"Are we done with this room now, can we move on or do we need to set off some kind of trap killing us, again, before we move on?" Mal asks the group from the doorway.
Surprised, Grenk looks to the side. "You have a nice nap there Badger? Maybe you can help me. There is a crystal in this green soupy stuff. Can you magic it out?"
Badger looks up at Grenk and his face blanches once again. Turning back he sees that the horrific Grenk-copy is gone, but the memory of it lingers, and he can't bear to face Grenk again right now. Waving him away, Badger stumbles out of the room, replying to Grenk: Yes, perhaps, maybe later... As he passes the others, he looks at and speaks to each in turn. To Sickle he speaks with undisguised sincerity accompanied by a pat on the arm: Thank you once more, my friend. What would we do without your strength? Looking to Silas, Badger voice quivers again: This time it is Grenk. But first it was you! This is a portent of the future. Beware! Then as he passes Mal, he says: No doubt you will be third. Don't say I didn't warn you! And with that he departs the room and slumps down in the corridor with eyes closed.

Grenk didn't want to leave without that crystal. Seeing as how he couldn't destroy the fort to release the green soupy stuff, he instead pushed his hand axe into it in attempt scoop or push it out of the font and onto the floor where he could pick it up.
In Grenk's vision, as soon as the soup was added to the font, the crystal "vanished". Then the soup filled the font. So, the crystal is not at the bottom of the font, but magically held somehow in the font, in some way that is related to the soup. That said, as he tries to scoop some soup out with his axe, he finds his axe simply flows through the soup without touching it, as if it were an illusion. His axe does not find purchase on any stone at the bottom either. This would seem is another puzzle, and not straight forward.

Mal shakes her head as she watches Grenk playing with the font, why do I allow myself to do stupid things, I swear. Then she walks over to the font and plunges her hand in hoping to grab the crystal Grenk mentioned.
Grenk sighs for as Mal stuffs her hand into it. "That's... not going to work," Grenk says and pulls her back. "I can sometimes have visions regarding an object or item. That font is another dam puzzle. Seems as long as the liquid is there the gem is not. Like it's magiked away and will only appear when the stuff is gone."
ooc: Is the soupy stuff continously being poured into the font or did it just fill in until full? If it's continuous Grenk will take a moment to try and test out the properties and then try to plug it up by jamming into it.
Mal reaches into the soupy steaming mixture. She feels nothing. With her eyes closed, she'd swear the bowl is completely empty.
The soup is not being refilled from anywhere....it was just poured in until full. However neither axe blade, nor Mal's hand seems able to grab or grasp any of the liquid.

While Badger is sitting and recuperating, he will pull out his spell-book and begin casting Comprehend Languages as a ritual and then make an attempt to communicate with the human peasant.
(The spell only allows Badger to understand a spoken language, not to speak it, but Badger can use hand gestures and prompt him to repeat his previous prattling, and see if he has something useful to contribute...)
Badger begins trying to interact with the man. The man sits down next to Badger and begins a somewhat limited exchange with him. Badger attempts to start the conversation by talking and trying to prompt him into saying something. He is happy to oblige, "Yellow cuspids are a poor sign for any I would think. Not only the space but the black and grey terror that sits upon us all like a riot. Wouldn't you agree small hairy child thing?"
Badger is momentarily concerned maybe his spell is malfunctioning but.....?

Badger shakes his head in dismay, but tries again. Tapping the man to get his attention, he then points into the room and makes a questioning gesture with his hands.
The man looks to the room, then nods vigorously at Badger, "My shadow danced with me in a that place of darkness, followed I'm sure by wings of smoke. Circling, always circling, but taking away the best parts and leaving only the husk of a ceramic export business."

Badger snorts when he hears "the husk of a ceramic export business". Mad as a redcap, but he'd probably make good coin as an avant-garde poet in Waterdeep, he thinks to himself. Still, there may be some kernels of truth among the husks of his ramblings. My shadow danced with me...
Turning aside from the human, Badger calls out to his companions: Hey there. Come out of the room for a moment, I might have something...
(OOC: Roughly how long would it have been between when the peasant walked past this room to when we got there?)

How does a red dragon blow out the candles on its birthday cake?
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
If/when the others come out of the room, Badger explains: It is possible that this human here experienced a similar phenomenon to Grenk, and saw a shadowy version of himself when he looked in the room. Let's see if we can duplicate the occurrence. Mal, you try!
From his squatting position in the hall, Badger will direct the experiment if the others agree, attempting to re-create the shadowy figure that copies someone's movements, although he refrains from looking directly at it himself. Can try with door open, or close it first, or wait up to five minutes, or any other variables he might think of... Investigation: 17

He seems shaken and jittery still, but doesn't appear to have aged or suffered other ill effects.
