Sir Darak Darkhall: Saying his goodbyes to his fellow Knight, Darak checks his gear as he prepares to continue the journey to Kir Sabal. He remarks, "Should we have need to return to the Port in the future, I suggest we also visit the Fort."

"Not all those who wander are lost." - J.R.R. Tolkien
Sickle watches the exchange with Sir Darak silently. He had seen his father deal with this sort before, had been in the room as his aide. Knights were a brave lot, and most were good. But then there were ones like these. He nearly snorted at the price of the “charter”. This wasn’t a judicial action...this was a shakedown. But he wouldn’t say that to the Knight. No sense offending him at this point.
He was surprised at Yroc’s sudden change of heart. “Go safely with the Ancients, my friend. Look out for this lot. Be careful of the idol at the bridge, and the hunting grounds of the velociraptors.” He lowered his voice, “And make sure they go carefully near Mezro and don’t go charging into danger with those giants. Take care of yourself.”
Sickle pauses. “This is awkward , but do you think you could leave Kasaaptu’s ring? It may be needed in our quest.”
***
Later, he talked as they traveled toward the home of the Aarakocra. “Two companions, lost not to death but to the weariness of travel. One fallen to the terrors of the hunting dinosaurs. One taken by her own dark dealings. The jungle is truly unforgiving, and I fear we have yet to see the worst.”
Unusually quiet, the group turns to follow Azaka through the jungle on their long, sweaty, bug infested journey. The rest of the day passes uneventfully and camp is made. Part way through dinner warning is yelled as a faint blue mist is spotted slowly easing through the jungle. The group takes to the tree tops. Even Mandra the undead does not risk the strange mist and sits up in a treetop. It passes relatively quickly and before long you're heading to bed. The last thought that pops in your mind is what it must have looked like, that awkward undead climbing up or down a tree, but you'd been too busy scrambling up yourself to notice.
The next morning is welcomed by a steady mist and full rain catchers. You eat a sodden breakfast and continue on your way. The day passes largely uneventfully with spotting a few interesting creatures but none willing to interact with the albeit smarter party, but still large enough. The next night passes uneventfully and you continue your long slow march south. This day is drier, with no rain all day but sweltering heat. But at noon the sky opens up and you're drenched for 30 minutes before the sky lightens and the sun re-emerges and the heat, now with extra humidity, goes back to baking the area. In the evening Sickle, during his quiet alone time, notices another small masked creature watching him. It stands still for a few minutes, and then hops away into the underbrush. This one leaves no gift.
The following day you're forced to stop for yet another tropical storm. That evening you all set your footware to dry for a bit longer than usual to keep foot rot from taking hold. While you camp you hear something approaching and prepare to defend yourself. A man in forest gear steps from the woods, a short blade in his hands. Then another, and another, standing in the darkness. You see what looks like a tribal warrior, shirtless, with a bone through his nose and a spear in his hand standing there. You hear the movement of several others in the darkness near camp. Then, from between them emerges a man wearing a long black cloud. The hood remains up, his face shrouded but he's clearly a half-elf. A creature of some sort moves about his neck under his cloak but it's hard to tell what it is. He regards the camp cooly. "Have you seen this man about?" he says, with no introduction. He holds up a waxed scroll with a picture of a man on it that none of you recognize.
Silas, you hear Mandra's voice in your head, "That is the man the frost giant's had strung up by there camp."
The smell of baked bread fills the camp. Ham, crouched, places his hand on his hilt, but makes no further move. The man sniffs curiously, but otherwise awaits a response. A slim long red serpent tongue flicks up from his hood near his neck, testing the air.

Badger has been quiet the last couple of days. Kasaaptu was the first of his companions that he had met, and he admired her genuine friendship despite her darker nature. Also, he couldn't help feeling a unique bond with Yroc after their mutual fall from the heights of Firefinger. Along with Barty the Halfling, it felt as though those with whom he felt the most kinship were the ones that kept departing. Perhaps for the sake of the party, as well as his own feelings, he should avoid getting too close to anyone. Noticing Ham's discomfort at the questioning, Badger buried his empathy for now, but continued to listen intently to the questioning. He quietly casts Detect Thoughts, targeting the cloaked figure, and prepares to respond if he detects any ill intent.

The man eyes Silas. Badger, he is thinking that there's something suspicious in Silas's eyes and face. He thinks that Silas is trying to deceive him, maybe not lying, but holding back information of some sort. Which is interesting to Badger, because as far as Badger knows, Silas is totally telling the truth.
The man eyes Silas, face flickering with a touch of anger, but still seemingly calm. "What you know of this man reveal now, I see you know something. If you do, no harm will befall your group. To Deny me is to deny the shadow nation of the Zhents, and the Zhentarim never forget a slight."
"Never met him, seen.a few corpses that may been him but the jungle has a tendency to do things to corpses so it's hard to tell for sure if it was him. No offense but black haired human man isn't uncommon. if I talk to him, ill make sure you'll know somehow. I'm a little distracted, for reason, I want some baked goods," Silas says looking around.

Sir Darak Darkhall: At the mention of Zhentarim, Darak draws Onyx and shouts, "DRAW STEEL AND FACE THE MIGHT OF TYR!" Shimmering holy light surrounds the Paladin as he rushes the men.
Movement: Engage as many as possible while getting as many as possible within 30ft
Silas will sigh and then chuckle as his attempts at deception before looking at the talker and "I guess we should not allow this slight to reach your alliance," Silas will cast Guiding Bolt.
Attack: 7 Damage: 20 - if this hits, next attack against him has advantage.
Silas will use his Channel Divinity: Guided Strike to add +10 to hit so it's 17 to hit the talker.

Sickle is concerned as he sees things breaking down as these strange folks are questioning them in the night. He starts to step forward to help in the conversation when he hears Sir Darak scream and he is stunned as things begin unfolding too quickly for him to understand what’s happening.
Mandra cocks her head at the sudden bursts of divine energy, recalling the other holy men she’s met in her previous life, and wondering if they were all this confrontational. She stands in the shadows thrown by the campfire, behind any cover should it exist.
