Boris plants his axe into the dead cat three more time, spray blood across the room as he shouts and growls at it.
A few moments later everything is quiet aside from the heavy breathing and crackling smoking coming from one body. You shake the others and they awaken to find the battle done and no one injured except for Boris, looking a little glassy eyed from some poison and a few scratches.

How does a red dragon blow out the candles on its birthday cake?
The group wanders around the area, thinking perhaps the shrine to Shagambi could be around here somewhere. You come sneaking up a stone stairway, and hear some quiet mewling sounds. Peaking over the edge is a portion of the building where the greenery has been pushed aside, forming barriers in a large round area. Within, three small fluffy jaguars are sitting. Two are curled up and sleeping while the other sits, awake, and stares right at the group of you. No apparent shrine, but there is a nest. Numerous dead bodies appear here, including a few fresh ones that have been picked apart. Bits of backpacks and equipment lie about. The baby cats do not appear to have snakes coming out of them, and are no threat to you. Digging about, you find a thick leather bag that is strangely difficult to see the bottom of no matter how you hold it, and that has magic that makes your fingers tingle as you touch it. You turn it inside out and a whole bunch of stuff falls out. There are three weeks of food, a rain catcher, two water skins, three daggers, twelve pitons, 100 foot length of silk rope with a grapple hook on the end. There are also few silver items, heavily tarnished but obviously made of silver are found, old, and with ancient Omuan on them. You'd figure they're worth probably 300 gold combined. You also find a potion of healing. There's also a wooden tube, inside which you find a scroll. It contains the 2nd level spell of Earthbind. The bag everything fell out of is obviously a bag of holding.
Mal, the remnants of the freshest body has clothes that marks it as one of Red Wizards. You recognize the magical bag as one that a rather nasty woman named 'Tzzanam' used to carry.
Sickle awakens from the magical slumber, shaking away dreams of mountains and tunnels, misty highlands and glittering mines, darkened by a swirling vortex and screaming would, and cold tingling in his arm. He looks about at the remains of the cats, “Pity,” and then looks for the chwinga (who presumably had rejoined them on leaving the shrine?)
Upon their discovery, he smiles grimly. “Not sure who lost these, but it is to our gain today. We should press on if we can.”
"I doubt we'll be last to visit this city. Let's just not be ones who stay here like them," Silas points to the dead.

Mal laughs, "I knew who this belonged to and I am not saddened by her demise, she was a ruthless employer and I would be not be surprised if she was taken out by what was left of her own group since she obviously survived the feathered behemoth out there." With that Mal walks over the body and takes up a look out position as the rest of her things are gathered up.
Sickle isn't sure what happened during the battle, but the Chwinga continues to sit on his shoulder as he stands up from his slumber of haunted dreams. He could be wrong, but he thinks he hears a faint whisper for a moment coming from his ring. It's too quiet and unformed to make out words, but it's gone before he can really focus on it.
Mal watches as the group picks through the belongings.
After gathering things up (let me know how you split them), the group takes Sickle's advice and presses on.
A search of the building turns up no shrine and so the group continues south. Ahead, you see a walled area. Smoke drifts lazily from the compound. The gate lies in splinters, and scorch marks deface the buildings. Approaching quietly, you peer in through a gap in the wall. Near the center of the compound is a plaza littered with charred human corpses. Mal, this is where the Red Wizards had setup their camp, and this is where it had been destroyed by the feathered beast.
Before you move forward to investigate more closely, you see a woman, lithe, wearing fine silks walk into the plaza from a side building. She speaks out loud, "Trao-cath szzzorma gitmor teeth." From behind her, a man wearing only pants with a wide golden colored belt, with a wide blade on his side walks forward. But, his entire head is that of a snake. He has a powerful upper torso and muscled human arms. He replies, "Zzzath morb bish yan."
Another man, this one with patches of green scales across his otherwise human body wanders out, a crossbow in his hands, followed by two more muscled men with snake heads. You can hear the sound of more activity somewhere in the compound. It sounds like rocks being moved.
"Since you guys wanted me to speak up when I start seeing things, I'm looking at snake men. That's pretty crazy right?" Silas said nonchalantly while pointing the general direction.

Mal raises her hand for silence whispering, "This is my old groups camp or what is left of it and those snake people over there are speaking in Draconic. They are saying there are no other survivors around but one lone survivor they are digging out form somewhere. Probably where those rock moving sounds are coming from. From experience these snake people can be tough but if we get the drop on them, it should not be a problem. I suggest taking out the female one first as she seems to be the one in charge."
Urgh, those are just the ones we can see. What if there are more of them? Badger doesn't look so much nervous about the encounter, but rather calculating the odds and risks.
