Maxine was walking with others, getting her share of heat and sharing her blood with happy mosquito (that surprisingly did not drop dead on the contact). The suspicious figure ahead did not frightened her - after all, it was on the open, alone, and they were quite a big group. Fang's companion flying to get the better view, calmed even remote worries.
As Mushu returns, you can all tell by the changing facial expression on Fang's face that the news wasn't great. Up ahead, a lone troll, covered in oozing blisters and puss-filled sores was trying to recover after some sort of battle with another creature in the nearby jungle. It seems all the more irritable as a result of the sustained injuries, making it all the more dangerous.
Fang, you know from tribal stories, that these creatures are fearful, as they have very large appetites, know almost no fear, and are extremely resilient to any attempts to slay them. Whenever someone has told stories of them, they usually managed to do so, because they evaded the creature, rather than face it in battle. Luckily, Mushu also relates to you that there is a small stream behind a hill not too far from the creature, leading into the jungle up ahead. If you could all make it there without being spotted by the troll, you might be able to evade it completely.

Professor, this is what your books tell you of trolls.
Born with horrific appetites, trolls eat anything they can catch and devour. They have no society to speak of, though occasionally offer their services as mercenaries in return of food and treasure. Trolls are difficult to control, however, doing as they please even when working with more powerful creatures.
Regeneration. Smashing a troll’s bones and slashing through its rubbery hide only makes it angry. A troll’s wounds close quickly. If the monster loses an arm, a leg, or even its head, those dismembered parts can sometimes act with a life of their own. A troll can even reattach severed body parts, untroubled by its momentary disability. Only acid and fire can arrest the regenerative properties of a troll’s flesh. The trolls, enraged, will attack individuals making acid and fire attacks against them above all other prey.
Troll Freaks. Their regenerative capabilities make trolls especially susceptible to mutation. Although uncommon, such transformations can result from what the troll has done or what has been done to it. A decapitated troll might grow two heads from the stump of its neck, while a troll that eats a fey creature might gain one or more of that creature’s traits.
Fang, although Mushu seems willing to help you out, he is tiny, and probably won't serve as paticularly good bait. If you really wanted to attract the troll, you'd likely need something much larger. As far as the tales you know, most encounters with trolls haven't ended in others of your tribe able to outwit the trolls, but simply a case of steering well clear, or running much faster and hiding in small spaces the troll couldn't get to. You're right to think that evasion with a large group might be more difficult though.

Fang, having a moment of genius,(at least he thinks so), “What if we lure it into a hole courtesy of Glasses ability to mold the earth and Shae’s ability to make it smell like there’s food there.” Fang looks at the others to see what they think of his idea. “Then we could either defeat it at that point or move on with our journey.”
"If fire what it need - fire it gets." Maxine did not really expect their journey suddenly turn into a walk in the park, the fight was expected. "But we need to keep it away from our injured. May be leave them here with someone on guard and come back when it's all done".
She turned to Shae: "Remember your promise? Keep in the air. The troll looks stupid, but if it can tell who attack with fire, can figure out who is healing as well."
Shae would listen to all the ideas, but would be purposefully trying to busy herself as to not to engage in suggestions. Of course she had some thoughts, but wasn’t confident sharing them. Besides, they were all on the same concept anyways. When Maxine would look to her to remind her of her promise, that would make her all the more quiet. She’d nod. “Sure...” She’d go back to refreshing her cloth.
Fang would have picked up on her brief response and was about to say something just before Berrus did. Seeing as Berrus spoke to her first, Fang listens intently to/for her response to the dwarfs question.
“Yes.” Shae would offer a soft smile. “Now’s not the time for us to be reckless.” She’d say simply. And with Maxine’s reminder, she wouldn’t go back on a promise. She’d do as she’s asked.
Maxine looked over their little army, half of which was injured. "Well, let's dot the i's and cross the t's here. We have a hungry injured beast on the path we were going to use. No means to conceal ourselves, a disk with our belongings and our injured, that can not get farther than some 90ft (or is it 30?) from it's creator - Professor, and slow moving folks that can not fight. Fang, these are the questions to you: with all that - can we go around the troll far enough, that it neither spotted no smelled us? If not, can your bait tactic take him far enough, so we can move past that place on the same conditions?"
"If it is "no" to everything - I take it we better begin planning the battle. Berrus will try to keep his attention on himself - did not we get that fire-making sword? Might come handy now. My "fire"-powers are limited, but at least it is fire. We might be able to pull it off, after all, we did kill three hags."
Fang taking the lay of the land and the wind into account points over to the hill and the stream, “We should able to get everyone around that hill and past this troll having those that can’t move quietly on the disk. Try and keep as much distance between yourselves and the troll. I’ll have Mushu keep an eye on the beast as we move around. I also think the five of us should position ourselves between the rest of the group and the troll.” Fang looks around for feedback on his plan, not entirely sure why they are looking to him for it. “With any luck we’ll be on our way after just a minor delay.” Then looking at Berrus to answer his question “As long as you can give me(us).”
