Shae would begin gathering some of the large ferns for the shelter. Shae, how permanent might this shelter have to be? "That's a good question. How long on average would it rain here?" She'd speak aloud to herself as she stacks materials.
Nature: 6 for the weather and natural cycles Survival: 4 to predict the weather or other natural hazards in the area
Once she's gathered the material for the shelter, hopefully for someone more skilled in building than her, Shae would pull out the cooking equipment to begin prepping the mushrooms. "I can try my hand at making a meal tonight? I can't promise it'd be as good as Faekin's though."
Shae, you gather that rain is a pretty constant thing in the jungles of Chult. With the mountain ranges to the north and west, any humidity from the sea gets channelled into the interior of the peninsula, and unleashed there. Without any reference to the current storm however, you don’t know how long it’ll likely continue to rain, though judging by the grounds when it was dry, you imagine that it can’t last longer than a day or two.
For the Professor, the rain is good news though, as the rain turns much of the area into a marshy bog, significantly aiding in covering up the group’s tracks and washing off any scent they might have left on the foliage. The firestarter works, although the small fire is very smokey.
The crew is putting all their gear close to the tree to try and keep it as dry as possible, before Thessalandra organises a watch, and the others start to doff and dry their armour, oiling the leathers and chains to avoid rust.
Berrus and Faekin, now that you are resting, what would you like to do?
Maxine, despite the sudden drop in temperature and the freezing rain on your exposed skin, you feel like you are burning up.

Shae will assist the professor with finding a way to shelter the fire from some of the rain and tend to it. She'd wait for there to be at least enough hot coals for her to begin cooking their meal that Maxine helped her prep. In this weather she expects the meal to take on bit of a smokier flavour.
Cooking: 6
Just in case... Shae would wave her hand over the pan, wiggling her fingers. Sparkles would sprinkle over the food.
Shae, this isn’t your best work. “It’s thill edible though...” She’d mutter in defeat. Shae would portion up the cooked mushrooms with a little bit of magical flavouring on them to make them bearable. She’d also grab a handful of rations to put along with it for some variety. One by one she’d hand out everyone’s meals. “It’s definitely nothing as great as Faekin’s, but it’ll fill your belly.”
As she approaches Berrus with his meal, “You rest up tonight. I’ll take your watch with the captain and the others.” Shae’s cheeks would go pink, “And thank you for today.” She felt weak today, but appreciated the strength of the people around her, taking her struggles into consideration. She owed the professor a multitude of thanks.
Handing Maxine her plate, Shae would check in with her, “Thank you for helping me prep dinner tonight. Perhaps you would have done a better job cooking it.” She’d wink, trying to be playful, “How have you been feeling?”
As she hands out the rest of the meals for the evening, Shae would do her usual medical checks on the previously wounded and check-in on the general the well being of everyone in the group.
When approaching the Professor, Shae would actually take a seat beside him, “Thank you Professor. You took a lot of risks today, and have been a key to much of our success through this jungle with your skilled magics and knowledge.” She’d bow her head to him, “I hope to learn more from you as we continue our journey.” Shae would eat her meal there with the professor.
"I'm fine, really" Maxine reflexively touched her cuts, hidden by long sleeve. "Better than at the morning, in fact." And to change uncomfortable subject thanked Shae for mushrooms: "Every cook is nervous about the dishes, of course, bu you not need too - it was great. To spoil the mushrooms you really has to work on it. Even my cousin Drom, that could not make a sandwich without ruining it, still could make acceptable shrooms. Yours are good, believe me."
The Professor is flattered by Shae’s attention, and he tries to humbly comfort the sensitive soul.
”Truly I was moved by the creature’s cries of pain as well. Thankfully I had spells which could aid it from a distance. I am no brave warrior like Berrus, so I risked little of my personal safety,” he says.
After further thought and halfway through dinner, the Professor adds, “Thank you for the meal. I refuse to let the experience with the monkeys make me cruel to all the wildlife here, but we should remain very cautious. Perhaps we can learn something of the jungle and its inhabitants even as we struggle to escape it.”

To Maxine: "That's very true. They say we are our own worst critic." Shae would smile to her.
To the Professor: She'd nod along to his reflection on the monkeys. "I completely agree." Shae didn't really have to say much else. He put her own feelings into words. She did feel the same.
Afterwards Shae would gather all the cutlery and utensils, clean them and pack them away for their next use. She would continue to assist tending to the fire and would take her place for watch.
Looking over the party, Shae inspects the bandages over Bertrand's eye, and apart from a slight reddening around the wound, he is healing well- Shae changes his bandages and applies a small amount of a salve, to prevent infection. Brax' broken leg is healing well, and although painful, he's able to limp on it again, though still supported by the splint. Cliff is fatigued by the march, and has some scrapes on hands and arms, but is otherwise unharmed. Falx' broken arm is healing slightly crooked, as he can't hold it as immobile as Shae would like. After a brief discussion with him, she uses some of the splinting supplies to splint the arm and fix it to his chest, to immobilise it as much as possible. He'd likely see some muscle atrophy, but any further shifting in the healing bones should be prevented as a result. Thasselandra is tired, and mentally exhausted, but is glad that they now know where the party is located, and is taking solace in the fact that they as a group have a goal to strive towards. Berrus is fast asleep, but unharmed. Faekin is still covered in bruises from the fall, but he's otherwise unharmed. Maxine is slightly warm to the touch, and looking at some of the scrapes on her arm, they are red with infection, to which Shae also applies some salve. The Professor is calm and collected, taking the break to jot down notes and make mental preparations for the days to come. Checking herself last, she only notices some mosquito bites and slight scratches, but none of them seem infected.
In total, you use 3 uses of your healer's kit.
Satisfied with the check-up, Shae takes her place and starts her guard shift, looking out into the streaming rain. One thing was for certain, as long as it was raining so torrentially, no predators would be prowling around their camp. Well done Shae, silver linings everywhere...

While others begin waking and the sun begins to break through from the rain, Shae would want to try to take a closer look around the area at the tracks in the mud. With the light of day maybe she may be able to make out what kind of tracks there were. Shae, maybe one of the others may want to look with you.
“Last night we were watched. I tried investigating last night but kept coming back short. There are footprints we may be able to inspect further this morning to perhaps gage who or what they belong too.”
The Professor stretches and wakes up, satisfied that his Alarm spell was undisturbed overnight. Kicking the fire back up with the wave of a hand, he heats up some water in preparation for breakfast while pulling out his spellbook for his morning study.
Hearing Shae’s comment, Snively looks over in her direction and smiles, secretly hoping that the panther came back by to try and offer its thanks in some way. “Snively, you are getting sentimental again—it’ll get you killed out here” whispers his logical side to his consciousness...but the smile remains as he turns back to his spellbook.
