What are you waiting for? Badger hisses at Mal. A written invitation? A sign from the gods? Clearly the pressure is setting in. Looking at Sickle's box, Badger says quietly: Well, if it doesn't work, then at least it's better bait than 'one of us'. He whispers the spell for Mage Hand, then has the hand carry the box just beyond the edge of the pool and wave it cautiously around.

With a look of annoyance, Mal responds slowly as if she is talking to a child, "Well, if the lock is magical or beyond my skills, it might break and then we will never get inside, which is why I was asking the group if you wanted me to try, but so be it."

Mal begins picking the lock. Meanwhile, the box hovers out over the water by about fifteen feet before reaching the furthest distance of Badgers spell. He waves it around for a few moments....the eye stalk sees it...two more eye stalks pop up in the same area (you guys noticed when it appeared to attack that it has 3 eye stalks).....they follow the box around. Badger slows it. The water erupts as a tentacles sweeps out to smash the box. Attack: 16 Damage: 19

A shiver runs up Mal's spine, the cold touch of fear, but she shakes it off. "Click" the massive lock gives way to her picks.
The inside of the shrine is laid out before you, one large open room. Steps descend to a ledge overlooking a pit of sharpened stakes. An alcove on the far wall holds a pedestal with a stone cube resting on it. A relief carved into the back of the alcove shows a monstrous frog with tentacles fighting a crane. There are some inscriptions below. Wooden beams radiate from the walls at floor height, with four-foot gaps between them. Carved frog heads extrude from the walls above the beams.
Orvex speaks up, "Kubazan fighting Papazot. A wily eblis stepped from his reed hut. He didn't like the Omuans, but without them he'd have no one to play his tricks on. The eblis sent a marsh frog to reason with Ubtao, but the frog was angry and decided to wrestle the god instead. This amused Ubtao, so he gave the frog tentacles to make it stronger. When Kubazan the froghemoth returned to Papazotl the eblis, he chased Papazotl into the swamp with his new tentacles."
Its 25 feet across the shrine to the platform that has the pedestal and the cube. You figure if you were so inclined you could hop from beam to beam along the edge of the shrine to get over to the other side.

"I am going to suggest we not go rushing in, let me look to see if there are any traps that I can see, as that lock was most definitely trapped" Mal says.
Silas will give Guidance if/when Mal goes inside just in case but only giving a moment attention before keeping his body point at the pool. Warhammer and Ioun Stone at the ready.

Mal carefully examines the stairs that lead down to the landing, not spotting anything. They look worn, dusty, and solid. The wooden beams that stick out of the wall above the spike filled pit definitely can move though, likely into the walls, based on the gaps around the spaces where the beams meet the wall. Though the mechanism isn't clear. From here, it's difficult to check the pedestal with the stone for traps, but you don't see anything obvious.

Mandra, eyes still on the pool ready to hurl fire down on anything that attacks, will reach over and tap Mal on the shoulder with one of her raven feathers and cast Fly on her. "This should help you navigate any of those pedestrian traps these borish Omuans seem to be placing everywhere."
Badger is staring at the pit and the pedestal on the other side and muttering to himself, rubbing his nose in thought. Tread without fear ... give as much as you take ...
He squats on the floor, takes out the cube they took from the other shrine, weighing it in one hand while cupping a changing number of sling bullets with the other. Then as Mal reaches the other side, he calls out Wait!
"Thank you." Mal says and she then launches herself in the air to fly to the platform, looking down into the put to see if she sees anything of interest. Then will head to the platform and see if there are any traps around the cube and if she can not see any she will grab it.
Mal flies across the pit and hovers on the far side, examining for traps. Mal doesn't see any sign of traps on the pedestal. Badger yells, "Wait!" Everybody eyes him.

"Give back as much as we take" it said calls Badger. Perhaps we must replace the cube with something of equal weight. Fly back here and take this pouch. If my calculations are correct, it should weigh the same as the cube.
Badger has a strange premonition of being chased down the main street of Omu by a giant rolling feathery T-Rex, and falling at the feet of a necromancer surrounded by tribe of zombie vegepygmies.
Mal will take a look at the lock and see if she can do anything about it or what might be required.

Mal investigates the lock. Yup. Looks like a lock. It's certainly a well made lock, but, a lock all the same.
