The Professor dresses in his best academic attire and arrives at the party, sporting his ubiquitous bubbling pipe. Smiling in true delight as he gets to see Shae again, he starts catching up with her but is quickly surrounded by curious nobles and academics. He still wasn't used to the attention--even with the perspective of a few months, his adventure didn't seem all that extraordinary, but compared to the sheltered life lived by the pampered elite, it read as the pinnacle of daring adventure. Glasses remembers the uncomfortable nights and the insects, mostly, but there was true adventure scattered in and about good friends; some still around like Shae, and others moved on to other endeavors.
Finally snagging some hors de overs, Snively is vaguely startled by the appearance of the halfling entertainer. Watching his schtick, the Professor detects some hints of true magic, especially that stink at the end. Wrinkling his nose, he emits a few bubbles from the end of his pipe, swirling his finger and wafting the bubbles and the stink of the trog head up and away from the delicate sensitivities of the gathered nobles. "Nice performance, magician, you show some true talent beneath all that frippery."

Fang slowly approaches the beast with his hands up and extended like one tries to calm a horse. He speaks soothingly to it in a weird combination of draconic and Gnomish. Attempting to pat the giant animals side. (If it appears like it isn’t working Fang would try and move away as quickly as he can)
Reng sees the lizardfolk begin to try to calm the dinosaur. She begins to approach the triceratops from the western flank, and attempts to jump onto its back to ride it. Not too close to the crest, back just ahead of the hips.
With her bonus action she summons, through her weapon bond feature, a large battleaxe with a heavy blade and a bright red handle. She holds it ready to strike, if the dinosaur attacks either herself or the lizardfolk. "Just in case e's not friendly,"she says through gritted teeth at him.
(Assuming an athletics check or something would be needed to jump on top of the dinosaur and find a handhold and squeeze tight with her legs: 24)
Continuing with the deadpan deliver, Otto replies: Talent's got nothin' to do with it. This is one hundred percent TALENT. But what would I know? You're the professor, am I right, doc? Then looking around at the assembled throng he continues. I must say you can sure draw a crowd. I can only draw stick men. Honk Honk.Pleased to make your acquaintance. And Otto extends a hand in an offer of a handshake...

Half expecting to see a buzzing device concealed in the halfling's hand, the Professor returns the handshake after checking to avoid such an eventuality. "Nice to meet you, Otto. Please, don't let me interrupt your performance. This should be an interesting night." Snively moves off to get some more food and see if any of his other friends made it to the soiree.

There is indeed nothing in the extended hand, although as soon as the two make contact Otto pretends to be buzzed himself by releasing a short yelp of pain and a small convulsion. Soft hands, doc, soft hands, he says in cryptic jest, then with the faintest of smirks he moves on to the next group of guests.

"My apologies, good magician, people currently get an unexpected charge out of my magnetic personality," smiles the Professor as he moves off in an affable mood, smiling back and delivering one last pun, "I'll be sure to keep my ion you."
Oh, I'm positive you shall! And I'll be sure to conduct myself better in the future, Otto retorts with a grin from across the crowd (although truth be told, some of the Professor's puns went over Otto's head.)

Executioner's Run:
Fang, as you start to speak to the Triceratops, it spins around, nearly slicing you with its horns, but seeing you, hands outstretched and ready to calm it, it briefly stops, seemingly curious or confused about the goings on. You don't beleive that you've calmed the beast, but since it is used to things running from it in terror, this is definitely new and takes some getting used to.
Reng, as you summon the battle axe out of thin air, the ooh's and aahs of the crowd grow in volume. Seeing the triceratops momentarily distracted, you take your chance and approach to the side of the dinosaur, but you realise that you will have to catch it by surprise and so you fall into a full run, before jumping off a few feet before the sharp spikes on the ground. Reng amazingly manages to clear about ten feet of sharp bone fragments and other nasty spikes and manages to grab onto the triceratops. The crowd goes absolutely wild at the display.
The triceratops, now being completely surprised by the goings on, rapidly starts to twist and turn, which causes a further mess on the sharp spikes beneath it, only increasing the frenzied movements.
Your attention as being wholly consumed by the massive beast before you, but judging by the audience reaction and the screams in the background, the halfelf is not doing well. Confusingly though, you suddenly here a halfling scream in pain too.
Fang, I need you to make a Dexterity saving throw, DC 18, or you take 14 slashing damage from the horns. Reng, I need you to make either a DC 17 Acrobatics check to see whether Reng can grab onto the horns (thus lowering her chance of falling off in the future), or a DC 20 Athletics check, attemtping to hold on with her legs, leaving her arms free. If you fail, you'll be flung off the dinosaur, taking 3 bludgeoning damage from the impact and 6 slashing damage from the spikes, as well as being prone.
The halfelf tries to finish off one of the panthers. He lands a solid hit and the wounded panther looks to be on its last legs, but still holding on. Meanwhile, both panthers attack him, leaving deep gouges in his thing and on his neck and causing him to fall down to one knee, similarly on his last legs.
The halfling meanwhile is still sprinting at full speed towards the far wall, but he stumbles into a hidden trap towards the back end of the course, seriously hurting him in the fall.
16 vs 12 for 6 9 vs 10 for 4 and 10 vs 10 for 3 Investigation check 14 vs 20. 10 damage.

Shae hovered in her room, trying to muster up the right energy to take her out the door. The fog in her mind had rolled in again when she had found the array of gifts that awaited by her bed. She thumbed the note, reaching down to find something else hidden amongst her protectors farewell tokens. The cloth item was carefully wrapped and had blended in with the bed linen. Unwrapping it, the half-elf would reveal the most light and delicate of fabrics, adorned with intricate metal work that could only have been done by him. A breath of awe would escape her lips as she'd lift an evening gown from the package. Layers of blue and purple Dhakin Muslin type linen spilled down, almost to her feet. She'd take gliding steps to a mirror, holding it up against herself. Perhaps she had stalled long enough and should prepare for this lavish party at the villa of a merchant prince.
Dress:
Shae's tall lithe frame had filled in with lightly toned muscles, her feminine curves returning fully with the help of a healthy diet and training she' enjoyed since their return. Her skin had significantly darkened from her acclimatization to the area and violet hair brightened from the sun. Her ears remained pointed and eyes blue as the sea were still bright as ever. Feeling a breath of fresh air or excitement reinvigorate her, Shae would slip into her new gown. Smoothing it over, she'd find hidden pockets. A gasp of glee would break her silence. She'd twist and turn, reviewing herself. The only items that embellished the half-elfs appearance were a pair of feathers, one black, one white, braided into her hair, fastened in place with pearled beads. Though, any one who took a closer look at her skin, would find evidence of an adventurer. Varied scars adorned her flesh. There were monkey claw gashes on left shoulder and both arms, two arrow punctures beneath her right clavicle, legs and arms peppered in slices by crystal.
Shae:
(But with pointed ears, darker tanned skin, two feathers braided into her hair.)
Finally, Shae would leave the comfort of her room, setting out into the evening by herself. She truly hoped and wished she'd recognize some familiar faces. It was at times like this she sincerely missed Maxine's presence and company. Looking out at the night sky, her heart ached, missing the ones she cared for. Though, with that pain, came the understanding that they were were they wanted and needed to be. It also reminded her of something to look forward too again some day. Now was the time for a new chapter and adventures in their stories, ones that she aims bring back and share. That brought comfort and a smile to the medics face as she made her way out into the city.
Soirer
Unsurprisingly with her head in the clouds, Shae bumps into someone. Immediately she'd begin an apology, and when her eyes would fall over someone she'd recognize, her face would light up. "Professor." She'd smile warmly, reaching for a small hug when he'd get surrounded by admirers. A light giggle would leave her lips and her eyes would soften. As she watched them gush over him with attention, she felt some relief for herself. A part of her was glad that she decided to lay low and focus on her training, but she also radiated with secret pride. The scholar had also contributed to the Professor's research alongside Fang, and she knew that it contributed to the hard work he poured into the rest of his work. Snively deserved all the recognition for a job well done. When he'd manage a moment to spare a glance her way, the half-elf would bow her head in respect, giving him a confident smile. "We'll catch up soon." Even if he didn't hear her, she'd mouth the words before excusing herself to browse the entertainment.
As she stepped gracefully, the fabric of her dress flowed and clung to her silhouette. Shae held little interest to mingle with the haughty and critical wealthy crowd if she could avoid it. Polite smiles and nods of her head would greet those she passed by, slipping out of any lengthy chit chat that held no interest to her. She was more interested in the entertainment and wondered what their stories were. Passing by hors d'oeuvres, she wasn't shy of helping herself to some that looked really tasty. Coming across some raw ones, Shae caught herself pocketing them out of habit. She'd chuckle softly under her breath. Where is Mushu? And Fang? A sigh would leave her accompanied by a pang of guilt. Not that she thinks he'd rather be here, but she had not gone to see him or Mushu during the break. She became so focused on her training, she didn't visit him, or Snively...
Worried eyes would pan around, but there wasn't much she could do right now, except try to enjoy herself. Inhaling a breath, Shae would come across a winking trickster, beckoning her over. Tilting her head in curiosity, Okay, I'll bite, she'd put on a mischievous smirk. She'd stride over to the entertainer. "Are you looking for an assistant?"
"Ahh, we have a volunteer!" Mulligan calls out and directs all eyes to the young woman striding over to him. Including his own.
The times Mulligan McScáth has found himself speechless could be counted on one hand, each with it's own story. This day he almost had to add a second hand for he found himself grasping for words once he took in the vision before him. He wasn't typically tongue-tied by a pretty face, even those dressed to the nines, but everything about this woman was perfection. Even her flaws.
"Ah... Yes... Well, I would of course be honored..." Ok, this is embarrassing, he thought. Get yourself together!
"It is my honor to have your assistance, but you must first promise not to outshine me," Mulligan says with a wink to the crowd, drawing forth a smattering of chuckles. "If you would be so kind as to take this deck of cards and go through it? Make sure it's a standard, usual deck of cards, that there is nothing funny or odd about them?"
Shae finds nothing strong or unusual about the cards. They are a bit old and used but the wear and tear appears natural and not due to being marked in any intentional way.
"Please feel free to show the cards to the others gathered as well, let them all have a look. We want everyone assured there is no funny business here, for comedy is a much trickier art than magic," Mulligan assures the crowd. "Besides, the court jester never ends up with the princess..."
The cards are shown around by Shae to any and all who wish a look. It is a normal deck of cards and everybody is assured of such. Once all are satisfied, Mulligan asks his lovely assistant to allow each and all gathered to draw a random card. "Draw a card, look at it, memorize it, and put it back in the deck. Wherever you wish. Do not forget your card, please. We don't want faulty memories making me look like a bad magician now, do we?"
About half the assembled knot of people choose to participate. They draw a card from the deck Shae spreads out before them, look at the card, and then put it back into the deck. Once this is completed Mulligan asks if anyone wants to shuffle the deck. There is, of course, someone who wants to, a half drunken lout who thinks they can shuffle the magic right out of the deck. And perhaps such could be done, if the magic was in the deck...
"Now I trust everyone has been keeping a close eye on the cards, have you not?" Mulligan asks the crowd, turning from one to another until everyone agreed. "There's been nothing shady or underhanded, has there? Good, good... Now Miss Shae, if you would please, go back to each person who picked a card and have them find it in the deck again..."
The first participant quickly scans through the deck and... does not find their card. They go through the deck again and again and cannot find the card.
"You lost my card? Do you know how precious a deck of cards can be?" The mock anger on his voice is apparent but enjoyed by all. "Perhaps, if you'd be so kind... If you would open your coin purse and let us have a look?"
They were skeptical at first but with some encouragement from the crowd they did indeed eventually open their purse. Inside, plain as day to all who had a view, was a King of Jewels. The participant gasped in shock... And then again in amazement as the card went up in a cloud of sparks and disappeared.
"Now I truly am out a card! This is horri... Waaaaaaait a moment... Miss Shae, if you would please fan out the cards and let us see?" Slowly, reluctantly, Shae does look through the cards, spreading them all to see. And sure enough, halfway through the deck, the King of Jewels. The crowd applauds. Not raucously but more than politely. Again and again this happens, with each participant being asked to check in their coin purse or pocket or billfold or anyplace upon them such a thing could be stored. And each time the card, their card, is discovered before it goes up in a puff of smoke and sparks and somehow finds itself back in the deck. Even the one or two in this knot of people who would have a clue to watch for signs of Prestidigitation or Mage Hand notice nothing, lost in the flow of words and misdirection that Mulligan has perfected over the years.
The last participant though, now they were the trouble... The Ace of Stars was not in the book he was hoping to get signed tonight and holding onto tightly until he did. It was not in the inside pocket of his sharp vest. It did not even reside in the overfilled coin pouch he wore at his belt, surely for no other reason than to show off.
"Well this is troubling," Mulligan admitted. "The card cannot have gotten far... I am not THAT good a magician," Mulligan admits, to a few chuckles.
"Obviously..." And this brings even more.
"But... The card does generally go hide wherever your mind sends it. To whatever your mind is on. For some that is the book they hold precious. For others it is with their gold. For you... Hmmm, just what was your mind on?" Mulligan asks.
"I uh... I don't... I was just thinking about the cards," the final participant stammers, confused.
"Ok, ok... Maybe it was my mind? What was my mind on?" Mulligan asks the crowd, putting on a show of trying to think really hard. He looks slowly to the left, then slowly to the right, pondering the question... Until his eyes linger upon his lovely assistant.
"Oh dear. Now this IS embarrassing. But umm... Miss Shae? If you would be so kind to check..." Mulligan turns and looks back over the crowd. "Now now! Have some decorum and get your mind out of the gutters, if you would!"
"Miss Shae, if you would be so kind as to check your hair? I do believe you have something stuck there behind the black feather..."
Folded up so as to discreetly hide amongst the braided in feather was indeed the Ace of Stars.
((Prestidigitation to create illusory image of which card they pulled to be one he would remember that they pulled. Then again later to make it look as if the card was where they looked, but poofed before they could touch it. And amongst all this, a little Mage Hand to carefully tuck the card into Shae's hair while everyone was watching the last guy search his pockets and such... I may be stretching Prestidigitation a touch here but... Sue me! lol))
Mulligan McScáth took some bows and clasped some hands from those thoroughly entertained. This was not his most difficult trick that he had but often the most crowd pleasing since it drew many of them into participation and thus upped the drama of the whole thing. It was also quite useful a trick for gaining peeks into purses and pockets and such and seeing where the audience holds their most precious items. Valuable knowledge to have if one bumps into them later in the night...
But, for the moment at least, Mulligan's mind was more on his assistant than petty thievery.
"Please, you are all too kind to me. Much too kind. But please, I do think a round of applause is very much deserved by this lovely lady right here. She was a wonderful assistant for this evening. Please, put your hands together for Shae...." Mulligan joins the crowd in applauding the young woman, much to her obvious embarrassment.
"You really were quite wonderful," Mulligan leans in and whispers to her during the applause. "I owe you a drink, at least...."
"Don't worry, you'll be a shining star." Shae'd smile as she'd step in to give Mulligan's attire an adjustment, dusting some sparkles off his chest when he'd wink to the crowd to enhance the chuckles. "I'm just here to help." She'd return a wink of her own.
Shae accepted the cards, looking them over herself first. Exaggerating her expressions, she'd share curious exchanges over them to encourage the spectators to take the chance and pick their cards as Mulligan instructed them. She'd have fun with it, making small improvisations of her own during his display in attempts to build on his performance.
"Besides, the court jester never ends up with the princess..." With a slight wiggle of her fingers behind her back, she'd ring the sound of jester bells from behind Mulligan.
"Do not forget your card, please. We don't want faulty memories making me look like a bad magician now, do we?" Shae'd make a thinking face before 'remembering' and tapping on her temple.
When they'd assemble to pick their cards, she'd spread the cards out in her hand swiftly, leaning in to offer the volunteers their pick. Shae'd stride from one to the next, fanning herself with them if they took a while. One by one, they'd pick their cards.
When Mulligan would call for someone to shuffle the cards, Shae would playfully pout, handing off the cards as she mouthed, 'Don't trust me?'. Panning the crowd with big doey blue eyes, she'd hold her hands where all could see. She'd quickly recover with a sweetened smile when the deck was returned unharmed and clear of magic.
"Now I trust everyone has been keeping a close eye on the cards, have you not?" Mulligan asks the crowd, turning from one to another until everyone agreed. Shae would slip behind him, 'hiding' in his blindspot as he turned. She'd move with him, putting a finger to her lips to 'shh' the crowd as she'd peek out from behind him.
"There's been nothing shady or underhanded, has there? Good, good... Now Miss Shae, if you would please, go back to each person who picked a card and have them find it in the deck again..." She'd side step out as if she'd been standing beside him ready to present the cards the whole time. "How did he know my name?" A playful gasp would leave her lips, as she had not introduced herself. After a soft chuckle to herself, the half-elf would present the cards for the first participant to find. When he doesn't find his card, and Mulligan would put mock anger in his voice, she'd bite her lip with a convincing worried face. Then when the individual would find the card in their coin purse, Shae would continue to play along, lifting her hands, expressing 'wasn't me'. And when the card would disappear in a cloud of sparks, she'd animate widened eyes.
As instructed, Shae would fan out the cards once again to find his King of Jewels. And continuing as a good sport all the way through, she'd play along with each card discovery, 'banishment' and rediscovery, leaning into any of Mulligan's misdirection. As his assistant, she focused on helping him work the crowd.
Soon enough, they reached the final participant. Shae would pad around, leaning and peaking, encouraging the crowd that they'd find the card amongst the person. It never showed. And as Mulligan mulled over his thoughts, Shae would bring her finger to her nose and pat it to look thoughtful too.
"Oh dear. Now this IS embarrassing. But umm... Miss Shae? If you would be so kind to check..." Mulligan turns and looks back over the crowd. Behind him, Shae would 'fall for it' along with the crowd, glancing to look down the front of her dress.
"Now now! Have some decorum and get your mind out of the gutters, if you would!" Looking up abruptly back to the crowd, she'd bring a hand to her mouth, embellishing an innocent gasp with a bashful expression.
"Miss Shae, if you would be so kind as to check your hair? I do believe you have something stuck there behind the black feather..." With a genuine smile, Shae would reach into her hair. She'd make another thoughtful face as she'd feel something behind the feather, gently 'untangling it' from its hiding place before presenting the Ace of Stars to the crowd. She'd begin clapping, encouraging the crowd.
Shae would step aside to allow for Mulligan to give his bows and take his handshakes from the entertained crowd. Though when he'd turn the crowd back to her, she'd be inclined to give a few courtseys, feeling her cheeks redden only slightly. With the deck still in hand, she'd fan it out to begin fanning herself once again. "I suppose I should return these after a job well done huh?" She'd ask the crowd. The half-elf would 'snap her fan closed', then begin shuffling the cards as she'd stalk up to the smug Mulligan. "Wouldn't want to lose any." She'd hand back his deck.
"You really were quite wonderful," Mulligan leans in and whispers to her during the applause. "I owe you a drink, at least...." Shae would offer a dimpled smile. "Perhaps we can wet our whistles after a little more entertainment." Her smile would turn mischievous. "I'll raise your drink, for a dinner." She'd pop a brow.
Feeding off the energy the half-elf would turn to the applauding crowd. Hiking up part of her skirt, she'd lift a leg and bring it down in rhythmic stomps. Then she'd let go, bringing her hands up high in a clap, building on her beat to encourage the spectators to jump in. Shae's smile would deepen as one by one they'd join, establishing the beat, she'd prompt, "Ready?"
Shae began to sing a common sea chantey amongst the docks.
There once was a ship that put to sea The name of the ship was the Billy of Tea The winds blew up, her bow dipped down O blow, my bully boys, blow (huh)
Soon may the Wellerman come To bring us sugar and tea and rum (hey) One day, when the tonguin' is done We'll take our leave and go
She had not been two weeks from shore When down on her a right whale bore The captain called all hands and swore He'd take that whale in tow (huh)
Soon may the Wellerman come To bring us sugar and tea and rum (hey) One day, when the tonguin' is done We'll take our leave and go
And as they gained momentum to the beat, she'd step into her stomps, shifting into twirls. Her dress flowed around her like the waves as she danced a circle around Mulligan.
Before the boat had hit the water The whale's tail came up and caught her All hands to the side harpooned and fought her When she dived down below (huh)
Soon may the Wellerman come To bring us sugar and tea and rum One day, when the tonguin' is done We'll take our leave and go
With a sway of her hips she'd bump into him, insisting he join with even more enthusiastic stomps and claps.
No line was cut, no whale was freed
The captain's mind was not of greed
But he belongs to the whaleman's creed
She took that ship in tow
Soon may the Wellerman come To bring us sugar and tea and rum One day, when the tonguin' is done We'll take our leave and go
She'd add a little more skip to her pepping steps, a soft giggle escaping her lips. With gentle twist of her wrists and gestures of her fingers, Shae would call upon some water to dance with her. Shaping it with the words as she moved.
Soon may the Wellerman come To bring us sugar and tea and rum One day, when the tonguin' is done We'll take our leave and go
As far as I've heard, the fight's still on
The line's not cut and the whale's not gone
The Wellerman makes his regular call
To encourage the Captain, crew, and all
Soon may the Wellerman come To bring us sugar and tea and rum One day, when the tonguin' is done We'll take our leave and go
Soon may the Wellerman come To bring us sugar and tea and rum One day, when the tonguin' is done We'll take our leave and go
Coming to the end of her tune, Shae would gather the scattered dancing droplets, bringing them together in a colliding splash of waves as she'd bring her hands together in a final clap. The water display would explode in a sparkling puff of snow, bursting shining snowflakes high into the air to come sprinkling down over Mulligan and the participating crowd.
Shae'd lean in, "Told you I'd make you shine." She'd wink.
All eyes end up on Shae and her infectious song and dance. The display of the snowflakes have all of the present nobles and merchants in awe, for most of them had only heard tales or read about snow, but had never experienced it themselves. As Shae takes a bow, catching her breath and a healthy warmth in her cheeks and a smile on her lips, a single pair of clapping hands from the ballustrade atop the sweeping staricases can be heard. As all eyes shift upwards, you find Wakanga O'Tamu the merchant prince standing there. His dark skin and braided beard is accentuated with golden rings and pearls, and he is wearing a billowing silk short and linen trousers, in rich blacks, blues and purples, embroidered with golden stars and silver moons.
As the room falls silent, his deep and booming voice, probably enhanced by magic, rolls out over the assembled party: "Welcome, my dear guests! Shae of the Amethyst Order, and Professor Iversoll Templeton, thank you for accepting my invitations. It seems I could have saved on the entertainment for tonight, that was a most excellent performance!" A chattering of laughter is heard from among the crowd.
"Please, don't let me stop you. Enjoy the evening, have fun, after all, that's what we're here for!" WIth that, the gathered nobles clap and the music picks back up. The Merchant prince himself is making his way down the steps and towards the Professor and Shae. Once within earshot of the two, he asks:
"Are you enjyoing yourselves? Good, good. This party is in your honour after all. But I'm sure both of you know that there are other things I wish to discuss with you as well. I don't mean to make this all business, so let's get this out of the way so we may better enjoy our evening hereafter. Please, if you would be so kind and follow me up to my study."

Fang is caught by two of the sharp horns of the stampeding Triceratops, made wild by the pain of the spikes and by Reng on its back. As it slashes across his chest and thigh, you seem to hear the collecting sucking in of air from the crowd, wincing at the pain, but also gleeful for the carnage to be expected. Meanwhile though, Reng holds on to the back of the Triceratops through sheer force of will and squeezing her legs as tight around the massive flanks of the beast as possible.

"Perhaps we can wet our whistles after a little more entertainment." Her smile would turn mischievous. "I'll raise your drink, for a dinner." She'd pop a brow.
Mulligan's hand fold over his heart and his face is lit up by a smile. He bows at the waist and as he raises he has a card in his hand, offering it out to his amazing assistant. It is a stylized Jester of Wands which shows the fool dancing and playing a flute, and below it is printed the name Mulligan McScáth. Under his name it reads "Saints & Sinners" - the name of a well known, if bit run down and low brow, tavern know for it's variety of shows and entertainments.
"T'would be my honor to accompany you any time..." Mulligan says as he hands her the card. He meant to dinner but as Shae hiked her skirt, stomped her foot and clpped to established the rhythm, Mulligan realized this girl was much more than he bargained for.
"Ready?" Shae asks, and jumps into song and dance before there was even a reply.
Of course Mulligan was ready! His foot was following the beat as soon as it was established and as soon as she began to sing he drew out his flute and readied... Mulligan stomped his foot and slapped his thigh with his free hand through the first verse, letting Shae showcase her sweet and skillful voice. But as she twirled and danced around him, Mulligan brought his flute to his lips and added it's melody to her own.
Mulligan began with a soft, lovely background accompaniment while swaying and stomping with the song, seeming a bit wooden and clumsy on his feet. When Shae hip bumped him and insisted on more though she got it. Mulligan's steps and movements become more sure and skillful, his flute wove itself in and our of her voice more expertly. What started as a well known and comfortably tune turned into a full blow showcase of song and dance. While both performers wove about one another pushing and challenger each other for more, they also wove about the spectators, encouraging their participation as well. By the end of the song, and Shae's jaw dropping display of dancing droplets and falling snowflakes, the crowd had swelled from the tiny knot of spectators that they had begun with to well near half the room!
Shae'd lean in, "Told you I'd make you shine." She'd wink.
Mulligan laughs and bows once again. "You are too kind. I am but the moon to your sun, a pale reflection of your brilliance..." Mulligan had more praise to heap upon his unexpected co-performer but like all the others in the room he was interrupted by the appearance of Wakanga O'Tamu...
As their host spoke and drew all eyes to himself, Mulligan took the opportunity to take advantage of the distraction. Mulligan subtly and slyly moved through the throng of guests that Shae and himself had gathered around them, ostensibly to find himself a drink. Coincidentally his path to his refreshment took him past two of the more enriched spectators he had noticed during his little card trick. With a "Pardon me," and an "Excuse me a moment," Mulligan rubbed shoulders and he squeezed by the gentlemen and attempted to lighten them of some of the burden of their wealth.
Sleight of Hand Victim #1 24
Sleight of Hand Victim #2 17
Mulligan is by no means trying to empty their pockets, just lighten them a bit. Better a victim think they spent more than they thought than know they were fleeced. And he's aiming for the easy take, wether it be the coins or a jewel or whatever valuable is opportune.
Grabbing two drinks, Mulligan intends to return to the side of the beautiful and surprising Shae. However by the time he returns it seems she has been hijacked by their host so Mulligan hangs out on the perimeter of the crowd and tries to overhear the discussion...

Glasses:
The professor turns as the magic trick begins in earnest with Shae's talented and mischievous additions. Summoning an Unseen Servant, he adds flair and mysterious effects to the tricks, taking care not to wrest control from the magician, merely enhancing. As is his way, Snively continues to keep a low profile but adds subtle touches to the presentation with his mastery of the elements. Clapping along with the others when the trick is done, Glasses is truly impressed by their combined skill and artistry. "A fair pairing, should she wish it," he thinks, happy for his friend.
When Shae's dance and song begins, he claps along with the others, moving in a muted dance not nearly as raucous as the primaries, but enjoying himself nonetheless. Here is where his mastery of the elements really shines, as the flames in the room pulse with the beat and the very ground itself thrums with a percussive beat. The air flow in the room pulses in response, with minor breezes whipping clothes at opportune moments to add to the joy of the dance. The climax of the dance with the water and snow reflect Shae's brilliant touch, and the Professor smiles as he extends and enlarges her special effect with his own magic.
Perception on Mulligan, spoiler if he notices the pickpocketing: 14
Frowning at the criminal behavior of the entertainer, Snively revises his opinion of the man, sighing and sending his invisible servant to try and interfere, causing the targeted purses to shift out of the way of the lightfingered thief or otherwise complicating his intended larceny.

At Prince Wakanga O'Tamu's praise and welcome, Snively reddens a bit but bows gracefully in response, still not accustomed to this level of celebrity for a simple professor. He graciously accepts the prince's invitation to the study, holding his questions for now but puffing at his pipe, considering the plight of the steam mephit harnessed within.
OOC: It has been a minute...what is the name of the Mephit attached to the pipe? Also, from a game mechanics standpoint, if we "free" the mephit, could it become like a familiar, or would it just wander off to live its best life somewhere else?
Shae would accept Mulligan's card between two fingers. With snacks in her pockets, there was only one place for her to put it to free up her hands for her song and dance.
Believe it or not, she had come a long way to get here. Only a handful of individuals could truly know the path she stumbled to come into her own. And she didn't do it alone. Recognizing and sensing the Professors magic around, it only encouraged Shae further, completely losing herself in the moment. It allowed her to let go of some anxieties and to have some fun. Her eyes would widen further with usual wonder and additional laughter would escape her lips when she'd catch glimpses of the Professor's enchanting magic. His historical masterful display over the elements are what inspired her finale. She had paid attention and took notes. She was his assistant while studying out in the jungle after all. So it only made the scholar burst with pride when he'd accentuate her special effects with his own.
With one last playful wisp of her hand, Shae would conjure an ice tiara over Mulligan's head when he'd begin lavishing her in praise, it'd shatter into little stars when Wakanga would make his appearance.
Chest still rising and falling from catching her breath, Shae would flush further when O'Tamu would announce her name and a title alongside the Professor's. The weight of the eyes on her at that moment started to sink in as the Merchant Prince himself would praise the pair. The half-elf would inhale deeper breaths to steady nervous shakes that threatened to break through her newfound confidence.
When the Prince's stare would break from them and he'd make his way over, Shae would stride up next to the Professor taking comfort in the familiarity of his presence. Thinking of something to do with her hands, she was once again reminded she couldn't just shove them in her pockets... Leaning in to Snively, she'd have ask, "Have you seen Fang? Or even Mushu?" She'd scoop the Professor's free arm in hers, resting her free hand on his forearm to be escorted along with him to the study.
Glasses:

"Just in case e's not friendly," she says through gritted teeth at him.

Honk Honk. Pleased to make your acquaintance. And Otto extends a hand in an offer of a handshake...

Glasses:

(Missed my chance to roll a Performance check, so just for fun... 19)

Before
Shae hovered in her room, trying to muster up the right energy to take her out the door.

"Are you looking for an assistant?"
just an unstable unicorn.
"Besides, the court jester never ends up with the princess..."
With a slight wiggle of her fingers behind her back, she'd ring the sound of jester bells from behind Mulligan.
"Do not forget your card, please. We don't want faulty memories making me look like a bad magician now, do we?"
Shae'd make a thinking face before 'remembering' and tapping on her temple.
Now Miss Shae, if you would please, go back to each person who picked a card and have them find it in the deck again..."
She'd side step out as if she'd been standing beside him ready to present the cards the whole time.
"Now now! Have some decorum and get your mind out of the gutters, if you would!"
Looking up abruptly back to the crowd, she'd bring a hand to her mouth, embellishing an innocent gasp with a bashful expression.
"Miss Shae, if you would be so kind as to check your hair? I do believe you have something stuck there behind the black feather..."
With a genuine smile, Shae would reach into her hair.
"I owe you a drink, at least...."
Shae would offer a dimpled smile.
The name of the ship was the Billy of Tea
The winds blew up, her bow dipped down
O blow, my bully boys, blow (huh)
To bring us sugar and tea and rum (hey)
One day, when the tonguin' is done
We'll take our leave and go
When down on her a right whale bore
The captain called all hands and swore
He'd take that whale in tow (huh)
To bring us sugar and tea and rum (hey)
One day, when the tonguin' is done
We'll take our leave and go
And as they gained momentum to the beat, she'd step into her stomps, shifting into twirls. Her dress flowed around her like the waves as she danced a circle around Mulligan.
Da-da-da-da-da-da-da
Da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da
The whale's tail came up and caught her
All hands to the side harpooned and fought her
When she dived down below (huh)
To bring us sugar and tea and rum
One day, when the tonguin' is done
We'll take our leave and go
With a sway of her hips she'd bump into him, insisting he join with even more enthusiastic stomps and claps.
To bring us sugar and tea and rum

We'll take our leave and go

At the party:
-----------------------------------------------
At the Executioner's Run:
Fang is caught by two of the sharp horns of the stampeding Triceratops, made wild by the pain of the spikes and by Reng on its back. As it slashes across his chest and thigh, you seem to hear the collecting sucking in of air from the crowd, wincing at the pain, but also gleeful for the carnage to be expected. Meanwhile though, Reng holds on to the back of the Triceratops through sheer force of will and squeezing her legs as tight around the massive flanks of the beast as possible.
Fang, please give me a concentration check to see whether the spike growth remains up. Con save DC 10.

Frowning at the criminal behavior of the entertainer, Snively revises his opinion of the man, sighing and sending his invisible servant to try and interfere, causing the targeted purses to shift out of the way of the lightfingered thief or otherwise complicating his intended larceny.

Fang completely loses focus on the spikes as his complete attention shifts to the angry beast ahead of him and the pain from the two fresh wounds.
