(I ******* hate this website keeps.******* up the rolls. Troll failed takes 8 fall.damage giant passes)
The giantess easily resists the force of the magic but her troll companion is not so sturdy. The troll is dragged up into the air before being dropped to the ground.
Torsus smiles as he see's his spell was worth all the trouble... so far atleast. Focus on the giantess. She is the greater threat. And even if we fail to bring back troll parts as proof, our odds of survival go up. Torsus words come out confident, as they usually do at the beginning of a fight, his body glowing vaguely violet, but only vaguely thus far. The shadow takes that as its masters command, though first two bolts of eldritch energy flow from his finger tips, both intending to pull, though only one would posess the effect, as he attempted to tug the giantess a bit closer....
EB1 - Attack: 18 Damage: 10
EB2 - Attack: 16 Damage: 5
If either hit, one pulls the giantess closer to the party by 10 feet. If the first one pulls, the second one pushes her back. If only the second hits, it only pulls her. Regardless, both are at the giantess.
If sucessfully pulled... this should trigger an AO from the shadow but up to the dm. I will roll regardless and let you adjudicate. The shadow has advantage on attack rolls against frightened creatures (fury)
If the giantess is pulled away, the shadow lashes out once with its bare hands a frigid hand slicing at the giantess body..
Regardless of other factors, the shadow will then (on its own turn which happens directly after mine as per the spell) will either attack, or move to THEN attack the giantess with its frozen claws. Two slashes at her calves or whatever happened to be within reach of its ghastly, shadowed talons.

Torsus strikes the giant with one of his eldritch blasts, pulling the giant forward. Torsus's Shadow takes a swing as she's pulled away but misses. It then charges forward missing again befire managing to connect its claws to the giants legs.

The troll remains frightened and, unable to direct its anger towards anyone without approaching the source of its fear, it begins to flee towards a nearby tree. The giantess is pulled forward by the blast and the shadow claws into flesh as she moves. The giantess roars in pain and anger from the cold as the shadows claws continue to torment her. Then a loud ringing drowns out her roars and the giant begins to stumble as Claires holy spear drives into her sides.
The troll has fled and is out of sight, leaving only the giant there gripping her wounds and breathing heavily. Narz is up.

Narz' composure slips in seeing the giantess brought so low before the party. Because with a wicked grin he bellows out a few harsh words in his native tongue as run off from the Weave is woven into magical darts of force that float above his head. "-And may you rot in the nine where you belong, foolish 'thing'." The giantess regains her balance too late as the bolts of magical energy strike all at once, hitting her gut, chest, neck and head. With little more than a groan she stumbles back and falls over with a loud thud. Combat is over.
Nobody takes a moment to blow off the smoky residue of his spell from his hand and brushes them off each other to boot before looking to the others. "Good work, ya'll. I, uh, do apologize for the seeming sudden shift in plans, as it were. The poisoning was a bit of a spur on the moment. But as far as I was concerned, we've gotten about as much info as we was gonna get without getting too embroiled, or worst yet, caught off guard by the oversized wench." To be clear, the apparition is separate from Torsus (as if there were 2 humanoids, not just Torsus AS a shadow) Torsus and the shadowspawn are separate entities.
Torsus looks over the battle area , mentally commanding his shadowspawn to slash at the neck of the giantess... just to be sure, a nd it handily goes to work on the prone corpse, tearing into flesh until Torsus himself was satisfied that she wouldn't miraculously reawaken... It matters little, though I would be remiss if I did not state that it frustrates me. When I say we should just kill something, you tell me we cannot. When I try to come to your side and not immediately kill the threat, you plot to kill it in my stead. I wish you would find a standard, or be clear on your motives, lest we perpetually tug of war. he sighed, heavily.
The tortle then looking to Narz, in regards to his other question. No, it shant. Unlike most demons, that creature is an extension of my will. It was power given to me by .. my patron of nightmares. It is the result of my efforts. he says, holding up the special gem he'd worked so hard to obtain. However... he said pointedly. Walking over to the rod the giantess had, picking it up, and studying it for a moment.
I cannot be certain if this rod is the same make or kind that the other one posessed, but she claimed it could 'seek artifacts' and that she had found none in the moores... Perhaps we were too hasty in selling off the other one, but if what she says is true, this rod may lead us to items of power... I think we should bring it with us. I will study it as we travel and see if i can discern and understand its properties. If what she said is true, and I can learn of it's secrets, we may have just found a very useful tool.
Narz grimaced a bit, and after looking away and reflecting to some degree, the first 'excuse' to come to mind is just as quickly dismissed with a shake of his head. A comment from the Tortle after which however has him looking again to the elder with a raised brow. "Sold? We ain't sell the other one. At least not yet, last I checked. 'partially as how we ain't been anywhere so far that could take it off our hands for a decent price... least not yet." He explained.
"I still got in my bag of holding 'n all that. But that aside, I'll try to be a bit more clear on objectives... which I thought I was. But look back there were some vagaries in the wording and plenty enough back and forth, which I apologize for." He said, though Claire at the very least might note a hint of grudgingness to his tone. "In any case, let's see what else she's got on her, and collect a tooth or something as proof the main troll rabble rouser has been dealt with. 'cause by the sounds of what she said before, she'd been hustling most if not all the local trolls, encouraging the more cowardly ones to move out of their normal territories, or take out their frustrations more actively out on the locals." In following his own suggestion he reaches out mentally to Spaz and call the airborn cat down to help search the giant's body and carried belongings for anything of interest. Then, if she or Torsus hadn't already by the time he's done, he'd ask for Claire to help him removing proof to take back.

Claire sighs, and then at Narz's request for assistance, she goes to help him retrieve a 'trophy'.
Taking a finger or toe off the giantess is easy enough and concrete enough proof for your deeds here. While searching the giants belongings you find what appears to be spoils from her kills. An assortment of coins and some tattered armor litter the bag but below it you find another backpack. Upon inspecting the backpack you quickly realize that it, much like your bag of holding, has pockets of extra dimensional space. Narz, taking the time to search it, finds several items that indicate this likely belonged to a wizard who had an unfortunate encounter with the giant.
You gain the following loot. 300 gold and 250 silver, 118 copper. A Hewards handy Haversack as well as its contents which includes two spell books, one of which is blank, and some blank scrolls, ink and writing instruments, as well as a golden ring with arcane text engraved on it, a superior potion of healing, a potion of frost giant strength, an oil of etheralness.

Further commentary from the Hobgoblin is put on hold as he went about inspecting the new findings. Any speculations he has on the former carrier is something he keeps to himself. Just as he intended to do the same where it came to the two spellbooks, scrolls, ink and other basic writing implements. He isn't sly about it of course, and would at least explain himself as needed. As he gets to the coinage and realizing they'd need a bit more time to get thing sorted, Narz suggest they at least put an hour's worth of travel between themselves and the giant corpse least the troll got brave and returned with 'friends'. Once the party hopefully got a fair amount of distance away from the giantess' corpse, the hobgoblin rather eagerly sets about identifying the various items within the safety of everyone's favorite mobile fob(ritually casted) things. "Now as far as I'm concern, the books and coin are enough for me. And while I wouldn't mind an extra potion of healing... eh. I got plenty enough as-is. (@Party: Assuming there's no request for larger 'cuts', everyone can add 100 gp, 83 sp, and 39 cp with 1 sp and cp left over that can go whoever)

When the party arrived at wherever an hour away was, and found themselves inside a house made of glass (magic) he took a seat on whatever passed for a chair or something he could lie down on, and allowed himself to relax. A heavy sigh wracking his old body. Our foes do seem to like to try their best to turn me into Tortle soup, yes. And if Claire has no objections, I shall accept. But about earlier.... getting used to killing is something you must get used to if you wish to bring change in the world. the Tortle said, matter-of-factly. Closing his eyes before proceeding.
There are other ways, of course. Sometimes diplomacy will work. Sometimes beaurocracy. But both of those are slow, and prone to ... issues. But every single thing in the world wants something from you. And in many cases they will be willing to kill you to get it. Peace and pacifism is fine and all, but you must be willing to fight and to kill if it comes to it. You never have to enjoy or revel in it, but the more 'used to' it you get, the better. Lest you find yourself face down on the floor because someone else didn't hesitate.
I may sound dreary and negative, but it's better to .. in my opinion, be ready for the worst, and hope for the best, than expect the best, and be unprepared. Whether this was wise advice, a personal motto, or opinion, or just the ramblings of an old man was up to interpretation
Regardless, we should return for our reward in the morning. For now.... I shall inspect this rod. And Narz... if truly we still have the other one, you should look into yours.... when you find time to pry your eyes away from those dusty tomes.
And with that, Torsus began inspecting his rod, caressing his hands along the length of it to feel for any abnormalities or engravings of some sort. Inspecting the tip, and rubbing along its smooth surface. Reaching out mentally to his rod, to see if it would perk up or respond, all the while calling back on his personal knowledge of the arcane, with some help from beyond.
