You can hear the sounds of some large, squishy things moving around within. if you wish to head in and fight roll init. If you’re trying to take them unawares, roll stealth as well.

If so, Silas will stay behind in the control room with who stays. If no else does, Silas will move the control knobs every few minutes back and forth since we can't communicate.

Only way we can leave the room is configuration 3 and that just lead the way we came in so need someone at controls to move from 3 to 1 if you want to go into garden area or third gear. Ideally there's a way to get out of control room farther into the map the party can find.

If the rooms are at configuration #3, and if you set the crystal to position #1 but don't press the button, the rooms will remain at configuration #3 and you can move to the central room. If there is a way to then press the button from a distance, the rooms will change to configuration #1 while you are in the central room. Using a familiar could be one way to press the button remotely.)

Glancing into the plant room you see the large piles of rotting vegetation as before, though three large piles seem to sort of be “scooching” around the room slowly. The mist Badger saw through his eye when the hallway to the north room was open seems to have dispersed with the source of gas cut off.
