[OOC: For the record, yes, the Sleep spell works on most creatures. However, I would like Guilliame to make an Arcana roll against a DC of 10 to see if he knows the answer to this question; a chance for experience, maybe.]

If there is time to go home and come back again then say to Velma that I would like to bring Naomi to dinner if that is alright. If that is OK then head home.

[OOC: Guilliame's breakthrough came early in the afternoon, so there is easily enough time for Guilliame to go home and get back with Naomi before Velma would normally finish work.]

Velma is happy with the idea of meeting up with Guilliame and his grandmother after work to go out for dinner, so Guilliame heads off home where he meets up with Granny Naomi who is happy to inform him that it has been a successful day for the shop.

"We have sold fifteen Constantines and a couple of Lions worth of stock today," she says, obviously pleased. "And there was someone making enquiries about getting an item identified, though they didn't have it with them... How was your day? Did you pay the tax bill?"

"I paid the bill and I have a new job. I'm helping the guards out in the evening."

[OOC: I have updated the number of coins in the shop on Guilliame's character sheet to represent today's increased activity and other activity over the last few days. You can find this in the 'Other Possession' part of the 'Equipment' tab.]

"What?" exclaims Granny Naomi in a disbelieving tone. "I thought you were trying to get away from that sort of life, what with you becoming a wizard and all."

"I am doing my bit for the city, and getting in the good books with the taxman. I have been told that it will be mainly deskwork but I'll see what actually is involved as it happens I suspect."

Granny calms down a little after hearing what Guilliame says.

"So, how much work are you expected to do? And when?" she asks, and then adds with a precautionary tone, "I would not let it interfere with your studies. That is where the real money is going to come from... Look at Master Assam, or even the masters at the school."

"I will stay in the office to let the real hands go out and deal with the problems. 25 lions for a 4 hour shift, tax free. I might even get a chance to do some study if I can take my spell books with me. And I have permission to take my broadsword around, so hopefully that will discourage a few rapscallions from mischief." 

"Well," says Granny Naomi. "You make sure that is all you do... When do you start?"

"Tomorrow evening. I thought we could go out to dinner with Velma tonight. Are you up for it?"

Granny Naomi's eyes light up and she says, "I would not miss it for the world. Where are we going to go?"

"I thought the Scholar's retreat. I don't know why but I have a feeling I might not get bashed up tonight, but anything is possible of course."

"Sounds good," says Granny. "Are we going to meet Velma there? ... I do not even know where she lives."

"The family lives on the north island. Velma lives with her mother who is not that well."

[OOC: Technically correct, but not very informative. The whole of the Scholar's Ward is on the northern island. Velma and her mother live in a lower class area at the western end of the northern island. If you look at the sector map on the World Anvil site, they live at the western end of the residential area immediately to the west of the section classed as the Scholar's Ward, which is where Guilliame's house is.

I will presume Guilliame tells Granny Naomi the above.]

"I suppose that means you do not know," says Granny Naomi in response to Guilliame's single word answer.

She shrugs then and brings up another subject. "Speaking of Master Assam," she begins, "his daughter came in today and asked whether you had destroyed that strange stone yet... I told her that you were still researching it. Should I have said that? It is still in that pouch in the shop's coin box, isn't it?"

"Yes. But I think perhaps I'll just tell her it is destroyed. I can't imagine she was asking that for no reason."
