Otger begins to sweat, it sounded so easy and now in this tense situation he is beginning to lose hope in an easy transaction but he remains where he is, motionless.
Sylyra Stealth: 5 Elf WIS Save: 5 Zelra Deception: 19
For Ola:
No celestial, fiend, or undead registers to your senses within 60 feet of you, and nothing in that range has been affected by the hallow spell.
An awkward silence after Zelra's question makes Sylyra's spellcasting obvious to all within the barn. Regardless, the elf suddenly blinks and shakes her head clear of confusion. "No, it's nothing. Just my paranoia at play."
One of her guards draws his weapon, a spear, and the others follow suit, sharing nervous glances between each other and the party. "What is wrong with you, you're going to blow this whole thing up! Put those away," the elf scolds the men, but they do not budge. "One of them just done somethin' to you. You start acting funny and we'll stab the lot of you. Don't test us," a guard responds.
"Okay, look, we're all on edge here. This is a risky transaction, so let's not screw it up. Like I said, throw the payment over first, and we'll leave the egg here. Then we leave, you wait five minutes, you exit, and we all leave happy. Understood?" the elf placates.
Sylyra bows his head toward the party, looking caught, but still slightly smug. "I apologize if my actions worried you. I was simply attempting to make contact with any rodents who may be in the barn," he lies. He makes a half-hearted gesture around the building with his free hand while still looking at the guards. "I ... wanted to make sure you didn't have anyone hiding upstairs. I needed to make sure my employer was safe."
OOC: philosophical question - would an egg of a Red Dragon radiate evil? Any way - what about sensing evil here?
"Should not we first see the egg?" Ola addressed only Zelra in a manner of a question from employee to the boss. At least she hoped it sounded like that.
OOC: if there is too much of me in topic already, consider Ola standing silently and waiting for Zelra to react.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Uragum barks out a short laugh at the guard threatening to stab them. "You're a jumpy one little man. If you talk like that you best be ready to back it up. Now shut your trap and let them get on with it."
Zelra places a hand on Uragum's arm and puts on her best diplomatic face. "Now, now. It's like the elf said. We're all on edge here. Lets just all calm down. There's no need to fight. I would agree with my assistant here." She gestures to Ola. "I would like to see the egg first before I throw you the payment. How am I to know that its real and not just some cheap material in the shape of an egg? I'm paying a hefty price here."
The wording of "detect good and evil" in Divine Sense is how Ola do Mari the paladin perceives the ability. Mechanically, it does not function as a measure of a creature's alignment, but rather like the spell "detect evil and good"; it reveals the presence of those specific types of enemy within 60 feet. Ola senses none of those currently.
The guards react to Uragum's taunt with confident sneers. The elf places a hard gaze over him as well, then turns back to Zelra and Ola. "One look. That's all you get before the egg is paid for," she says, waving her guards forward. The humans fan out, aiming their spears inward toward the center of the barn, and the elf walks to the center toward Zelra.
"Make a move and I'll skewer you, goliath," one guard taunts back.
The barn is silent for a moment, and the elf slowly draws back the lid of the hide backpack. Beneath is a very large egg, almost as large as the pack itself. Its vibrant red and black scales appear to match that of a dragon's.
Zelra steps forward slowly towards the elf, her hands in the air as she approaches.
If the elf doesn't stop her, she'll continue forward until she's right in front of the egg. She puts her hands down and looks towards the elf. "Looking is one thing. Feeling is another. I'll keep my hands in the bag but, if you'll let me, I just want to examine it a little closer."
(OOC: What kind of sleeves is the elf wearing, if any at all?)
The elf frowns and sighs, as if she was expecting this. "Now, that seems mighty suspicious of you. We haven't even caught a glimpse of the payment yet, and here you are wanting us to give you the opportunity for a snatch and grab. Payment first," she declares.
OOC: The elf is wearing leather armor over long sleeves that are rolled up to her elbow in the stuffy barn.
"Ah, of course, of course. Ola, why don't you give them a preview of the payment?" As she waits for Ola, she'll lean in closer, hands no where near the bag, and continues examining the egg.
(OOC: Is there any bit of clothing I can stick the pin to, eg underneath the hem of a shirt or onto a cloak, that is below their waist?)
OOC: She has regular clothing on along with her leather armor. As long as you can describe how you are doing so, placing the pin will require a successful Sleight of Hand check.

Whilst she's leaning down and looking at the dragon egg and the elf is, hopefully, distracted by Ola showing them the payment, Zelra would try to slip the pin underneath the hem of the elf's shirt. As soon as she does she'll lean back up and nod, as though she's satisfied with what she's seen.
Attempting to distract the elf (and therefore give Zelra a little advantage), Sylyra says to the elf in Elvish, "How does one so beautiful end up in the dragon egg-selling business? And where, exactly, does one procure a dragon egg to sell?"
At the same time as everything else, Sly (Arnald's hawk) comes swooping in low and lands on one of the guard's shoulders and just stares at him. If he attempts to grab the hawk, Sly will fly away.
Ola did not disappoint: she stepped closer and opened the bag with diamonds, placing it in a way that they could catch some light, slightly tilting the bag, so one could see the colours and hear so very genuine sound of precious rocks moving in the silk rap.
Ruik stood by just watching the exchange. He knew better than to open his mouth and make this situation worse that it was. He waited hoping the whole thing didn't end in bloodshed.
Otger is growing more and more concerned by the second. An easy task they said, just a quick exchange they said. A pin of all things? Really? He grunts softly to himself. Clearly out of his element he is still stationary and looking nervous.

As the sellers' attention is grabbed by Ola's reveal of the payment, Zelra surreptitiously snags the pin onto the hem of her shirt; not her best work, and surely someone noticed, but as the rogue glances around, the allure of the diamonds has completely pulled the attention of the elf and all of her guards.
"Flattery will get you nowhere," the elf scolds Sylyra playfully. "It wouldn't be the smartest business decision to go around telling all of my clients where I get my supply now, would it? But if you want to know how I got into this in the first place, well--"
She is cut off by the sudden appearance of Arnald's hawk.

Startled, the guard takes a swing as the hawk lands on his shoulder, but Sly is too quick, flapping back outside of the barn with a screech. "Dumb bird..." the man mutters, turning his attention back to the scene.
The elf woman holds the bag out for Zelra to run her hands across the egg. Its scales feel legitimate; coarse and real, like that of a dragonborn's skin - and then the lid snaps shut, and the elf and her guards step back, spears still in hand but no longer pointing toward the party.
"Enough foreplay. Toss the payment over," she demands.
