While you pray at the small dias the dragonborn waits patiently behind you and begins flipping a coin. You can't see it but you get the impression he's shaking his head in disapproval. After a few minuets of prayer to stand up and the dragonborn has a grim look on his face when he approaches you. This won't do at all, no not at all. You my friend are definitely suffering from bad luck. You've likely already noticed that in your day to day I'd wager. But on 10 coin flips you got one successful one. This is simply not good. Have you done anything to offend Tymora or perhaps your own God recently? Broken any mirrors or walked under any ladders?
Narz, Vyncent claps at the display and shouts Wonderful simply wonderful! I can see how you folks earned your titles as heros. Well, its obvious to me you know what you're doing so, if you would like to leave the gold with me and let me know where I may drop off the scrolls when I'm finished. Oh and if you'd like to stay for dinner or need a place to stay for the night I'm more than happy to accommodate you have only to ask. (and Narz that's fine. He agrees to the prices per scroll you gave so just deduct the gold add the scrolls to your inventory)
Rollo laughs, "Ya, that seems about my luck. As for offending a god, I don't know. I've lived in the woods until 2 weeks ago, so a mirror or ladder is unlikely. Maybe I stepped on a wrong mushroom?" He shrugs.

The dragonborn shakes his head disapproving and says Well all sorts of things can offend Lady luck. She is a fickle mistress to be sure. Unfortunately this means I'm not able to help you, I apologize but whatever it is you're looking for im afraid you will not find it her. You may want to be more careful when around friends moving forward. Bad luck is contagious after all.

"The offer is appreciated, and even tempting. But alas, I should return to the others sooner than later for some bonding." Narz smirks. "Perhaps another time. It is not often that I get to speak with a fellow practitioner -- nay, a potential master at the Arcane Art." At that he passes along the necessary coin, and relays Vyncent need only send it to the Duchess' keep. Worst case scenario, he'd need only get in contact with Zack or Nadia or the Duchess about picking it up from there, if the band was to be relocated during the wait.
At that, he only lingers long enough to finish his tea and for idle chatter before returning to the keep. The very next day if not the same night he asked Claire if she found one able to outfit mountains, and made a point to visit the next day with Vigo the Worg to ask about getting some scale mail equivalent armor done for the Worg. At some point the night before he would also relay to the others about Lady Malbore if any wish to spend the coin for extra healing potions.
(Gold deducted for scrolls. Waiting to confirm if Narz can get his mount outfitted as well)
Rollo purses his lips but stops himself from saying something. He turns on his heel and leaves the temple before he does something he'll regret, and Zack will have to arrest him for.
He then heads to tge nearest patch of trees he can find for so he can spend some time in quiet contemplation.

Rollo finds a quiet spot outside the city where he can meditate in solitude. Once far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the city all seems quiet and serene. The cill of the air signaling the first weeks of winter have arrived and cloudy skies forecast a potential for snow.
Narz you can outfit your mount same as Claire. Check the horse armor entry for pricing. He can make anything from the lightnir medium armor classes. Next post will be new character introductions so stand by for that.
A few days go by without much incident and you're able to collect all armor and scroll commissions. On a cold and windy day you find that you are all summoned to a sitting area of the keep and are escorted into the room. Inside you find both the Duchesses and Lord Bladesemmer along with two unfamiliar faces, a woodelf of light brown skin and dark eyes as well as a creature none of you have seen before, a tortle. When you enter you are all seated and the Duchess begins the meeting. Welcome all of you. Let's skip the pleasantries and get straight to the matter at hand. Lord Bladesemmer here has been filling me in on all that I've missed while held captive and it seems there's quite a bit of trouble brewing outside our walls. The Lords initial reason for visiting was to secure my aid as a member of the Lords Alliance in aiding refugees as well as supporting an investigation into these recent giant attacks. If you've spent any amount of time in the city I'm sure you've heard all the same gossip I have, hill giants raiding settlements for food, cloud giant castles seen flying over head only to stop and attack nearby settlements, fire and ice giants rampaging in the far north. Giant kind as usually kept to themselves, they see us as mere nuisances most of the time and the truth is if they wanted us gone there's little we could do to stop them. Thankfully it seems they are fighting amongst themselves but that still means we are all caught in the middle. I would task you all with investigating giant activity in the area. See if you can learn why this is happening and if you can do something to help put an end to these attacks then do. The Duchess turns to Lord Bladesemmer who takes over. Yes, unfortunately we do not have a lot of leads to go on. The attacks seem random, so its hard to predict where the next one might occur. Stilm if you learn of an impending attack it would be your duty to try and prevent it or at least come to the aid of a settlement finding itself under giant seige. We of course do not expect you to undertake this alone. Lord Bladesemmer gestures to the two people in the room.
This is Aeyd. He gestures to the elf. She is a monk of some talent whose monastery was destroyed by giants not too long ago. She came into my service in Waterdeep shortly after her arrival. The Tortle here is Tarsus, a spellcaster type. He also came into my service after a trip to Candlekeep. I'll let them both introduce themselves in a moment but both have agreed to join you for this matter. Assuming you all agree to aid us that is, you would of course be rewarded but more importantly you'd be helping bring peace and stability to the sword coast, something that is sorely needed. The fact is, the giants recent activity only shows signs of getting worse, if something isn't done then I suspect many innocents will suffer for it. If you are inclined to help, we would direct you north. While our leads are few we have had a lot of Hill Giant activity in the lands surrounding Waterdeep. In fact its this activity that first brought me here seeking aid in the first place.
As you're all talking a black furred winged cat hops up on the table near the Waterdavien Noble, a letter held in its mouth. It drops the letter on the table and meows loudly. Ah yes. There is also the matter of this letter and the Tressym. I believe you may be familiar with him, his name is Rillex. Master Zack and Lady Nadia were supposed to deliver both Rillex and this letter to a fellow named Miros who lives in the settlement of Goldenfields. It seems his parents died in Nightstone during a giant attack, the letter is supposed to inform him of such and Rillex here longs to be with family. Goldenfields is a large settlement North of Waterdeep. It acts as a sort of Temple/farm. The settlement is dedicated to Chauntea, the goddess of agriculture, and its not exaggeration to say that they produce most of the fresh produce people eat in the North. Its only a theory, but such a settlement would be a prime target for the glutinous Hill giants, so if I had to guess where the next attack may take place, I'd say Goldenfields is high on the list. It is of course highly defensible which is why I believe its not been attacked yet, but who knows for how long that will deter the giants. So my proposal is such, we send you all to Goldenfields. You can deliver the letter and dear Rillex here to Miros, and then contact the man in charge of Goldenfields Abbot Ellardin Darovik. You will offer your services to aid him in anyway he needs and you will also investigate any strange activity that may be related to the giants. Should the need arise you will also protect the settlement from attack. I'll remind you that if Goldenfields falls thousands of people will starve. Goldenfields is settlement and stronghold of the Emerald Enclave, so you should find several rangers and druids already protecting the settlement quite effectively. I do not expect they would fail their task and any direct involvement by the Lords Alliance may be seen as an act of aggression against the Enclave, but as you are not Lords Alliance members I see no reason your presence would cause any issues.
Lord Bladesemmer clears his throat and takes a sip of water. My apologies, I realize I've spoken so much I've not given you a chance to speak. Please, if you have questions or concerns speak them now, if all is agreed then I'll let you all get to know eachother before heading out. Ideally I would like you on the road by tomorrow morning at the latest, its a long ride to Waterdeep and another few days from there to Goldenfields.
Rollo nods. "Those attacks were literally the reason I came here in the first place, so I have no problem with going. I also serve a god of battle so it does make some sense for me to go where the battles will be."

The tortle clears his throat, as he begins to introduce himself. Ah-hem. First I would like to correct one thing, My name is Torsus, not Tarsus Lord Bladesemmer. But it is fine, I understand it has been a long time. he says, mentally projecting to the lord And it is good to be working with you again, old friend. Standing up then more than he was before, he turned to those he would be soon allying with to better address them.. Torsus Eravull. Wanderer, Seeker of all knowledge I can possess. However, do not worry I will be capable in a fight. I have survived more than a century, though this will be my first true... hmmm... adventure, foray? No... Quest... Mission... Yes that sounds proper.
The tortle was covered in several layers of clothing, including winter attire that hung over it all. Connected to his shell in various ways, including via ropes secured around his body were most of his possessions. His skin was dry, thin, and wrinkled though only as much as a human in their 60's might be. His skin itself was a mottled green, while his eyes had Heterochromia, meaning one was Amber, while the other Violet, whether that meant anything or was simply a condition of birth was hard to tell. He wore no armor, as likely no armor would fit his body short of perhaps a helmet, gloves, or boots, which he was wearing boots meant to keep the feet warm and water out, considering Winter was coming™.
Currently strapped to his thigh, was a round metal targe shield sitting atop a book, hooked to his belt with a metal chain. Strapped to his other side was a wand in the fashion of a serpent ready to consume, mouth agape.
It is an honor to meet with you, heroes of Daggerford. he says, taking a bow, using that to mask the movements of his fingers, his whispers casting Major Image, as he touches the hem of his clothing made of fleece. And behind you is my friend, and mount. His name is Deception. just a few feet behind Rollo and Claire sat a young adult Black Dragon, his curved horns, and black scales glimmering in the light from the windows even as his acidic scent filled the room, as he looked between the pair making no move to attack. Torsus had informed Bladesemmer of his intentions to do this prior, so as to prevent panic as he intended it to be somewhat of a display of his prowess. The image spoke in a deep, gravelly voice, accompanied with faint sounds of 'hissing' accentuating his speech So these are the mortals we are bound to now Torsus? They look quite .. .Delic... useful. The dragon had appeared there without so much as a sound...
Pardon me sirs, I have a message delivery from the Master at Ar...It was unfortunate for the servant boy.. who walked in then, to deliver a rather large set of parchments, as he walked in to see the dragon, and hear it speak, the parchments falling to the ground as he quaked in fear at the sight.
DC 15 investigation to see that it's an Illusion. The parchments contain relevant information that Zack/Nadia learned so the party won't be going in uninformed, and so Urb won't have to re-state it all.
Dear Claire, Dear Rollo,
This all began for us in the town of Nightstone. We had gone there under the pretense of diplomatic delegation only to find the town in shambles after a giant attack, with Goblins looting and pillaging. According to a Giant we met named Zephyros, who .. apparently flies around in a massive giant-sized tower, the giants stole the Night-stone from Nightstone, because he believes that they believe it will help them in some way in what is currently going on.
And to that end, let me explain to you what 'Is currently going on.' Apparently, we're caught up in the middle of some power struggle with the giants. I'll repeat as much as I remember of what Zephyros told me about it;
"For those of you who do not know, the giants have a caste system in their society called the Ordning. At the top are the storm giants who are the biggest and strongest among their kind. At the very bottom are the hill giants, stupid creatures who are often cause more trouble than anything else. This caste system is enforced, in part, by everyone's willingness to keep to it. However, more importantly its enforced by the "All Father." The "All Father" is chief among their gods, and their gods impose this caste system on them. This prevents fighting among the various races of Giants, as well as providing order. However, for reasons he's not entirely sure of yet, the Ordning has been broken and their gods silent. Now...well it's simply chaos. Many nobles among giant society have retreated to their homes and lairs, gathering their forces and trying to do whatever they can to put themselves at the top. As you can see by evidence of Nightstone, they do not care if small folk get hurt in the process. He believes my people are looking for artifacts they think may be relics of some import in regards to their history, but he doesn't know for sure. He worries that the small folk may retaliate against his kind, and between that and the infighting already occurring, it could be quite disastrous indeed."
That's more or less the Gist of it. Please take care of Rillex in our stead, we've already apologized to him several times for not being able to keep Nadar's promise. We wish you luck in this, and hope to hear tales of your victory, or at-least success in preventing more tragedy. There is also another matter I will be looking into while you're all out. Hopefully by the time you're done I will have the information needed.
Also, there is some group tied to a man or woman named Yan-C-Bin, trying to gain the favor of the cloud giants. I don't know more.
As unlikely as it is, if you do ever meet Zephyros, make sure to ask him to follow proper human tradition!
Signed,
Zack Fair, Master at Arms.

Rollo flinches for a second at the sight of the dragon before a wide grin crosses his face. He decides not to say anything, letting the others have their own reaction.
Enough details are passed along as to make Narz regret not having a book and pen at the ready to record it all. Yet, enough trust was there to be able to believe recalling it later possible, as he's soon refocusing on studying the new arrivals. In regards to Aeyd, bushy brows became furrowed and the slightest frown briefly touched the corner of his lips just at the sight of her alone. With Nadia, it had been easier to extent to suppress indoctrinated 'dislike' for the elven blooded. For although a full blood herself, she did not carry herself the same way.
This one though... this one left him wary. He then looked to the Tortle, who frankly left him both fascinated and a smidgen surprise by appearance alone. While at most he's heard rumors of such a race even existing, Tarsus would be the first he's ever seen anywhere. Narz eventually catches himself and stops brushing the beard to give the Duchess and Bladesemmer the full attention they rightly had for the rest of the details. "Understood Lord Bladesemmer. Fortunately, I have no further questions." He replied simply, and with a hand at his chest, partially bowed at the waist in respect.
Before the hobgoblin can think to speak to the new arrivals next, the tortle beats him to the punch. He quirked a brow at the mention surviving more than a century, and soon found himself wondering if the Tortle might have some fey connections. Could that be why the Duchess said spellcaster as he possessed abilities and knowledge to esoteric to be a typical wizard, sorcerer, or even a cleric? Just as his eyes are drawn to curious wand strapped to his hip, his eyes snap up and are immediately narrowed at the tortle. Whether it was the harsh training all would be Devestators went through, Hobgoblin paranoia, or something deeper altogether, Torsus spell isn't complete without him looking back up to a far more hardened expression out of the hobgoblin.
It is for that reason he hadn't turned as the others might when the dragon spoke, and instead divided his attention between keeping watch on the tortle and running through a laundry list of spells in case this was some odd revenge attempt of the Baroness recently bound. Perhaps once Bladesimmer or the Duchess spoke up further on the Tortles behalf he may calm. But for now, he daren't let his lips part for even a word, least he become tongue tied from any emergency switching to an incantation.

Claire's eyes widen at the dragon, and a wide grin, not dissimilar to Rollo's though for a very different reason, crosses her face. "Wow! A dragon is your mount! That's incredible. Hey dragons are like, really strong, huh? Never seen one and don't know much about em but people seem to get excited when they're brought up." She turns back to the tortle. "How'd you get him to work for you? Are you guys like, reptile buddies?"

Aeyd would find it to be quite the honor to sit amongst the hero's of Daggerford, never having anticipated being chosen to travel along side them for their new upcoming mission. There's a slight glint in their eyes as they look over the group, a polite smile adorning her lips as they listened to Lord Bladesemmer introduce her (in which she would bow respectively to them) and the tortle, then press on to what the next step would be for them.
On first impression, Aeyd seemed to be reserved and polite, sitting up straight with their hands folded before them on the table, never one to waver their gaze for too long on the individual that spoke. One distinct thing about her, however, was her tattoos, one being a red oval in the middle of their forehead, the next written in script (which Narz could easily decipher as Draconic) underneath her right eye, and two others that adorned her toned forearms. Her long burgundy hair had been pulled back into a high ponytail with her bangs forming her face allowing those who looked upon her to see her keen dark brown eyes.
The elf couldn't help giving Torsus an amused look when he had corrected the lord when he spoke up to properly introduce himself, though it would fade when the tortles mount would make itself known.

Aeyd quirks a brow, impressed at Torsus' mount, unable to see through the illusion at all. "Impressive, I must say."She admits, turning to the Tortle. "I would also like to know how you've acquired such a magnificent being to work with you, sir Torsus."

Torsus is utterly oblivious to the expressions coming his way, at-least until he raises his head once more to see how well his spell had gone off. Seeming satisfied with the results, even if he wasn't' aware that Rollo had seen through it. A light smile crossing his face, as it always did when a trick went through. Both hi arms went behind his back, as one would if standing military, just barely meeting in the back. Seeing that the boy was terrified, Torsus spoke to the boy telepathically (so as not to ruin the illusion for the others) and said Do not worry child, it is but an illusion of mine own conjuring. To demonstrate my skills to my soon-to-be allies. Apologies for scaring you, but it can no more harm you than the air. he said , as he conjures up a Mage Hand to help pick up what the boy dropped barring him not getting further bothered by the sudden mind link.
Once Claire spoke up, he smiled wider. Ha, no no. We met several years ago, when he was smaller. I saved him from a slaying party. They were intent to kill the 'evil bastard dragon' before it grew up. Thus is owes me a life debt, and we made a pact. He is bound to me, and I am bound to him. Much to my chagrin, but A deal is a deal. Oh, come now Deception, don't lie to them. You like it, and are happy to be with me and assist me as we protect one another no? *sigh* yes yes, you know I only tease so that our new friends don't get the wrong idea. And I promise not to eat any of you, lest ye die. In which case..... the dragon said with a smirk.
And you not hearing of dragons... is... surprising we are some of the most legendary and powerful creatures on the mortal plane.... Have you never heard of the Rage that ravishes your land periodically? Have you never seen a beautiful creature like myself, though perhaps of a slightly different shape or color that is the size of a large building flying through the sky even once? Never heard any legends or stories? If so you must have lived a very sheltered life.... Deception... That is quite rude. Many people don't know of many things until they learn of them.at which point, the dragon scoffed but acquiesces.
Rollo rolls his eyes at the performance. "I believe we get the point mage. Though I wish you did have such a friend. A powerful ally would be good if we're giant hunting."

Claire goes red in the face at being lightly chastised for not knowing much of dragons. She appears to be about to say something when Rollo makes his comment, which confuses her. "I don't understand what you mean... the Dragon is... wait, what?" She takes another look at the dragon and squints her eyes at it. Then sticks her hand out to touch it. ".......... Ah. Magic." She looks to the tortle with a dull expression. "Well that's disappointing. Had me quite impressed for a moment there, though I suppose such an illusion would be useful on a battlefield or otherwise." Then she considers something for a moment, and snickers. "Does that mean you were just talking with yourself? Having a back-and-forth conversation with yourself?" She continues snickering softly as she leans closer to Rollo and speaks quietly, but not quietly enough to be unheard, into his ear. "Is he a mage or a comedian?"

Lord Bladesemmer chuckles at the display before saying Allright Torus you've had your fun. Call off the illusion and let's get back to buisness. And you servant boy, leave the papers here if you would, you are dismissed. The servant child nods and turns to leave after handing the papers over to the Lord who briefly looks them over again. Well, it seems I should have discussed this with the Captain before hand. This does answer some of our questions but it doesn't change the current plan. I'll leave these letters with you if you need them later on, but fornow plan stays the same. Go to Goldenfields, after delivering the letter and bringing Rillex home see the Abbot and offer your assistance. Hopefully you will not be needed but while you are there if he asks anything of you do your best to assist. I'll be heading to Waterdeep shortly after you leave, once I make sure the Duchess has no further need of me. If nothing happens after a few weeks come seek me out there. You're all more than welcomed to winter in my manor. If you find any leads then I expect you to follow up on them. No need to report to me directly or often, just do what you can to help people from these giant attacks and see if you can find a way to stop them for good.
A smile stays on his lips or whatever it was that Tortles have as Rollo breaks the news to the others, and the dragons form becomes insubstantial and clear, though bits of it still remain visible, it's clearly a flasehood to all in the room now. Mage wouldn't quite be the proper term friend, but I understand. A more appropriate term along that line, would be sorcerer! as I derive my power internally, as opposed to externally. But apologies, that is not why we're here. But I agree, that such an ally would make for a powerful enemy to our enemies. And apologies My lady Aeyd, for decieving you. Though it's not as if that isn't... managing to catch himself this time before he went on a tangent about his capabilities. And yes My Lady Fair, I was in effect, conversing with myself. Such Illusions can prove handy in varying situations. I will say only one more... Should we ever need to hide from something.. I can make us ... dissappear. So long as they don't have a powerful nose or rely on something other than sight!
When Bladesemmer spoke up, Torsus bowed just slightly, and with a flick of the wrist, the Dragon disappeared in a flurry of .. for lack of a better term sparkles.. or glitter, though all was yellow, red, or violet in shade. it was clear Torsus wasn't used to etiquette but he still showed respect where it was due. He listened when Bladesemmer spoke, nodding at various points throughout it, pursing his lips a couple of times as he neared the end.
I would be more than glad to end the giant threat, even to the point of Genocide if you wish it. As it would prevent it from ever happening again. Though i feel you wouldn't be fore that.. most likely. Maybe. And as much as I assume we would all love to take you up on that offer... Unless I am Mistaken, there are giants of Fire, and Ice, and even if winter were to delay the others, I doubt these two would rest. Though I know little of giants in general, I know atleast the barest facts, if only thanks to my research and wanderings. So I cannot speak for the others... but.. he says, ruffling his winter clothing I came prepared in expectation of going immediately. I can only speak for myself, but I am ready to go now, or in the morning.
Although again intrigued by the Tortles, if but for his breadth of knowledge, Narz remained on guard until Bladesemmers assertions. Thus calmed, the hobgoblin folded his hands behind his back and even let slip a smile at the mention of genocide, only to frown and furrow his brow at the slip. Morals aside, with the proper application of magic, diplomacy, and force, the giants weren't so different as to warrant full destruction. Not yet, at least. Realizing then the source of the smile to be nothing but pettier emotions seeking purchase, Narz veneer took on a more neutral aspect.
"It'll probably be better to go in the morning, so we can have the night to get to know each other, don't chu know? But, I'm just as ready as this here elder illusionst as any. After all, every moment we're delayed in reaching these Goldenfields means more time for those Giant buddies to continue causing quite the extreme ruckus. And we can't quite have that now, eh?" He said, looking to the others. "Fortunately, I manage to acquire a map just a couple a days ago. And if we keep to the main trading route, we aughta reach there in no time. Not to mention, if there are other rogues plaguing the road up to Waterdeep, well, they might mind find themselves sorely regretting their tom foolery. So, shall we get going?"

^ A decent idea of Torsus' voice. (not the dragons)

"Impressive, I must say." She admits, turning to the Tortle.

Many people don't know of many things until they learn of them. at which point, the dragon scoffed but acquiesces.
Occassional Dungeon Master.
Rollo rolls his eyes at the performance. "I believe we get the point mage. Though I wish you did have such a friend. A powerful ally would be good if we're giant hunting."
Gronk in Bastion, Kingdom of Medrin Elixisys in Talaveroth (Team 2) Uthal in Lost Continent of Theviranne
Occassional Dungeon Master.
