Maxine gave up on containment and happily shared the good news - FOOD! Not that they were dying from hunger right now, but monkey meat did not come cheap, and mushrooms was something she was practically razed on and could vouch for (mother Trislte used to say "you can eat a shoe sole with enough mushrooms" and she was right!). "We have to take them all!" excitedly declared Maxine but the news about someones tracks calmed her down. "Human or animal?" Actually, it was hard to say, what would be worse.

Professor Snively:

"Of course," he replies, handing the Gazetteer over.  Moving over to the tallest tree that has the mushrooms growing on it, he suggests, "Perhaps someone could climb the tree using the mushrooms as footholds?  We could get our bearings and maybe even pinpoint our location on the map!  I can watch from down here and catch you with a spell if you fall."

Growing tired of waiting for a response, Professor S. shrugs his shoulders and grabs the map.  He starts climbing up the tree by using the mushrooms as steps and gets as high as he can, looking for landmarks that might tell them where they are.

"Professor!" Gasped Maxine in shock watching an academic scientist attempting to climb the tree. "Truly, you should not risk your life like that - we do not know who is hiding on that tree. Can it be possible to send your invisible servant up there to draw what it can see? It can draw, right?"

Maxine last attempt to climb anything was so pathetic (and that was when she was healthy!) that she herself would not try to climb even a staircase of an old people's home.

Shae would pop her head up from the brush when she’d hear Maxine gasp up to the Professor who attempted to climb the tree. She’d blink a few times trying to get her bearings. Seeing everyone move around, she’d gather that they may not be under immediate threat and pick herself up off the ground. She’d brush some dirt off her clothes before meeting up to Maxine beneath where the professor was climbing. 

Shae would look around for a vine or even a giant leaf that her and Maxine could hold out to catch the professor if he falls, if it wasn’t already too late. “I’m pretty sure one of us actually has climbing equipment... they should of done this...” She’d look around for Zip, pretty sure it was him who grabbed that equipment.

The Professor reaches only about two feet off ground, before the entire ‘‘Shelf’’ breaks off, in a thick cloud of spores. The Professor is coughing heavily, but otherwise seems fine.

Shae would wait for the spore cloud to settle and the professor to stop coughing before she’d approach him to do a mini medical exam to ensure he hasn’t hurt himself physically. She’d imagine any effects from the spores would not present themselves immediately. After checking over the Professor, she’d look closer at those mushrooms. 

Berrus gets a small amount of water and brings it to the professor  "ere take a mouthfull an try to wash the spores out"

The professor takes a drink of the water, swishes it around and spits it out.  Getting up, he feels a little off-balance, saying, "Yes, perhaps I should let someone else climb up and see where we are.  I was hoping the mushrooms would be more sturdy."

The Professor suffers a violent coughing fit, but after a minute or two and with the help of some water, he recovers quickly.

The sheets of mushroom that broke loose reveal a fleshy interior, which looks unappealing, but gives off a rather delicious smell, not dissimilar to a rawsteak.

Shae would collect the couple sheets of mushroom that broke loose before taking a drink of water herself.

It looked like commotion on clearing with Professor's fall and spore clouds did not attract attention of any predator (yet) and Maxine risked to collect as much mushrooms as she could, even using ever helping Mag Hand to get those in high places. Food is food and nobody knows when they get a chance to find something obviously eatable again.

Professor Snively:

"I'm afraid my Unseen Servant is not adept at climbing, and I have never instructed it to draw, so I do not know what it might produce," says the Professor to Maxine.  Continuing, he states, "We need to know where we are on the map and confirm we are headed in the right direction.  Did you say Zip has the climbing gear?  Perhaps he can help."

Looking for Zip, he asks, "Please climb up this tree and help us get our bearings.  I can stand ready below to magically catch you if you fall."

OOC:  It has been 6 IRL days since the Professor asked someone to climb the tree and help get our bearings, offering to catch them with magic if they fall.  This shouldn’t be that hard.  I will wait for another day and have Professor S try again if no one else steps up to help.

OOC: We are all waiting for Zip - our "ranger" and owner of the climbing gear.

OOC: Yup, waiting on Zip. Otherwise Shae would have grabbed the equipment and tried herself, or would have tried talking Maxine into giving it a go by now.
