"Well, Dizzik, despite the circumstances, a pleasure to make your acquaintance. You still seem a bit lost, so all we can go on now is a camp we spotted nearby, let's go there first."
With a nod to the others, he starts off in the direction of the camp, keeping a ways ahead of the group and doing his best to keep a low profile as he moves forward.
Mechanics:
I'll stay about 60 feet ahead of the group as we move forward.
At a glance the camp is as Hoot saw it. It's going to take a deeper investigation to get more details. You do notice however that there is no blood, but the ground between the fires has been blighted like the grass last night.
Damaia bends over to get a closer look at the grass. "Interesting. Either the big bad bird spat on the grass here or someone's vines bled." She stands up straight and looks at the lack of bodies. "I swear to god, If I have to deal with a bunch of vine zombies later, I am going to punch someone."
"You signed up for the same job as we did, Damaia. So please make sure to send your punches in the direction of the vine zombies, if we should happen across them." Triscyne says cheerfully as he makes his own way through the camp, looking for any clues. Any sign of tracks leading out of the camp would be best, seeing as how there are no signs of bodies within.

You notice many tracks, most likely from the bustling of setting up camp. Damaia and Triscyne will notice there is only one set that leaves the general area. Those of Dizzik running for the circle.
Triscyne:
Just as your about to give up, you notice a faint making in the ground, you dismissed it among the tracks at first, but there is a depression pattern, like that of a coiling worm, in the blighted earth. (You'll be able to tell the others, but I like to give my players a chance to explain things in character.
Frustrated by the lack of any clues Triscyne makes his way back to the group, but pauses as he passes by the blighted earth."What in the heavens..." he mumbles, then crouches down at the edge."Damaia, Kodiak, look at this." he says, waving them over, "Do you see the depression in the ground here? Like something burrowed through, underground."
"Either that or something big sat here, coiled up like a snake." Tri says, trying to make sense of what he's seeing. It definitely didn't look like an impression left by a bird, even a very big one.

Damaia looks at it and says, "Okay that' definitely not something expected to be there." She will grab a stick and poke the depression. "Anyone want to dig over there to see if something's underground?"

Duncan is impatient at the lack of action, but understands that some people do things he can't, and that those skills can be useful. He's simply patrolling the camp keeping an eye out for anything unusual.
Duncan doesn't see anything suspicious, the forest around is still rather lively. Upon further investigation it does look like something coiled around then went underground, but it would have had to be before the footprints were made. Damaia:
You see a deeper depression at the end of the coil, where you assume the creature went beneath the earth... or came out. You do see a single oily black pinion feather buried in the dirt there.
Being cautious, Damaia uses Mage Hand to pick up the feather. She calls the others over and shows them the deeper indent. "You don't think whatever it was took the bodies underground do you?"

Dimble comes over and looks (investigation, 18) "Based on how the vines were trying to squeeze our new friend, I wouldn't be surprised if the vines dragged them underground"
"Vines don't live underground, silly boy. They need the sun! Big Bird probably used them to secure his prey, then something big landed here and took them away. Alls well that ends well! Shall we get on? I am so looking forward to seeing those pines!"
"These do not seem to be natural vines, so I would not expect them to behave naturally. My guess would be that the vines and the bird are somehow connected. Maybe one entity or maybe they are working together. Either way, as we move we should be looking out for more signs like these. We should also look for more places where we can gather the stones. They seem to be able to ward off the vines."

Any time a bird flitters Dizzik jumps a little. "I don't know what else to tell you. I was falling asleep when everything happened."
