With his special Identify pearl and an owl feather in one hand, Guilliame takes up the dagger in his other hand and begins the ritual.

Ten minutes later, despite the interference of the iron of the blade, Guilliame begins to draw something from it.

From the owner's continual handling of the knife's grip, Guilliame confirms that it belongs to Koshaba Jacoub and that this was his everyday work knife...

He also becomes aware that there is violence in the recent history of the knife and that the blood upon the blade is not that of the owner, but whose that blood might be is just out of his reach...

Guilliame emerges from he bedroom, which adjoins the kitchen, to find Granny Naomi and a Stemian neighbour sitting and chatting at the kitchen table.

"Good morning, Guilliame," says Muriel. "I have just been hearing about your working for the Watch. Do you have any exciting stories to tell?"

"There are a lot of drunken yobbos that hang out around the stockyards, I can tell you that for nothing. Anything else costs extra."

Neighbour Muriel looks askance at Guilliame for a moment but then joins in when Granny starts laughing at Guilliame's joke.

"Would you like a cup of char, Guilliame?" says Granny getting to her feet.

However, before Guilliame can answer, the front door of the shop opens and a male voice calls out "Hello? Is anyone in?"

The voice has the sound of authority.

"Hello. Welcome to our humble shop."

Guilliame walks from the kitchen up the corridor to the shop and sees that it is a member of the watch standing in the entrance; it is the watchman he saw guarding the entrance to the Sheriff's Office earlier this morning.

In response to Guilliame's welcome, the Watchman sketches a brief salute and says in Stemian, "We meet again, Magus de Marchant. I have been sent by the sheriff. He told me to apologise for not being available this morning and he told me to tell you that he will be available after lunch at about the eighth candle of the day."

Having delivered his message, Watchman Rudd's eyes begin looking around the wares on display in the shop while he continues to talk. "I have passed your shop many times on patrol," he says, "and I always wondered what it might sell. Do you purely sell to the magi, or do common people come into your shop as well?"

"We have many health giving potions here appropriate for every situation. Do you have any aches or pains or performance issues?"

"Performance issues!" he says, looking shocked. "No, no, everything is fine in that department. I assure you." He then starts rubbing his right thigh and adds, "I do have a pulled muscle though. Can you help with that?"

[OOC: If you want to advise him, make a Wisdom(Medicine) check, however, you may add your Proficiency Bonus because you are proficient with Herbalism Kit and the problem is specifically to do with herbal cures. This gives Guilliame a bonus of +3 against a DC of 10.]

The above roll is a success, so Guilliame gains some experience.

Clearly Guilliame's knowledge of the shop's wares are more to do with the application in magic. Granny is the one who normally deals with matters to do with health. Guilliame could ask her.]

"Actually muscle strains aren't my specialty. I deal more in turning things into frogs. Let me consult our resident export. Grannie, what would you recommend for a dodgy hammy."

"What was that, Guilliame?" says Granny from the kitchen. Then she adds, "Hang on. I am coming."

The handsman continues to look at the wares on display as Granny makes her way up the short corridor from the kitchen.

"Hello there," she says as she enters the shop. "I know you." she says, once she sees the customer. "You are Dora Rudd's boy. How is she?"

The handsman smiles and says, "Well. And you?"

Granny shrugs and says, "Well enough. Now what can I do for you?"

After listening to the handsman once more explains about his leg, Granny makes her way towards where pots of her homemade salve are available for sale. 

"You could try this for the pain," she says, picking up one of the pots. "rub it into the skin where it hurts and put a wrapping on the area under your clothes to keep it warm. Ideally, you would want to keep off that leg, but if that is not possible, put the salve on before you start work and before you go to sleep."

Nodding in understanding, the handsman accepts the pot of salve when Granny hands across the pot. He then asks, "And how much will this cost me?"

Before answering, Granny turns and looks at Guilliame.

[OOC: Guilliame would know that this pot of salve would normally cost 4 lions, but clearly Granny is wondering if they should give it to the handsman for free. I will leave it up to you as whether Guilliame wants to say otherwise.]

"How about a Hand discount - 2 Lions. That's half-price."

"Sure," replies Watchman Rudd, who then pulls out a small purse and hands over two of the large copper pieces to Granny. [OOC: Which I have added to the shop's funds listed on Guilliame's character sheet in the 'Other Possession' section.]

"I will give it a try," he then says, "and, if it works, I will tell the others in my hand. Maybe you will get some more business come your way."

Tucking the purse and the pot of salve away, he then says, "Anyway, I have delivered the sheriff's message, so I had best get back to my rounds."

With that, he sketches Guilliame another quick salute and prepares to leave the shop.

[OOC: I will stop here in case you want Guilliame to interact with Watchman Rudd some more. Otherwise, let me know what you want Guilliame to do next. Granny's visitor is still in the kitchen, but he and Granny can talk to each other while they are both in the shop.]

"I am free till the eighth candle. Is there anything you would like me to do?"

Granny thinks for a moment and then says, "Sam is coming this afternoon and he will be wanting things to do. But you could go to the Fini's shop and get some more paper."

"I'll have to make sure it's safe. I think they have nailed it shut. But I'll have a look."
