Tefkae is casually looking The Scholar over as everyone else responds. By the time they each have their answer, the construct nods to herself and says, "Indeed. You do a pleasant shape, and decent child bearing hips. This aside, might I see this book regarding the Dark Prince? Or any reference dragons?"They asked curiously. If/When book is in hand, the construct would not only try to gauge its age, but also look for further references of a mist or The Light, and see if they too have any interesting interplay.

The Scholar seems surprised. "I've... never had anyone ask to look at my history records before..." She says, her tone quieter and stunned. "O-of course! Please, feel free to take one of the ancient scripts to read with you when you go to rest." She offers for the group to borrow a book each if they want. "Oh, though I would prefer that nothing bad comes toward them. They are our sacred texts, after all." She hands one of the books to Tefkae, another novel about 100 pages long by the looks of it, possibly as old as the book Zack inspected.
Zack is a little excited to get a book in his hands. He wonders when it would be the best time to start reading it and if he would be able to finish reading it if he stayed up late. He researches necromancy but he enjoys reading story books.
Tefkae is quiet and focused slolely on reading the book at hand for a time. No matter how fantastical or insignificant the information, the veteran never seems to become disheartened by moment to moment. "Curious-..."They carefully close the book, and offers it back to The Scholar. "Inquiry: Has The Hunter recently submitted any maps, or pass along any information regarding strange happenings beyond the bounds of the town? In addition, is it 'normal' for many inhabitants to remain within their homes for an extensive time?"

"The hunter doesn't share those bits with me." The Scholar says, a slight bitterness to her tone. "Apparently the geography of beyond the borders of The Town are a different subject to the histories." She pouts and crosses her arms.
(If anyone wants to borrow a book, feel free to roll a d100 and I'll let you know what the book is.)
Zack is not going to borrow any books other than the one that the scholar already gave him. Not sure if I still need to roll for that but just in case, here's a d100: 34
Seizing the opportunity, Tefkae would borrow one of the books. One could never be too uncertain how such "Ancient Scripts" may come in hand later down the line. Having otherwise nothing more to say to the Scholar, she looks to the others and says, "Are we ready to seek out the Hunter?"

"who receives the information from the hunter? I believe that information will be vital to our quest if we are to leave this town in search of a way home." Ankor asks trying to pull a little more information out of her by feeding into her love of these stories and the quests they tell of.

The book you picked up is labelled "The Chronicles of Derrin of Caste" It appears to be some sort of longer epic than the other books about an adventurer who goes to face the threats that attempt to invade the land of Caste, with some romantic subtext with the princess.
Ankor:
The front of your book isn't labelled. When you look at the inside, it appears to be filled with strange marks and arcane code. It's a wizard's spellbook!
Ankor thumbs through the book, somewhat confused but not wanting to offend the scholar accepts and puts the book into his satchel. While still waiting for a response from his inquiry.

"The Mayor, of course." The Scholar tells the group. "Any findings or news of importance is first reported to The Mayor, and then The Mayor delegates the information down to the other roles as needed." She then mumbles. "Wish he would include me on some of the other things..."
"It was seem that the order of operations then has been misinterpreted." Tefkae comments. "Though I suppose that certain records and information is sensitive enough to warrant more careful management from 'The King'."Soon after saying this, they step over and pat The Scholar's shoulder. "There, there. Having met the Mayor, I am certain such withholding has not been without cause. Though if you have perhaps shown yourself to be more enthusiastic about your current station, he may become more inclined to share in the future." With that, construct then tries to boop the Scholar on the nose.

Ankor thinks to himself 'Why would the mayor be withholding certain information from the scholar, does he not want specific situations recorded in the histories of the town? what does he have to gain by doing this? More questions need more information' He then speaks to the group following up to Tefake's question to find the hunter. "perhaps it is time to seek out this hunter if they are not at their home, let's try and meet up with Captain Obaysch to see how he and 8-bit are fairing with the supplies for the ship."

Zack looks to Tefkae's interaction with a look of great interest. It seems that he is making a mental note of some kind. Once out, he responds to Ankor, "I agree with meeting up with the Captain. Our first priority should be to find a way out of here."
Tefkae manages to boop The Scholar on the snoot. She seems startled and confused about this interaction, her brow furrows as she grabs her notebook and scribbles some other notes as the group takes their leave.
"That's right! Well done, Number One!" The chuckling guffaws of Captain Obaysch is heard down the street. Headed towards the loud giff's noises, the group finds the captain holding several wrapped planks of wood over one shoulder and holding his jacket over the other; his carrying capabilities are commendable, and it would be unbecoming to get sawdust or splinters stuck in his jacket. With him the little defective modron is carrying its mop as usual, but also a bucket with some nails and tools in. They appear to be wandering towards the group, as if they were headed back towards The Mayor's estate. "Ah, there you are! Perfect, I have procured some supplies from their carpenter and some tools from their smith. We can begin on repairs imminently!"
"That is good to hear, Captain. We were just on our way to see 'The Hunter' for more information. And given the circumstances, they can potentially guide us safely back to the ship."Tefkae stated, though only after the fact looked up from the book currently in hand. Mr. Pepper, who had been fluttering along above the group, tries to land atop Captain's Obay's head as the construct adds, "If you two are so ready to depart, you should accompany us."

Eight-Bit gives a small salute. "Indubitably, we shall sally forth and recruit this hunter to aid us." Cpt. Obaysch nods. "Lead on!"
The group heads towards what they have been informed is The Hunter's home. The house looks similar to the many others in the town, blending in with all the other homes. However, there is the signs of a woodsman of some sort being here, some lumber and hatchets piled up to one side, a few rope nets hung on hooks on the side wall, amongst other hunting tools sheltered by a small wooden canopy.
"Hmm, seems like someone lives here. Utterly filthy, but beggars can't be choosers, what?" The giff comments to the group.
"So you're the travellers, are you?" A voice calls out. Popping their head out of an open window on the upper floor of the building is a human woman. She has her hair tied back, a little over shoulder length and showing a slightly muddied youthful face, and from what is seen her upper body is garbed in some leather armour. "Thought I heard some folk I didn't recognise. You wait there, don't make me have to hunt you down." She retreats back into the building, closing the window.
"Hmm, I'm not sure about this one..." The captain says. "No sound manners by the look of it and terrible hygiene, hmph..."
The door opens to show The Hunter stands a little over five feet tall, her armour seems tanned and sturdy, with some telltale signs of being used often. She has a pair of shortswords strapped to her hip and a small wooden box on her other hip. She glances the group up and down. "Funny looking group, aren't you?" She comments. "Well, The Mayor's goons left me a message, guess you're not planning on settling down here, huh?"
Tefkae had nodded along in absent-minded agreement to the Captain, assuring him at least one member of the crew had some taste. Just as it seems they might step up to give the tools a closer look, the voice above almost seems to startle her out of a trance. "Undoubtedly."The construct immediately replied, prior to shifting into a more formal stance. Once the woman disappeared back inside, Tefkae couldn't help but cock her head to the side in confusion. "Curious. It was not our appearance, as she had not been watching outer world perhaps, but the particular sounds of our approach that was taken notice of."
Turning back to the captain they add, "If nothing else, sir, it is more evidence that we have reached the right destination, and that this individual has a fair amount of the experience that we need."Of course by the time Tefkae finishes, the Hunter exits not long after, earning a careful once over by the construct. "Funny looking? How odd. I assure you, some of us have been made to fit to exacting detail. And yes, you are correct. We have business elsewhere, and cannot afford to waste too much time upon this plane. Though that said, we require your help in further our investigations of this land."There is then a brief pause, followed by Tefkae canting their head again in confusion. "Mayor's goons?"

"Yes, you know, the guards." The Hunter nods. "They take orders directly from The Mayor, never questioning and all that." She stretches. "Well, what do you need me for? My role is to head out and fight the mist beasts before they attack The Town. Unless you want to go on a hunt, I'm probably not the one you want. Pretty sure The Scholar would be better suited for finding something about leaving outside of the usual way. You know, getting lost in the mists, never to be heard from again..."
