Narim nods and then asks, "Have you chosen your school of study yet, Guilliame? I think you'd make an excellent war mage, and I'd be happy to be your sponsor."

[OOC: To find out what Narim means about 'School of Study', see here for the basic 9 Arcane Traditions and here for the War Mage tradition, which is from a different source book than the Player's Handbook. A wizard's Arcane Tradition is chosen when they reach 2nd level. It gives benefits of different types at 2nd, 6th, 10th and 14th and makes certain types of magic easier to learn.]

"I am still thinking but I suspect this is where I will go."

"Good man," says Narim clapping Guilliame on the back. "Most natural fighters who find themselves here at the School are on the king's patronage. Once they have graduated, most of them go off to the army to serve their time and don't come back, for one reason or another."

Then he looks over Guilliame's shoulder and says, "There is Mistress Althea, so I need to go. I will contact my two students as soon as possible and await word from you."

He then heads off to where Guilliame can see Mistress Althea waiting outside the entrance to the library.

OOC Is the Scholar's retreat open? If so have lunch there.

Guilliame leaves the School and heads towards the Scholar's Retreat, which he finds open and fairly busy with a late lunchtime crowd.

He grabs the first table that becomes vacant and considers the bill of fare, which is scrawled in chalk on a blackboard close to the entrance to the kitchens.

Proper meals range from 3 to 6 lions, with a mug of ale as part of the meal. However, Guilliame could probably ask for something cheaper and forego the drink if he wants.

As he considers this, an older woman—who he believes is one of the owner's of the establishment—approaches.

"Hello, and welcome to the Scholar's Retreat, what can I get for you?" she says.

"Good day to you madam. A mug of your finest and a plate of stew, please."

"Certainly, Sir," she says giving him a smile, "The stew today is lamb and comes with two slices of bread and butter. All up that will be 3 lions and would you prefer an ale or a darker beer?"

As she bends to pick up the platters of the people who recently vacated Guilliame's table he notices that the woman is wearing a silver journeyman's medallion from the School of Occult Studies just like his own.

"The dark please. I notice you are a journeyman from the school. What is your specialty if you don't mind me asking."

A little surprised at the abruptness of the question, the woman then says, "I am a transmuter."

She briefly closes her eyes and then opens them and asks, "And yourself? What is your field of study?"

"I am trying to decide but Narim is trying to convince me to be a war mage. I am interested in others experiences."

"Why would you want to do that?" she says, looking concerned. "Do you want to join the army?"

"I don't want to join the army. What types of magic did you consider?"

"I'm an artist," she says, indicating the artworks on the wall. "Always have been and probably always will be. Transmutation just seemed to be the natural choice."

With that, she points the finger of her right hand at the top of the table and starts moving it about in a distinct pattern. As she does so, Guilliame sees an image in a vibrant green colour appear on the table. Then, with another gesture, she starts again, this time adding a brilliant red to what she had already drawn. In the end, Guilliame can see a stylised image of a red flower on the table top.

"Sorry," the woman says when she's finished, "That's not very good. I can normally do a lot better, if I have the time. But the point is that my magic gives me opportunities that a normal artist doesn't have. So, of course, I leapt at the chance to incorporate my magical talent into my artwork."

"That was beautiful. I guess I'll need to work out what I want to do with my life and let that guide me. I certainly don't want to go into the army."

The woman smiles at his compliment and heads off to get his food and drink leaving the magically created drawing still on the table.

Guilliame believes that the magic the woman has done is probably not permanent and is something he could probably do himself, if he put his mind to it [OOC: She used the Prestidigitation cantrip]. However, he is also aware that some skill, other than that of the arcane, would have been required to produce as realistic an image as she made.

Try to reshape the image with a Prestidigitation cantrip.

Guilliame finds he cannot reshape the image or change its original appearance, but he can certainly add elements to it by overlaying his own images  on top of it. 

[OOC: If he does this, what new elements would he like to add to the image? He is aware that these images will last for about a candle (i.e., one hour).]

Draw a pot below the flowers with a watering can pouring water with little splashes coming out of the pot.
