Zydalia doesn't notice it but the you two do. There on a balcony you see the boy that was standing with the taken girl yesterday. He glances around and uses a gutter to slide into an ally looking worried. His face tight with anger it seems as he moves along the alley. He disappears out of sight of you. Around you the crowd is whispering and beginning to disperse you can see the captain of the guard talking to two men one wearing a cloak and with a bow at his side. The other wearing a black suit and speaking quite angrily.
Perception if you want to listen to the heated conversation.
OOC sorry for late reply i was trying to beat alien isolation today.
Zanryn nudges Durmatl, "Why don't you follow and see what that young lad is up to?". He guesses the Lizardfolk will be more comfortable doing that than dealing with authority.
As he approaches the Captain he spots the large Dragonborn from the inn, Bethozus, amongst the thinning crowd.
Zydalia is still frantically scanning the crowd without truly seeing anything.
"We need to find her," she says, more than a hint of concern in her voice, building to anger as she continues speaking. "People can't just take other people away. It's not right."
She looks for the nearest guard before she matches towards them. "What are you doing about this?"
Durmatl gives a curt nod, then darts off towards the alleyway. As he stalks over he starts to realize the potential danger of him getting caught in an alleyway with a young Human boy, but doesn't stop moving. Tracking prey was one of his specialties, after all, even in a stone-walled city as this, and it seemed the boy had more information about what exactly was going on this morning.
With a quick glance around the street to catch anyone watching him, he darts into the alley in pursuit of the boy.
Mechanics:
Stealth to try and remain unnoticed as he follows: 20 Perception to see if anyone is watching or following and (if required) catch sight of the boy: 16 If the boy is out of sight, Survival to track the boy down: 8

You move along the wall staying in the shadows following the boy as he moves putting a cloak on and heading outside of town. He moves through the woods and stops at an abandoned looking home that has been empty it seems for years before heading inside knocking on the door. Three knocks. then two then one before the door opens.

"Ma'am calm down we are using all our resources to find her we have everyone watching the and pressing the local gang for her location. I think they went too far this time and we will be hanging them when we catch the leader." He looks embarrassed as if he looks past you to the crowd watching.

The bow man shrugs. "Ill look around but i usually work on things when they are dead." The other says, "Captain i told you end the problem before it got out of hand. I stayed the order now look. You catch who did this and kill them by hanging. Get it done before i return to the lord and suggest a new captain of the guard for this providence."

Durmatl's heart is pumping with excitement at being out of town again, taking a moment to simply lie down, smelling the grass and earth in a pure moment of ecstasy, before rising once more. He beseeches his grandfather for aid, then slowly makes his way over to the house for a closer look, perhaps a window he can peek through, or simply listening for sounds around the outside.
Stealth to approach unheard/unseen: 11 + 3 from Guidance (good thing I checked my spells before I did this. Not sure why the Manipulated Dice rolls flag went up, didn't change the original rolls, simply added the one after.) Perception to listen/peek through a window: 21 (if you want separate rolls for that, let me know and/or roll for me.)
I noticed the perception roll was changing on my second edit. So, if I recall correctly the total sum for the Stealth was 11 + 2 = 13, and Perception was 14 I believe. I have no idea why that changed, all I did was add the 1d4 roll to Stealth.
Zanryn decides there is no more to be learned from the trio and files what little he has gleaned away for later. He now turns to look for Zydalia, concerned that in her anger she may get into trouble with a local militia that is half a sword's length away from being a lynch mob.

You appear to see nothing in the window it looks like a run down home sheets on furniture. You are indeed quiet though standing on the porch with heightened senses you hear, "Boss we didn't take her hell skimming festival is half the fun look how much food we got to drop off later." Another voice. "If i find out you idiots took her i will lynch you myself. My father is already going to need to provide a patsy. I have a lead to check out no one leaves here till the coast is clear. Willy is in jail but i don't think he'll talk." You hear movement again coming to ward the door now.
Trying to calm Zydalia down, Zanryn whispers to her, "There's something not right here for sure, but I don't think we'll get anything more from the authorities". He scans around for Durmatl but doesn't see him. "Durmatl followed the young lad who was behaving in a shifty fashion. I reckon that might be our best lead - we just need to find him".
Zydalia turns from the guard, still furious. "Of course we won't," she replies, possibly louder than she should be. "They never do." She scans the crowd for Durmatl, catching sight of the dragonborn from last night as she does. She summons Bethozus over, and addresses them both. "Do either of you have any idea where Durmatl might have gone?"
Zanryn shrugs, "He followed the boy down yonder alley", he gestures in the direction of the alley Durmatl had disappeared into after his quarry. "Beyond that, I don't know."

"Shall we follow him down there?" Zydalia asks. "Or might that rouse suspicion?" Her anger is simmering now, rather than boiling, but she is still trying to assess the crowd around her.

Durmatl curses inwardly, realizing this is just a false lead, nothing but a bunch of local thieves. With a grimace he starts slinking away, then suddenly hears the sounds of footsteps approaching from the inside. With another silent curse, he quickly looks for a place to hide.
Zydalia pauses at Zanryn's words. "You make a good point," she returns. "I'm not much of a tracker, either." She sighs. "What an awful thing to happen to this place. On a day like today, as well..."
Zanryn stops suddenly, causing Bethozus to nearly fall over him. “On a day like this”, he repeats slowly. “This is no coincidence. The mysterious black rose, our black dreams, this black deed - I believe they are somehow linked.” He sniffs, “There is death in the air”.
