"Keshma, we will focus on the creature. Can you use your magic to create a bridge to the other platform or do you have some magic that can be used to deal damage to one of the spikes holding the device up? Heck can you summon reinforceme to to help?" Grenk asks.
If his roll was to shoot the baby, he'd pull our his bow and prepare it with his blood magic for radiant damage.
"So any spells or abilities for preparations?" Silas questions.

Sickle says in a cold, monotone voice, "Lava? Very well, please stand close to me while I cast a spell. If you fall into the lava, you should be able to land on your feet and not die instantly, it'll still burn you though."
Badger casts Mage Armor on himself as is his daily habit. He considers casting Invisibility on the group, but figures it wouldn't work as Grenk described the creature seeing him in the Ethereal. Then Badger remembers a brief vision that flashed into his mind just as he was waking - a portent of the future perhaps - and speaks up with a new idea.
"I have a scroll here. A spell that I believe can bend the fabric of time even more than my other spells. I know little of its power but it should allow me to make some effect on the cylinder or its supports while the passage of time is halted."
Badger doesn't expect anyone else to comprehend such matters, but they may have some useful ideas...

How does a red dragon blow out the candles on its birthday cake?
Anyone got any other suggestions if I cast Time Stop? I have a nat20 portent roll, so 100% success of casting a higher level scroll, if I read the rules correctly. It's either Time Stop or Disintegrate.

Badger feels good. He feels confident. His visions of the future haven't always been reliable, but he feels that this time he can see the end from the beginning, and he just knows he can cast these powerful spells. Without further ado, and knowing that they can modify their plans based on the outcome of this gambit, Badger unfurls the scroll and starts to read...
Cast Time Stop, using Portent roll of 20 for the ability check to read a high-powered scroll. Number of turns: 4

Badger uses his divination abilities to focus on the scroll, bending the energy the right way at each turn, until the powerful magic on the scroll is unleashed into the world around him. The world crawls to a halt, sound seemingly stretching out until everything is silent. People are frozen in spot.....Mal in a rather silly looking half-blink look....Grenk and Silas still staring at him...and Sickle...his blue eyes with their thousand mile stare seemingly still watching him, a chill runs through him. Alright....time to move.
You have four turns.
Everyone also roll initiative (including you Badger), though you'll get an additional "surprise" round once time lurches in, so you make also take a 5th turn. Though your friends will all be upstairs and also "surprised" that round.....
Time Stop Turn #1. Badger walks down the stairs, getting his first look at the room with the lava and the cylinder and the freaky baby monster, and finding that Grenk's description was actually quite accurate (not bad for a sword-swinging goliath, especially one possessed with an addle-brained chaos-machine like I'jin) but also feeling like he has seen it before. As he walks down the stairs Badger unfurls his second scroll and begins to intone the spell thereon, but indeed the entire scene is unfolding before him just like a scroll, and reading itself as if from the pages of his foresight. Time is stopped but it is as though it is repeating itself, the 'real' only slightly more vivid than the premonition that only returns to Badger's memory as it happens. Fixing his gaze on the nearest of the heavy struts supporting the structure, Badger releases the spell of Disintegration.
Casting from scroll and using Portent roll of 14 plus Badger's INT modifier of +5 for the ability check.
(I'll try to get Badger through these solo-turns as quick as possible, to avoid everyone else's boredom. But first need to know what happens with Disintegrate on the supports. Then perhaps I can post a few turns together)

Damage: 89 ... But isn't a damage roll just for targeting creatures?
A creature targeted by this spell must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, the target takes 10d6 + 40 force damage. ... This spell automatically disintegrates a Large or smaller nonmagical object or a creation of magical force. If the target is a Huge or larger object or creation of force, this spell disintegrates a 10-foot- cube portion of it. A magic item is unaffected by this spell.

Badger casts his spell, and sees the strut, obviously made of adamantine....get eaten away by his spell....leaving a jagged broken connection on both sides. With time stopped, he's unable to tell if that's done the trick or if the other two struts may still keep the thing up.
3 more time stop rounds.

With a huff, "Yea, that is pretty much what I said earlier, now can we do this already?" Mal says sarcastically, eying Sickle with trepidation.

Badger also looks to the nameless peasant, and wonders whether he can be useful. Maybe as a distraction.

The nameless peasant looks back at Badger...and his eyes are suddenly shaded with concern and fear.....as if he can tell what Badger is thinking.
So...is that the plan then? Anyone doing anything else? Opening the door and heading down the stairs?
