Once again I have changed the position of markers on the map of the street to show the approximate position in game squares of all the characters. Not sure why the bottom part of the map isn't showing, but it might no longer be relevant.

Having moved to the doorway, Guilliame turns to look at the couple and sees that they have moved further into the house. He then tells Basilly to go and get help after having taken the dagger from him.

Instead of running for help, Basilly says, "Wait. I think we've been duped." He then moves to where the fallen torch is and gestures at it. The flame on the torch dies abruptly and he bends and picks it up. "I thought it might have been an illusion, but it wasn't; the flame was real, but the creature was not."

He then begins to look up and down the street.

[OOC: It is now technically Guilliame's turn again, but I'm happy to come out of combat at this point.]

To Bassily "Why don't you go and see Lomani and come back."

To the woman "Do you mind if I stay here. I'm worried they will come back."

Basilly says, "Yes, okay, I think I should. I will be back soon." He hurries off.

"Yes, please," says the woman. "And, thank you so much for helping. I don't know what would have happened to poor Mal here if you hadn't."

The man lift his bloodied head and says, "Yes, thank you..."

Then, after peering at Guilliame for a moment, he adds, "I know you, don't I. Your Naomi's grandson, aren't you?"

"Yes, that's right. Guilliame is my name. We should check to make sure all the doors and windows are as secure as possible. Can you check them all quickly, please. I'll keep an eye on the front."

Now that he can see them properly, Guilliame can see that the couple are quite elderly.

The woman moves away to the back of the shop in response to Guilliame's suggestion about securing the house.

"Do you think they will come back?" the man asks, looking anxious. And then he adds, "I never thought they'd go this far."

"I don't know but I think it is safest to assume they will. I just hope that Seeker Lomani will be able to sort out things within the church. That is the only way these sort of attacks will stop."

Guilliame hears a noise outside and takes a look out into the street. There are a couple of people a little further down the street standing outside the open door of one of the houses. One of them is carrying a lantern and in the light from the lantern, Guilliame can see that they are both men, and that one is carrying a club. The man with the lantern then points in Guilliame's direction and shouts, "What's going on down there?"

"Some citizens were attacked here only a couple of minutes ago. Everything seems OK now."

Do a See the arcane once they are in range.

[OOC: I'm roleplaying tonight, so I probably won't get a move done tonight.]

The man with the lantern closes the door of the building they are outside of and then the two of them head down the street in Guilliame's direction.

As they approach, Guilliame sees that the man with the lantern is dressed in leather armour with some sort of crest on the left breast and has a short sword in a scabbard at his side while the man with the club is dressed in more normal clothes that also sport the same crest.

Once the two get close enough, Guilliame closes his eyes and opens them with his mage sight active. Guilliame is a little surprised to see that the man in the armour has an aura of magic around his head.

"Good evening. I see you are armed. Are you guards?"

The man holding the lantern says, "My name is Tambor. I am the Tax Warden for the Scholars District and am allowed to carry arms. I heard a ruckus in the streets and have come to investigate."

At this Guilliame checks the crest emblazoned on the man's chest and sees the Engelian lion above the symbol of a coin.

"And who might you be?" asks the man with an imperious tone.

"My name is Guilliame de Marchant. The man and woman in the house here were attacked by a group of ruffians. I was walking by with Apprentice Seeker Basilly Cullen and we chased them off. The man has been injured. The ruffians tried to set fire to the house. Basilly has gone to the church to bring Seeker Lomani here to see what needs doing."

"Is that right, Master Grane?" says Tambor, looking past Guilliame.

Guilliame turns to see Master Grane and his wife nod in agreement.

"Well then," says Tambor. "That was a very civic-minded thing you and your colleague have done, Mister de Marchant. What I don't understand is why your colleague—this apprentice Seeker—has gone to the Temple. Why did he not approach the town guards? There is a guard station just a couple of blocks away."

"Both temple guards and the local guards came. The temple guards said they would look after the situation. So having someone senior from the church informed seemed like a good idea to Bassily."

"So, the local guards came and went away," Tambor says sounding concerned. "That sounds strange."

He then turns to his companion and says, "Alan, go and get the guard, I want to have words with them." In response, the man dutifully heads off in the direction of the guard station.

Tambor then steps up to the door so he can talk with those inside and asks, "Do you have any idea why they attacked you, Master Grane? Was it a robbery, do you think?"

The man and the woman look at each other for a moment and then the man says, "We have no idea, Master Tambor. It was completely unexpected."

"What about you, Master de Guilliame... I know that name. Are you from around here?"

"I was eating out and passed here on my way home. I live a couple of blocks away (I think)"

Tambor says, "Well then. Thank you. Not many people would have done the same, and in theses trying times we need more people like yourself."

He then goes to move past Guilliame and into the house to see to the owners.

[OOC: I will assume you allow this, but let me know if you don't and we can go back to here. Otherwise, we can move on to when the guards turn up, if they do.]

Let them go past but keep an ear out to what is being said if it can be done without being too obvious.

Tambor enters and starts talking with the Granes. Meanwhile, Guilliame keeps an eye out in the street outside.
