OOC: Maxine, you're further down the initiative order, I'm getting to your turn. Same with the Professor. I'm afraid this isn't over quite yet...
Shae darts out of cover behind the pillar, and pinpoints the priest surrounded by Berrus and Bertrand. As the divine light washes over the room, you can see the priest stumble backwards blindly, but his focus still remains unbroken. Cursing under her breath, Shae darts back into cover, glad that at least Berrus still seems to be in the fight.
Seeing Shae behind the pillar, Brax picks up the Captain, and sprints towards Shae. It takes him several painful steps to realise that he's run right into the sharp crystals, and quickly changes course, before plopping the wounded Captain near Shae. He implores her: "Please, help the Captain. SHe's been hit again- badly."You see her cough up blood, it's likely the arrow sticking in her side has punctured a lung.
Maxine meanwhile has been focussing entirely on bringing a world of hurt down on the corrupt chieftain and his evildoings. Seeing him crumple to the floor outside of cover, she can't help as a malevolent grin creeps up her face, as she takes aim with her crossbow. Her bolt strikes the unconscious leader so hard in his right shoulder, that the body is turned over from impact, and you can see a pool of blood forming underneath him.
Zip, seeing what Maxine is trying to do, attempts to do the same, but first needs to cross over to Maxine's side to get a clear shot. Once there, he takes aim, but his shot just misses Koro-arak, shattering against the wall behind him. Cliff, a less-sure shot than Zip, decides instead to hold his bolt, ready for one of the two priests to rush to Koro-arak's aid.
Seeing their leader down, and Berrus despite bleeding legs seemingly unstoppable, the elite bodyguards face a tough choice. The first one of them lunges out from behind the pillar toward the unconscious Koro-arak, to pick him up and bring him back to the altar for cover. He shields his leader with his own body, as Cliff's bolt slams into his shoulder, but once the leader is safely behind the altar, the bodyguard leaps once again to land just besides the raging Berrus. With deft movements, he strikes at Berrus with his dagger, but Berrus catches the blade with his shield.

Koro-arak, already in the process of moving back into cover, is suddenly caught in a burning aura that seems to have descended from the heavens themselves. Writhing in agony, he screams loudly, but still manages to grab Faekin to protect himself.
The concentrating priest is caught entirely by surprise, and as he is singed by the flaming sphere, his concentration drops, and he collapses on the ground, unconscious. As he drops, the crystals surrounding Shae recede, to reveal a flat stone floor once more.
In his fury, the Professor focusses on another one of the flasks, and flings it towards Koro-arak. The flask strikes the leader in the back of the head, showering both him and Faekin with the liquid inside the flask. Professor, for a moment, your heart leaps into your mouth, as you're afraid that you've just drenched Faekin in some caustic liquid, until you notice that the flask only contained distilled water. To your further surprise though, the force of the projectile was enough, and Koro-arak crumples to the floor once again.
Thasselandra is trying her best to stay in the fight, but she has trouble breathing. Seeing how the Professor downed one of the priests, she shouts to Cliff, and he passes her his crossbow. Steadying it against the pillar, she is waiting to take down the other priest, to prevent anyone else from healing Koro-arak again.
Berrus, still furious at the priest and the world of pain he had put him through, angrily hacks away at the crumpled body on the floor until only a bloody mess remains.
Bertrand, concerned for the Captain, is trying his best to shield her, while readying himself to strike out at any of the elites that comes too close. Now that the sharp crystals in the center of the hall have disappeared, Falx pushes up towards the second pillar on the right, on the same height as Shae. Once in cover, he signals her that he's ready to cover for her to get back to the pillar, or to push up towards Berrus.

As the flask shatters against Koro-arak and he goes down for a second time, the shards fall heavily to the ground. One shard, sharp enough to be used as a weapon, lays at Faekin's feet, next to the unconscious but still living form of his tormentor these past several days. From a distance, the familiar voice of the Professor shouts, "Faekin, it's up to you now! Kill Koro-arak and stop this madness!" But does this plea penetrate the fog that has settled on Faekin's brain from days of torture and deprivation? Is he strong enough to eliminate the threat before more harm is done to him and his friends?

Maxine sees her chance, and fires another bolt at Koro-arak. Her bolt strikes true again, and a cry goes through the remaining bodyguards as they see their bloodied leader remaining motionless in a slowly spreading pool of his own blood. Having failed in their duty, they almost simultaneously grab their daggers, and slit their own throats, to join their chieftain in death. A few short moments of awful gurgling, and the cave falls silent, but for the heavy breathing of your group.
A few moments later, you make out a weak moan, as Faekin still attemtps to break free from his bindings. Now able to properly inspect him, you see to your horror that Faekin's skin is blistering from sunburn, and several patches of his skin appear to have been removed with a flaying knife. Looking over to Koro- arak's corpse, you see some of the patches of skin wrapped around his own arms and legs in a bizarre attempt to imbue himself with whatever power he assumed Faekin's skin held.
For anyone not immediately able to provide medical aid to Faekin, you notice some details about this hall that had eluded you prior to this fight: the left and right walls of the hall show intricate murals and reliefs of mythical creatures. The altar itself is similarly covered in strange glyphs, apart from a recepticle in the top, which is carved in the form of a kneeling humanoid. Whoever built this hall, they don't seem to have been grung.

The Professor will come out from behind the corner of the alcove and survey the carnage, asking, "Is everyone alright?" Looking back towards Gruk, he says, "I'm sorry it had to come to this, Chieftain, but we tried to reason with them."
However, Snively is almost immediately distracted by the strange glyphs and carvings in the cave. He reverts to type, eagerly investigating the writing and runes thanks to his Comprehend Languages spell still running, pausing to take notes in his journal or do the ritual for Detect Magic if he thinks it worthwhile.
OOC: Great news on the levelling up! Are we going to a specific XP amount? Also, before I pick spells for Snively, are there any spellbooks lying around from which he could copy? Reading the rules, he would need ink supplies and reagents worth quite a bit of coin to do much copying, though.

just an unstable unicorn.
