Elias and Shaul, you are momentarily startled by the sudden loud voice and laughter, but quickly realize it is only an arcane enchantment to scare away would be intruders and steal your resolve. Keric, being closest to the door, you are seized with fright by sudden voice and are currently frightened. You will have disadvantage on ability checks for 1 hour, you can repeat the save every 15 minutes.
OOC: I think everything is happening to Reginald exactly as I suspect he would be.
Moving downstairs you immediately notice that, rather than pitch darkness, there is light coming from sconces along the walls with lit torches.
This torchlit chamber was once a large cellar, but it has since been converted into living quarters. Ten crude beds stand along the south wall, each with a wooden locker at its foot.
A long wooden trestle table ringed by rickety stools dominates the center of the room. Metal cutlery, cups, and dirty plates sit atop the table.
A cookstove is installed near the table, and evidence of recently cooked meals sits in pots atop it. A large ham hangs from a loop of twine near the stove.
A sturdy set of stairs leads to a trapdoor in the ceiling above. There are two wooden doors on the east side of the room.

Reginald of Neverwinter:
Reg moves over and touches one of the pots on the cookstove, trying to estimate how long ago it was used. "This seems more the abode of humanoids wishing to conduct business in secret--not the domain of demons or undead. I wonder what frightened Eustal so," he muses.
Survival to estimate how long ago the cookpot was used--at disadvantage: 16

Captain Blackhand: Unshaken by the ominous voice and glad to see evidence of the living, Beric gingerly descends the stairs. Sniffing the air like a hungry hound, the Pirate's nose leads him quickly to the stove. Greedily reaching for the succulent ham, he lifts the hunk of meat in both hands, taking a large bite out of the side. He holds the roast toward the others, offering to share the prize.

During this conversation, movement can be heard in the southwest corner as two bandits and a scout stand up from behind the row of beds. The bandits draw their scimitars and the scout draws a bow. I will do initiative and a map this afternoon. I have Beric and Reg at the stove, anyone have any changes from their location on the previous map?

Keric Mar:
Keric's face pales as the disembodied voice shakes him to his core. He mind is immediately thrown back to the peels of thunder that split the air on the night he nearly died at sea. That night, Umberlee had saved him and, remembering that, he softly whispers to himself, "Free fall through this midnight, this boundlessness. Come our end, suddenly. Rise." And makes his way into the basement.
He shakes his head at Beric's proferred roast, "Thank you, but no. Reyllnn is right, whatever cooked that is nearby. We must be on guard."
Keric will make his way over to one of the closed doors and attempt to listen for what's on the other side. Perception: 22

OoC - Question, after I checked frightened to see if I get disadvantage on rolls, it says that you have disadvantage on checks and attacks while in line of sight of the source of the fear, and also that I can't .over towards the fear. What is the source of the fear in this case? If it's the door then I don't think Keric can move into the room?

Reyllnn just shakes her head to the Captain. “We h... have a job to take care of. I’ll rest easier when we’ve dealt with whatever cooked that ham.”
