The door opens into a large and irregularly-shaped crumbling chamber. Crudely executed symbols and glyphs, scribed in bright green dye, decorate the walls. A large pit in the center shows evidence of a recent fire. A metallic cage in the middle of the southern wall contains a gaping hole and stands empty. A small wooden bench draped with green cloth is next to the cage, and several small objects rest on it. A bedroll lies near the wooden bench, and the sound of whimpering comes from inside it.

How does a red dragon blow out the candles on its birthday cake?
Royan replies to Kastix' message. "I can hear crying of some kind, but the room is strange. There is a cage here and it looks like something has broken out, or been freed. I am going to wait for everyone before we check it out. I don't know if the crying is coming from what was in the cage, or somebody scared by what got out."Royan quietly closes the door and gathers the others to explain the situation.
If it’s safe, Rhayna will inspect the symbols and glyphs. (Check?)

Kaylyn suddenly covers her mouth as she realizes she spoke out loud as she sees a bedroll lies near the wooden bench, and the sound of whimpering comes from inside it.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Royan walks over quickly to stand near the bedroll. He makes the assumption that it is someone scared of what they might have seen. "Come out quickly. We will not harm you. The thing is gone now." He tries to say this in as reassuring a voice as he can.
Ireniana walks over to the bedroll, her right hand on her sword hilt while her left hand opens it. "We are companions here and we won't harm you if you don't harm us."

I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
As Rhayna inspects the symbols painted on the wall, she can tell they are relatively recent (within the last several months), and painted by an unskilled hand. She also notices a paintbrush and some containers of green dye on the small bench. Kaylyn looks closer at the bench and notices there are four tiny jade figurines of dragons. It seems that the bench serves as a sort of tiny altar.
The crying figure wrapped in the bedroll doesn’t respond to the entry of the party or to Kaylyn’s verbal reading of the words. However, it does stop crying as the ‘mouse’ runs past, and a small clawed hand emerges from the blankets and tries to grab the mouse – and you are sure you hear the voice squeak the Draconic word for “dinner!”.
As Royan approaches and invites the figure to come out, a small reptilian head pokes out of the bedroll, and stares wide-eyed at Royan. It quivers in fear even though Royan assures he means it no harm. When he states that the ‘thing is gone’, the figure bursts into a fit of tears. Casting off its bedroll completely as it flings itself prostrate to the floor, you can see now that the distraught howling figure is a kobold. Through its bawling you hear it say:
It’s gone, yes it’s gone. Calcryx is gone and it’s all Meepo’s fault.
As Ireniana continues to reassure the kobold, it starts to calm down a little, although the sobbing continues.
"Small or sick? The 'dragon' was being held by kobolds first. To quite honest, i doubt it really a dragon at all,"Kastix whispered, making sure the kobold shouldn't be able to hear, "However it is something goblins wanted and kobold want back. Maybe we can help stir the pot,"

Rhayna will stay away from the Kobold, and just quietly observe. She is not the comforting type, so she lets the others speak with the poor fellow. She checks the symbols on the wall and tries to determine if Meepo is the "artist". She cringes at the poor penmanship, though she does blame the Kobold. Perhaps, if the party is able to get back to this room, she may be able him to do a better job.

"Meepo, what was Calcryx? How did it get out? Maybe it's still nearby." Royan sits on his haunches, just out of reach of the kobold.
The kobold gradually starts to pull itself together enough to answer Royan's questions. Between racking sobs it says:
Calcryx ... our dragon ... we lost it ... the wretched goblins ... stole Calcryx ... the clan's dragon.
