(OOC: Indeed they do ... but not until 2nd level. Mwa ha haaa!)

Rhayna looks up to the ceiling. "Did anyone hear a weird laugh? Ohh... never mind". Rhayna takes out a small knife from her backpack, and pokes the reddish liquid with it, trying to determine what it could be. She gives herself Guidance while investigating. (Investigation/Perception: 10)

Rhayna: Despite your best deductions and guesses, you are unable to determine the properties of the liquid (if any), other than it is likely to be magic and probably something associated with the inscription, which refers to fire.

Rhayna touches the liquid that's at the tip of her small knife. If it is safe to touch. She will touch the liquid in the fountain and ritual cast Identify on the reddish liquid.

(OOC: Ritual cast will take 11 minutes. I'll let everyone else declare what they intend their characters to do for the next 11 minutes, then post the results of the Identify spell)

While Rhayna is casting her spell, Royan is going to check out the next door. He is not going to open it, but going to check for traps, noises, anything unusual.

He is also going to check the corridor up to the second set of doors for anything out of place that may be a trap.

When he finishes, a realisation comes to him. If the tracks are returning this way, why don't we just follow the tracks? But then there is that strange door we would have to go through. And the missing set of tracks.

Kastix will light a torch with Prestidigitation, go to the corridor of doors and one by one, open the door enough to throw the torch in to try and get a reaction, if there's no reaction, go in to investigate and pick up the torch.

Ireniana will follow the tracks with her swords out in the open. "We should follow the tracks first."

Royan listens at the west door, but hears nothing at all, so decides to proceed up the corridor while waiting for Rhayna to complete her prayer at the fountain. He is joined by Kastix and Ireniana who follow along. As Royan passes the doors on his left and right, he recognises that they are small cells, but as the doors are only slightly ajar, he passes by them. Just ahead of him he sees a room similar to the one they left, with a dry draconic-carved fountain in the north wall. What is immediately apparent to him however, is that there is a pit trap directly inside the room - it is easy to see as the trap-door has been jammed open with iron spikes. He also notices that there is another such trap - similarly disarmed - inside the room to the left.
As Kastix is following behind Royan, he takes a little more effort to look inside each cell. The first two (one of the left and one on the right) seem to have an unusual amount of filth, hair and excrement on the floor, and they smell putrid. Kastix' first impression is that they are rats' nests, but they appear to have been abandoned. A little nervous at the prospect of encountering more giant rats, he quickly checks the next door on the right, finding another nest, and then the door on the left. However no sooner does he poke his head into this fourth room than he indeed disturbs a huge rodent, which expresses its displeasure by attacking him. What further distresses Kastix is that he failed to notice that the cell opposite was in fact also inhabited by a giant rat, which also emerges to greet him, with teeth bared. Another rat also emerges from the third door on the left, and lunges at Royan.

COMBAT! Roll for Initiative and declare your actions. I've placed you in the map, along with Rats #1, #2, #3. 
Ireniana: I put you behind Kastix, but you are normally in front of him. If you prefer to be between Kastix and Royan you can, although it shouldn't matter too much at this point.
Kaylyn: Since I didn't give you a chance to specify your location, you can be in the corridor too if you wish, but will be 4th in line.

She is going to move 30 feet with her weapons out.

Rhayna initiative: 5. Rhayna will not break her meditation unless threatened.

Royan Initiative: 23 AC 20

Royan yells at Kastix. "Move back toward the fountain." Royan then tries to move back to stand in the middle of the corridor between the first and second sets of doors. (Between where Kastix and Ireniana currently stand). Whether or not he gets there, Royan lunges at Rat#1 with his longsword.

Initiative 22

Kaylyn watches as Rhayna settles into her spell.  Choosing to stay back in the room with her she positions herself between the corridor and the closed door ready to protect her as the others explore the hallway.

When the others start fighting the rats she draws upon her Eldritch energy ready to release it upon the first day that come into view.

Attack: 15 Damage: 8

If about to be hit, kastix will use his reaction to cast shield.

On his turn, Kastix will disengage and move back to the fountain. While muttering some curses. 

Ooc: as Canadian, having thanksgiving dinner today so may be a bit slow respond

ROUND 1 (looks like a quick fight)

Watching from down the corridor, Kaylyn observes Kastix check the second door on the right, then turn to check the door opposite, only to see a giant rat emerge from the right-side door. She launches a bolt of eldritch energy at the huge rodent and it keels over instantly with a smoking hole in its chest.

Barely aware of what just happened behind him, Kastix's heart leaps as a giant rat lunges at him, but he reflexively throws his hands out in an abjuration spell and the rat's face slams against the invisible shield. At the same moment another rat emerges from the next door up the corridor and attempts to lunge at Royan, but its feet scrabble on the loose debris inside the door and its teeth snap harmlessly far short of Royan's leg.

Seeing and hearing Kastix cast his protective spell, Ireniana rushes beside him, cocking her crossbow. She swings it around beside Kastix and with barely time to aim she releases the bolt and catches the rat in its haunches. It squeals in agony.

Lucky that he avoided the rat's attack, Royan slices down with his longsword and severs the rat's shoulder, and it flops down lifeless to the floor.

Having avoided certain death, Kastix backs out of the doorway and back down the corridor to give Ireniana the space she needs to finish the rodent off.

Rhayna sits in front of the fountain concentrating on petitioning Selune for knowledge, unaware of the commotion happening further up the corridor.

Rat #1 still has a couple of hit points, but Royan and Ireniana are both in melee range. I'll just do a quick attack roll to see who finishes it off.
Ireniana: Attack: 7 
That'll do it. All rats dead

Drawing her dagger, Ireniana leaps into the room and stabs the injured rat through its brain.

Further searching inside the fetid rat holes reveals a collection of silver and gold coins, and some small gems (added to loot tally)

"At least they came from the front rather than surround us or from behind," Kastix stated as he uses fire bolt to burn the bodies, mostly anger at close call, "Where were you Meepo by the way?"

OOC: Kastix good at skill checks, i think good at attacking when given chance but can not take a hit at all. 

(OOC: Yeah, I was sure you wouldn't get to 2nd level without dropping to the floor at least once, but so far so good)

By the time the others clean up their mess and dig around for the coinage, Rhayna has finished her spell. The fluid in the basin is equivalent to a Potion of Fire Breath. There is sufficient volume of liquid for two doses.

Kaylyn relaxes as the remaining rats are quickly taken care of.  She waits in the first room with Rhayna until she completes her spell.

“Interesting... What do you know? This liquid here is Fire Breath. Does anyone has a container to hold this?” Rhayna is happy that for once she was able to put her skills to good use.
