Tefkae glances to the others, and noting some hesitation on the parts of some, pantomime's sighing as she turns back to the Hunter. "We have been informed that most details in regards to the 'outside' has not be distributed from The Mayor to the Scholar. Information that you may possess, if unwittingly so, from traversing the mist as you do, fighting the beasts, as it were." The construct explains. "In addition, we would need a guide either way back to our ship to begin repairs. In exchange of either services, we would assist you in hunting these mist beasts, and or mapping the land. In this way, if you should find yourself needing to range further, you will possess such knowledge for future hunts. Is this acceptable, Knight."
It is after the last word is spoken that Tefkae looks at the Huntress more closely for any sign of a reaction.
The Hunter seems somewhat confused about the mention of Knight. However, she seems to think of it as some foreign misconception she is not familiar with.
"Well if you're headed out of The Town, then you're looking at the right girl for the job." The Hunter tells the group. "A couple of the other roles temporarily head to the outskirts, probably how you came across them. However, none of them have a Hunter's Lantern. You want to get further away from here, you'll need to stick with me."
"Mainly how long it lasts." The Hunter tells Zack. "See, the lanterns don't stay lit forever. The one I carry in my role is smaller, so easy to carry, and can last much longer than say the guard's items before they need to be rededicated by The Priest."
"Well if you can supply this lantern and guide us back to our ship that would be capital!" Cpt. Obaysch tells The Hunter.
"Well hold on, I'm sure there's more to this than just wandering back." The Hunter says. "How about you tell me about yourselves and what you've seen beyond the mists? Here, we can head in and have a quick drink before heading out."
Tefkae looks between the group and the Huntress. "That... is acceptable. Though, you should prepare yourself, as much of what any one of us might have to say will come out sounding fantastical at best. But rest assured that no duplicity will be imparted, so long as it is reciprocated." The construct warns as she moved to follow after The Hunter. "Also, I do not require drink. The offer is however appreciated. I will mark you as 'amicable' in my records."

"Not entirely sure on the word, but sounds positive." The Hunter tells Tefkae. "C'mon in."
If The Scholar would be described as untidy, The Hunter would be just a disaster. There is some furniture, but it seems buried under piles of woven nets, small piles of uncarved wood, a bag of nails, amongst other items that might fathomably used in making hunting kits. There are small piles of herbs that appear to be hung from the walls, leaving a very slight aroma like a very basic form of potpourri. Sailor sneezes, seemingly not liking the smell too much.
"Take a seat where you can. Oh, and take a leather hide, it'll prevent splinters." She hands over what appear to be small scraps of cowhide. In the middle of the room is a small fire pit, over which a pot has been placed. The Hunter takes out a small tinderbox and begins to light a fire beneath it. "So, now we're in my home, why not chat openly? Less of The Mayor's eyes on us and all that."
Zack thinks the last comment about the Mayor is a little off. He says, "It sounds ro me like the Mayor... er... keeps a close eye on... you? Or does he keep a close eye on the everyday activities of all the villagers?" Again, Zack doesn't sit but rather remains standing close to the back of the party.
"Who else do you think the cats report to?" The Hunter tells Zack. "Think that we'd allow such strange beasts to go about anywhere they want, not even asking about it? The townsfolk don't get out much, so pretty sure they're losing it a bit up here." She taps her head. "You know, heading out into the mists and fighting off some of the stuff out there, it does open your eyes a bit."
Zack listens to the Hunter but he can't help think about that hoax that was going around his locality that one time where people were claiming pigeons weren't really and that they were actually miniature golems or constructs made by the government to spy on people. However, this is a new plane of existence so that hoax has no relevance here. He continues asking the Hunter questions, "The cats report what everyone is doing to the mayor? Is this something that this Mayor does or did all previous Mayors do something similar? And do you have any theories as to why the Mayor might want to spy on everyone? Does he suspect-" He was about to say some nonsense about Mist Beast Cults but he stops himself just in time to not make people think he was going crazy. He finishes, "Does he suspect something?"
"That's the thing, no one seems to recall who was The Mayor before this one!" The Hunter tells Zack, looking overly keen to vent this to someone. "Everyone's happy with their Role and just doing that, it's like no one has... what's the word... mind not closed... must be a word for it. Anyway, I'm telling you that you could be my ticket out of here. I want to be The Hunter that managed to hunt a way out of the mists!"
Sailor whines a little, sinking his head into Victoria's lap.
"Hmm, well I wouldn't say no to an extra set of hands on my ship." Cpt. Obaysch muses. "However, you seem to be a little... eccentric. And that is coming from a giff." He chortles to himself. "Oh, and you had best work on your cleanliness if you were to work on my ship!"
Eight-Bit, in the meantime, appears to be having a lot of fun, rushing to all the terrible darkened stains on the floor, mopping them to the best of its abilities.
Zack looks around sheepishly before saying, "We... I... Will think about it and let you know. In the meantime, you said that... no one knows who the mayor was before this one? Surely it was not that long ago? They've heard tales from parents and grandparents? Nothing?"
Ankor finally speaks up, he is standing in the corner just beside the door to the house, as most chairs will not fit his stature. "The scholar was an apprentice, she mentioned that she was taught by an elder. Is the same for you? were you taught by someone to show you the way around the lands outside the village? Perhaps you have maps of areas uncovered by your self as well as others before you?"

As everyone is talking back and forth, Tefkae had to step way and let Mr. Pepper fly outside to keep watch from The Hunter's roof top. And if he sees any cat paying far too much mind of the place, he was to report to Tefkae mentally immediately. With that out of the way, Tefkae returns to the others just as wordlessly as she stepped away with their arms folded behind the construct's back, and standing at full attention. Though on the rare occasion, their attention drifts to keep an eye on Eight-Bit's side shenanigans.
"Perhaps it is the extended effects of the mist in addition to the isolation it subjects all to some degree?" Tefkae questions noone in particular while thumbing their chin.

"Heh, well I guess The Hunter kinda learns their role a little different to others." The Hunter tells the group. "You see, The Hunter learns from training and instinct on their own, unlike other roles who pick their successor. It's kinda like The Hunter's lantern picks it. When a hunter is lost to the mists, whoever finds the lantern becomes the new Hunter. I found the lantern at the end of the street one day, and now here I am."
The pot begins to bubble as the water finally reaches boiling temperature. The Hunter adds some powdered herbs into the water as a moderately pleasant aroma slowly flows out with the steam. "You see, I was planning to try and be what my sister is, The Scholar, but whilst we were growing up I found the lantern. That meant I had to learn how to be The Hunter instead. Now The Scholar works for The Mayor, and I barely get to see her because of our roles." The Hunter sighs. "Anyway, I want to hear about your towns, the places beyond the mists."
"A measure of sentience, then."Tefkae would comment on following the initial story, then slip into a stint silence. Within that time they ponder on possible schools, entities -- or really, any magics that might similiar be drawn in such a matter. As a result, they are slow to respond to The Hunter's inquiry, but respond they do with some hesitance. "This one did not live in a town, but rather a city whose buildings were all so tall, bridges were erected in the upper levels as both a means of support and traversing the upper levels. And in the lower levels -- the lower strata, due to both the buildings and bridges, the folk almost never see the sun. Ever."
Tefkae taps their forehead next. "And there were deeper levels still. The bones of ancient empire, or so it was told. Such things mattered little beyond the game that I was often tasked to Hunt. Game that was typically wise enough to not risk diving so deep... I may be directing this to the wrong person. However, as information to you is less censored it seem, I shall ask... has anyone ever refused the calling to your knowledge? And, do you feel a particular connection to 'The Hunter's' lantern. One that you have thus far been unable to place?"

"Well yeah, I'm pretty much bonded to it, and I guess it's bonded to me." The Hunter tells Tefkae. "See, if The Hunter finds themselves without their lantern out there. Well, I guess that's how the lantern returns alone." She stretches a little before picking up a wooden spoon to give the boiling water a stir. "I have some limited links to it, so I can call it to me from a short distance, maybe a few hundred feet away. I've been trying to work out the extent of how long I can be in the mists without a lantern, calling it to my side after a minute or two of it being away from me and all that."

Ankor hearing about this lantern seemingly being able to 'float' or hover by some means and follow along with the hunter starts to look around the room to locate the lantern to see if it is indeed floating or resting upon a table or hanging from a hook. as he is looking he asks "So it just follows you as you travel or it only moves once called, otherwise you have to hold it?"
(I'm assuming investigation not perception since I am actively looking for something particular)
"Nah, it just stays where I place it." The Hunter tells Ankor. "But, if I call for it, up here." She taps her forehead, the stretches out her hand. There is the slight chime and rattle of something metallic before flying through down the stairway to the floor above the lantern flies into The Hunter's outstretched hand. It looks a little similar to the two larger lanterns in The Priest's possession, but sized about the size of a standard bullseye lantern. The markings are slightly different, too, and it emits the same eerie grey light. "Just like that." She says, putting it onto a loop on her belt.
