Thistle smiles and says, "I can help with the delivery, but I'll get Barthen first." He turns around and heads into a back room behind the counter. "Barthen! Customers!" you can hear him yell. He comes back out and says, "Show me the delivery and we'll start unloading it."

Kierro heads outside with Thistle to unload the wagon. As you wait, an older human man with kindly eyes and salt-and-pepper hair steps out from the back room. "I'm Elmar Barthen," he says. "How can I help you?"
Torwen will say to Elmar: "Pleased to meet you Mr. Barthen. My friends and I are here to deliver supplies for Gundren Rockseeker. Your hired hand and one of my friends are unloading as we speak. I do have bad news though, it seems as though Gundren and his travel companion Sildar were ambushed on their way here. We found Sildar and he is here in town but Gundren was taken prisoner."
Barthen is nodding along at Torwen's words, smiling until he mentions that Gundren has been captured. "Oh no!" he exclaims. "How terrible! Is Sildar planning to send anyone to rescue Gundren? I was so excited to hear about his discovery of the lost mine. His brothers, Nundro and Tharden, have been camped somewhere outside of town - I assumed they would be joining Gundren when he showed up. Huh, now that I think about it, I haven't seen either one of them in tenday. They should be back any day now to resupply."
He smiles again, and says, "Well, you've made your delivery for Gundren, hold on while I get your pay." He turns and heads back into the back room and returns with a small pouch. "There you go," he says, "10gp each for 4 guards - there's 4 of you, correct?"
Barthen smiles at Kierro, but then his face falls into a frown. "I hope Lord Sildar is here to help with those nasty brutes." He looks around at the party. "You all stay away from the Sleeping Giant - that's where those ruffians like to hang out." He shakes his head and says, "Those Redbrands have been nothing but trouble since they showed up. Threatening businesses unless they pay 'protection' and harassing the fine folk of Phandalin." At that moment, Thistle returns and says cheerfully, "All unloaded, boss!"
Torwen asks Barthen: "We have heard these Redbrands have committed murder in the streets in broad daylight. Is this true? If so why do the authorities do nothing about them?"
Mental note, stay away from the Sleeping Giant, got it, Victor thinks to himself, then looks around at his new friends, what am I kidding, after lunch with Sildar I am sure that is exactly where we will be going.
Barthen looks surprised at Torwen's words. "Murder?!" he exclaims. "I've heard nothing about a murder, though I can't say it surprises me. They came into town and started 'asking' all the business owners to pay 'protection.' When most refused, things started happening. Break-ins, robberies - and Harbin refused to do anything about them. Kept saying they were 'not that much trouble.' Murder, though, that's a whole different thing." He looks at the party pensively. "I need to go see Daran. He'll have some ideas." He nods decisively. "Yes, Daran." He smiles at you and then says, "Good luck to you, and tell Lord Sildar I said hello." He turns to greet another customer as they enter, and says, "I must get back to work. Good day, and thank you again for delivering Gundren's goods." He walks away, deep in discussion with the customer.
The party heads back to the inn. As you enter, you hear various customers talking as you find a table to wait for Sildar. You overhear several conversations, but your attention is caught by a couple of them. A couple of miners sitting together are talking about the Redbrands hassling every business in town, except for the Miner's Exchange. "They don't want to mess with Halia, is my guess," says the gnome miner. There are also several local farmers sitting together and discussing how Sister Garaele returned to town. "She left town, wouldn't tell anyone where she was going, but when she came back, she was wounded and exhausted. Hope the acolytes can help her, since she's really the only healer in Phandalin."
As you wait for Sildar, a harried but still smiling Toblen comes over to you. "Hello! What can I get for you?"
"Afternoon Toblen, can I get a repeat of my order form last night, the food & drink was most excellent, makes me miss my favorite tavern back home." Victor asks.
OOC: How much or what was in the pouch Sildar gave us?
Thistle smiles and says, "I can help with the delivery, but I'll get Barthen first." He turns around and heads into a back room behind the counter. "Barthen! Customers!" you can hear him yell. He comes back out and says, "Show me the delivery and we'll start unloading it."

"Here it is." Kierro says, gesturing to the cart with the supplies on it. He helps unload the supplies if he is able.

"Thank you, sir." Kierro says. "We're planning to meet Sildar after this to discuss our plans."

Faywin is excited to meet with Sildar to see if there is anything we can do to find Gundren.
Barthen looks surprised at Torwen's words. "Murder?!" he exclaims. "I've heard nothing about a murder, though I can't say it surprises me. Torwen turns to the group and asks: "well what say we head back to the inn and talk with Sildar?"
OOC: Does anyone need to buy anything here or at the lionshield before we meet Sildar?
Victor is good for now but is looking forward to getting some more food from the Inn.
Kierro would sell his mace and crossbow + bolts (he never uses them) at the Lionshield Coster, but since it's closed (I think) that can wait.
To the inn then.
Faywin replies to Torwin "Yes, let's go find Sildar. Hopefully he will be at the inn and we can find out if we can help with the hunt for Gundren."

Torwen will say to Toblen: "I'll have an ale and whatever you recommend from the kitchen, Please."
Torwen will ask Victor, Kierro, & Faywin: "What do you think about all these rumors going around? What do you think we should do?"
