If there are only a few dozen then go through them all. If there are more once one that looks promising in terms of being a good general introduction with a variety of low level spells then pull tha one of the shelf and start going through it carefully.

Although there are specific shelves devoted to Enchantment, it soon becomes clear to Guilliame that there hasn't been much focus on this magical domain here in the school in recent times.

By the time Velma comes to find him for lunch, Guilliame has pulled half a dozen books off the shelf that he thinks might give him a way into understanding the basics.

[OOC: The original selection of spells I gave Guilliame were based on the spells he might have been introduced to through his association with Wamzut. To stay in line with the current rationalisation, I think we might have to assume that Wamzut gave Guilliame a scroll from which he has learned the Charm Person spell from by rote.]

Velma arrives, looking a little damp. "It is still raining outside," she says. "But do not worry, I went to the refectory and have brought back some soup, bread and cheese. We can eat in my office, if you like."

"Excellent. That sounds nice and private."

Velma heads off towards her office and Guilliame—after putting his books down on a nearby study table—follows. As he approaches her office, Guilliame catches the smell of a hearty vegetable soup and his mouth begins to water in response.

However, once inside her office, Velma closes the door to give them the privacy that Guilliame spoke of. She then moves in close and offers him her mouth for a kiss.

Kiss her back (and also her front).  

Guilliame and Velma share a nice romantic moment until the sounds of two people talking in the library remind them that they aren't completely alone. They then sit down at the table and enjoy the lunch that Velma procured while playing footsies under the table.

Eventually, the two have to get back to business and Velma goes back to reshelving books while Guilliame returns to where he left his pile of books. Unfortunately, it seems like he is not the only one interested in this topic today because there is a striking looking young woman seated at the table where he left his collection on books. Most of the books have been spread out in front of her while she is intently perusing the pages of one of them.

The woman looks vaguely familiar to Guilliame, but he can't remember her name.

Go up to her.

"Hello. I see you are interested in enchantment as well. Do you mind if we share these?"

The woman is tall and thin like a Sorian, but has the pale skin of a Stemian; Guilliame thinks it likely she is a halfbreed like himself.

"Oh," she says, looking up at Guilliame. "I did wonder why they were here, I should have realised someone had already laid claim to them."

She then pushes the books she isn't reading in Guilliame's direction and says, "Sorry. Please, don't let me interfere."

As Guilliame gathers up the books, the woman asks, "So, are you a student here? You are older than most of the ones I have seen today."

"Yes, I am still a student. My magick abilities weren't recognised until I was older. My name is Guilliame de Marchant. I'm sorry, I think I recognise you but I can't think of your name."

"de Marchant..." says the woman. "I know that name. Is your mother's name Naomi? Masterful Mixtures, is that yours?"

"Yes. Naomi runs it but I help out. Are you interested in our stock? I can put in an order for you."

"Perhaps," she says, acting warily. "I would have to have a look at your wares."

Then she adds, "But my apologies. My name is Carmina, Carmina Rochen. My family owns the glass-blowing factory opposite the School's entrance."

"Is there magick involved in glass-blowing or is it all mundane skill?"

Carmina frowns a little and then says, "I really don't see how you could do it without magick. Surely the glass would be too hot to handle with your bare hands."

"So what magick is used? Do you specialise in that area?"

"No," replies Carmina, who then shrugs and adds, "I suppose I could, but father employs people who are far more experienced than I. And besides it is not a nice place to work. Hot and smoky all the time."

"Fair enough. So I take it you are interested in enchantment magick. I spoke to the new master, Master Wallash, this morning. He specialises in enchantment magick. Have you met him?"

"A new master," she replies, sounding surprised. "I did not know this. But then again I haven't visited the School often since I finished..."

She then seems to have a thought and says, "But clearly you are a regular visitor, so perhaps you can confirm a rumour I have heard."

Lowering her voice, she then asks, "Is it true that the gatekeeper can no longer hear people's thoughts?"

"That is what I understand. Someone came to the school and affected several people in different ways. Master Minton lost his permanent ability."

Carmina stares up at Guilliame for a moment and then says, "Someone? You mean someone took his power away? How could that be? Who is this person?"
