The unnamed peasant comes into the room, and consumes a cake happily, smiling as he does so. Grenk also down a cake, with pinky up. (Grenk gains 14 Temporary HPs.)
The peasant seems very impressed and nods up and down, muttering in a foreign language. Badger understands him without trouble, "This cake is excellent...I've...I've never felt so good...I feel like I could walk through fire! Or...or...run across a river!"
Badger sips the beer. Indeed...the beer is quite good. Frothy, bubbly, and with wonderful notes of things that people who drink beer care to have notes of in their beer. Badger feels an edge of inspiration creep into his body...though...something else vanishes. (Badger has a 1d6 that he can use once in the next 24 hours, and add to any d20 roll. However, Badgers ability from Obo'laka to attune to a 4th magical item goes away. If he has attuned to a 4th item, the last one he attuned to abruptly becomes unattuned.)
Silas pokes at the design with his torch. And the end of the torch vanishes into the tapestry where the mouth is....without touching the tapestry itself...as if going into another dimension or a portal or bag of holding type of situation.

The room abruptly fills with total darkness.
The commoner yells, "BLASCK CHOSTA MOR TOOOSTA!!!"
Badger hears the common yell, "THE MIRROR RETURNS FOR OUR SOULS!!!" as he can be heard dropping to the ground and scrambling towards the door.
Badger has no idea what caused the sudden darkness, but his first assumption is that the butler did it. Using his helm, he reaches out in search of unfamiliar thoughts...
Detect Thoughts with the helm, scanning for the butler's presence, and then reading his surface thoughts.

How does a red dragon blow out the candles on its birthday cake?
Badger reaches out into the darkness for the thoughts and sorts filtering through the random CHAOS that are the thoughts of his allies. In fact....with all the "ride along spirits" and the Dao and the little children dolls, Badger is a bit overwhelmed trying to pick out the thoughts of the butler. Eventually he pins it down though and focus'. The butler's thoughts seem preoccupied with survival. He seems aware that the group killed the witches, who were his....employer? creator? maybe captor? ... anyway.....and he's mostly concerned with not being accidentally on purpose killed by the lot of you.
Mal, with raised crossbow ready to fire swinging back and forth between where she last saw Badger and Silas, says through gritted teeth, "Not funny Grenk, not funny."
Then she leaves and goes back through the door into the hags room.

Grenk laughs a bit more. "Come on now, it was a little funny." He laughs again. "Okay, okay, I'm done. Let me make it up to you. You said that tapestry has like a demon face? Let me see if I can gleam anything from it." He touches the tapestry and tries to feel out its history.
Mal walks out of the room, and emerges from the darkness in the room.....finding herself able to see again. The civilian crawls out of the darkness and looks around, then gets up and tries to hug Mal, but she pushes him away.
Grenk meanwhile, in the darkness, walks over to the curtain, he can feel the curtain and begins analyzing it...but as he does so, his hand "slips" through a 'hole in the curtain, and...with his arm, you can feel around inside and there seems to be a small space....and what feels like a metal lever that he can feel with his hand.

Grenk grits his teeth, "Ahh, I got it by it's uvula. You ain't takin my arm ya demon..." he growls out while gripping it tightly and yanks towards himself and then let's go. "Oh, it's just a lever... It was a lever everyone. Just a hidden lever."
Hearing the noise, Badger feels his way out of the room and into the hall to join Mal. Did Grenk say he pulled a lever? That's it? Badger seems surprised and more than a little disappointed that the solution to the gate is as simple as that. No risk-benefit analysis? No intellectual gymnastics? No mental one-upmanship? What were they all even here for??
Badger stays at the door and calls out to the others to help guide everyone out of the darkness and back into the hall.

Grenk shrugs and makes his way back towards Badger's voice. Then he bangs a knee on the table as he passes letting out a loud "Damn it," accompanied by the squawk of the table slightly moving across the ground.
Making it back to the others he rubs his knee and says, "So uh, we move to door 4 or work back to 2 or what?"
"Temptation was the challenge I believe. If there is not anythin else, we should move on," Silas states as he moves back out.

Grenk departs the room, then Silas is last....though when Silas leaves the room he's suddenly wracked by terrible hunger pains. He grabs his stomach in pain....feeling terrible. (disadvantage to all attack and ability checks).
Badger, Mal, Grenk, and the civilian all seem ok though. As do the dolls....and the frog for that matter. Keshma though..when she emerges, also grabs her stomach. "Uuuuuhhhh, what is this horrible feeling....I am suddenly so hungry..."

Grenk walks over to the next door. This one with a triangle on it. The triangle key fits and unlocks it with a click. Beyond the door, a five-foot-wide, floor-to-ceiling glass cylinder near the back wall of this room is filled with light, the source of which is not apparent. A tiny triangular hole is cut through the glass, five feet above the floor. Inside the cylinder, an iron lever is set into a metal plate on the floor. The room is fifteen feet wide and ten feet across.

Another lever? asks Badger unnecessarily. The purpose of the light is unclear, but then the presence of the food in the previous room was equally unenlightening. No need for unnecessary risks here, I should think, the gnome declares before conjuring his Mage Hand to appear inside the cylinder and move the lever...

The mage hand appears within the cylinder and moves down and attempts to move the lever...but as hard as it can push, it's unable to move it. It's either very heavy or stuck, at least beyond what the transparent magical hand can accomplish.
