Yeah, I'm not sure what the purpose of going into room D is, and I suspect it may be due to confusing signals from myself.
Just to clarify once more, there is an escape from the caves lying tantalisingly close, in room B, just beyond the door. There are two invisible duergar in A who are not attempting to prevent passage into the room, although they are only currently aware of three travellers, not nine and a prisoner. Two invisible duergar approached from room D but then went back in there. They are either still in there invisible, or they left through the small tunnel (that Pensive once flew through and encountered the horrible spider creature). Other than the small spider tunnel, room D is a dead end. It seems that the duergar here are trying to 'raise the alarm', but they may not be aware that there are few duergar/derro left alive in the caves. Two other creatures passed by the outer door soon after the group entered, but that was just a derro and a two-headed quaggoth patrolling the halls in search of the party, and it seems that they chased after Useless, who is no longer with the party.
I'm not discouraging anyone from going anywhere, I just wasn't clear on the purpose of entering room D and effectively splitting the party. If there is a legit purpose, then let me know.

I think that the group Kaylyn is in has no idea what the other 3 are doing so we are attempting to hide and get out of the way until the scouts return. Room D seems like our best bet as we don't want to be in the hallway anymore.
(I believe each of us in the forward group tried to contact others. As soon as you are close enough for spores - at the moment specifically Pax is telling about all later discoveries.)
Cool. Well it's about close enough, so let's say everyone can pass messages to each other through telepathy, and you can all communicate your intentions to each other.
Based on the group knowledge, does anyone still want/need to enter room D?

The smell of rot is strong in this room, coming from a large depression at the center, where dozens of fungi of many species grow. A barrel-shaped copper tank sits at the edge of the pit. Attached to the tank is a tall copper pipe that arcs over the pit, as well as a hand-cranked pump. Crates line one wall.
There doesn't appear to be anyone in the room, and no sound of creatures moving can be perceived.

One of the crates gets knocked off the pile and a collection of edible fungi spill out. Despite all Kastix's blustering and blundering, there doesn't seem to be any sign of anyone else present. The two invisible creatures seem to have left the cave, most likely through the small tunnel.

(May be we can just simply move through the door now and get to the docks inside the city? If nobody objects.
If so, Sekkar would take care of concealing our prisoner (placing him in the sack, for example) - parading any duergar on a leash inside the city wall would be unwise. Thus, if Pax can take care of Gorlak, Sekkar will pick up again the egg and we can go straight to the dragon lair.)
The stragglers make their way into the alchemist's cave (which it clearly is, considering the paraphernalia spread throughout) with their prisoner in tow. The invisible duergar do nothing to prevent their passage, apparently recognising when they are outnumbered and outclassed, although the communication continues between them in Dwarvish (Sekkar has passed into the far room by then and so does not hear to translate). A ladder rises from the center of the cave into a hole in the ceiling, which is the beginning of a narrow tunnel that weaves through the rock. Gorlak seems to lose his glaring bravado when he realises Sekkar means to conceal his face, having apparently been confident that the attention the group drew would be sufficient to bring the Stone Guard down upon the surfacers. Two sacks are enough to completely cover the duergar, and tying them in the middle obscures him from view but prevents him from moving on his own. As the group prepare to ascend, the door behind them closes and locks.
Getting Gorlak up the ladder and through the tunnel while bound, gagged and hooded is no easy feat, but after an eternity of pushing and pulling, the group emerge from a steel grate at the waterline in the Docks district. Zeno, Sekkar and Rhayna (I think) recognise this as the exact location where they witnessed the murder of the lone duergar on the docks several days previous, a duergar who by now everyone suspects was Hemeth, their intended escort out of the Underdark. With luck, the first to notice the group emerge into the smoky, red glow of the city are a pair of kavalrachni, or spider-mounted duergar. Their challenge is met with the flash of dragon badges and a request for escort through the city to the headquarters of the Keepers of the Flame. Sekkar lugs the egg, while Kaylyn and Zeno help Pax lift and carry Gorlak. Despite the presence of other 'outsiders' in the Docks district, the group still attract significant attention from the onlookers, particularly as they cross into the duergar-only districts of the city. Soon the group arrive near the entrance to the dragon's lair, and are spotted by a number of dwarven dragon-priests who stand guard near the entrance and call out to alert their commanders.
(Was any attempt made to conceal the egg?)

Pax seems to wilt someone under the attention of the city folk, a mixture of emotions stirring within her. Having been a slave here and now roaming freely, and seeing nothing but what she previously would have labeled 'evil to be destroyed', she has a strange reaction to the children, and other signs of just normal city life. Are these creatures all deserving of a quick death, or are some of them just living their lives? Silent, and brooding, a deep furrow grows on her face when they approach the dragon den. Now she's into it, she's unsure if she'll be able to trust herself and her reactions. She focus' on Gorlak and on following the lead of the others.

If there is anything to throw above the egg to cover it, Sekkat would do it (if only for the safety reasons - to many sharp objects on the streets, one has to be careful). Lizardman was used to staring even in these tunnels, where to much attention to someone could cost you your life, so he ignored it all. Sekkar was not going to admit it even to himself, but meeting with the real dragon felt intriguing, to say the least. Not too exciting, though, to stop making notes about guards, potential exits and other strategic information.
The myconids by now feel responsible for the egg, and they stay close to it.
