[[ Re dinner: No problem! I did post a thing in these forums a while back saying I'd be around and we should catch up. Guessing you missed it!

[[Of course... Not that I'd stop you trading information, just that I would need to know at which point the two universes diverge ;-)]]
Brand peruses the book for several minutes. It is written in the Sorian language and is by one of the early settlers, who apparently became friendly with the Stemians who lived in the region of Galth. The book describes in some depth the everyday rituals practiced by the local shaman of the village and contains many references to some sort of nature spirit called Liluri of the Sacred River.
"Is that you, Master Brand?" says Helas, the book store owner, from the back of the shop.

"Is that you, Master Brand?" says Helas, the book store owner, from the back of the shop.
Brand calls out, "It is indeed, Master Helas. I took the opportunity to browse your wares, I hope you don't mind? This is an interesting work, can you tell me much about it?" he says, as he heads slowly and carefully toward the direction of the voice.
Helas emerges from a back room with a book in his hand as Brand reaches the shop's counter. He places it on the counter and Brand sees it has an embossed title on it that is all curls and flourishes, not the square and angular cunic forms of Sorendenese.
"This is the book on latent sorcery that I was telling you about," says Helas, carefully rotating it for Brand to see. "I looked through it last night again, and I think you will find it very interesting."

Brand nods, "Thanks you." He looks at the new book hungrily, "But before I get too engrossed, This is an interesting work, can you tell me much about it?" he says, holding out the book he has found.
Helas takes the book and looks at it briefly and hands it back. "I have read it, but a long time ago... Not bad if you're interested in the history of that region and Stemian rituals, I suppose, but that's not true magick—not sorcery."

Then he opens the first couple of pages of the book on the counter and says, "I found this book to be very interesting... No use to me unfortunately, but fascinating nevertheless."
Much to Brand's disappointment, the curled script of the front cover continues on the inside of the book; it is written in Gundian, a language that he doesn't understand.

[[The text of the book is in Gundian, but Brand sees symbols in the book that remind him of the symbols Melitta and Dworkin used in some of their arcane activities.]]
Helas thinks for a moment and then says, "There is a way, but... someone in your position would be better off getting the book translated."
"Hmmm...I'm not so sure; I can be an impatient person." he says, smiling.
"I see a lot of reading in my immediate future and, if magic could help, then I could be very interested. To what were you referring?"
"Forget I mentioned it," says Hela. "Considering the current political climate, it would not be wise for one such as you to get involved in such things."
He then says, "Perhaps if you were to tell me what your interest in latent sorcery is, then I could translate a summary out of the book for you."

"Are there, perhaps, spells -- or items -- that might enable me to read it?"
