Fouder lets his crossbow hang by his side. "Where did they all go?" he asks, exasperated. He moves towards Tennezaz, looking at the book which at this point is just sitting there. "Yes? What of it?"
"It would appear that our foes have more knowledge of this place than ourselves - always one step ahead. In this instance, likely using this book." Solomon approaches Tennezaz and flicks through the book himself.
The group splits up in the quiet room and begins to search. Fingolin’s eyes filter out as little magical blips begin to light up the room.
The book glows with strong conjuration enchantment. As Solomon turns the pages, every page is blank.
Fingolin also sees conjuration glow emit from the fireplace as it’s probably magical fire that doesn’t use fuel or die down. There are other things that light up throughout the room, scrolls in the bookshelves, small case that sits in a drawer, a cloak from a dresser.
Brocc is able to find all these things, but his conversations with ghosts previously staying in the tower and the face it’s been more difficult to get supplies than he thought. Most items within the tower need to have a command phrase to allow it to be picked up.
Brocc is also to find a wand, under the pillow do the bed. Not under charm that needs a command word and can be picked up.
During the search as it begins to look up fruitless, the room doors glow lightly with blue as the party turns to find a well dressed ghost. Formal robes and pointed hat, even in spectral form a Phoenix feather plumes from the hat. He looks disgruntled and perplexed “What in the nine hells is going on here, why are you in my room?”
"Oh, what an entrance!" Fingolin strikes two chords and bows to the ghost, in an attempt to add gravitas to bedroom invasion. "Are you perhaps the master of this tower?" Gesturing towards the others: "We are here on a quest to chase away those who would seek to claim its power and use it to wage war. We have chased them to this room, but they disappeared before we got in. Is there a portal hidden in this room?"
After pocketing the wand Brocc will return to where others are at the desk.
When the ghost appears Brocc will give it a nod of greeting. He has gotten use to talking with these ghosts during his time in the tower so far. "A great destruction has come to our world." He explains to the ghost, as he has many times before from the way he says it. "You died in the event, and are a ghost now haunting this tower. We are here to salvage what we can and find a way to survive in this new world." He nods to the others in the group. "These others may have a more specific reason for being here, but, for myself, I am here as a refuge and, since I was studying in the tower previously, am trying to learn all I can that might help us survive in this world now."
Fouder stays back from the ghost, not being a fan of the undead in any form. He watches as Brocc talks to it, staying alert for any signs of danger, of anything in the room not being what it seems, of any clues that might suggest more beings may appear.
The ghost looks disgruntled at Brocc’s remarks. “What kind of nitwit do you believe me to be sir? Of course I am dead, and I am not haunting Blackstaff tower. Every Mage that leads the tower stays with the tower to continue their work and help protect it. Why do you think it continues to say pristine!” The ghost says proudly. “It has been indeed troublesome out there, hasn’t it?” He speaks once the outside world is mentioned. “Hmm, disappeared you say? Curious.” He walks over to the book and speaks the command word - Wizard’s Wisdom - and the book shows lines and lines filled with inscription. “Hmmm, yes, they went into the laboratory vault. Quite troublesome indeed. Well if you’re after them, you should go quickly before they release her...”. He puts the book down and it begins to glow pink once again.

The ghost looks almost excited at the chance to converse with other people, live ones in fact! He sits down in a chair “Well ever since the moon portal was created to Evermeet in the Feywild, there were always ones that seemed to exploit the port-key. Abominations from the Feydark would attempt to cross over. Blackstaff s of precious years were happy to have a stream of .... Subjects for their excitements. When I took over, I got rid of that dastardly behavior. True men of magic and science need to adhere to greater sense of ethics you see. So, one day a Fomorian crawled through. I trapped her and blind her to the tower and exploited her magical aura to act as a dam, holding back all those who would pass from the feydark. She is cruel and twisted creature. I’m sure very powerful, not to mention of her shackles are removed, what may follow after.
All you need to do is touch the book. You will find yourself where you need to be. They are probably working to unshackle her as we speak. If you stop that foul creatures escape, come find me.
Solomon silently wills the spirit on as it sits and talks to them, impatience getting the better of him. His heart sinks as it mentions the Fomorian, having read of them in another lifetime, back in the days when his chances of actually meeting one were comparatively low. Steeling his nerves, he addresses the others, in a low, measured tone.
"We take no chances here, no mercy to our foes. We leave nothing alive, save the Fomorian, should it still be shackled." With an open palm, Solomon touches the book.

(since Tennanaz said he would scout, I would say he touches the book first quickly followed by the group)
Tenennaz touches the book and in a flash he disappears. What he sees is a dark dreary basement type room. As his vision begins to adjust to a change in the light. “Shew”. A cross bolt whistles in the air.
Attack: 12 Damage: 8 on hit take an addition 9 sneak attack damage.
The bolt sticks into the rock wall behind him before the shaft crumbles on impact. As he ducks and moves behind cover, another flash as the rest of the group appears.
You look into this vast dimly lit room. Scattered tables and shelves are everywhere. Glowing runes on the walls and floor ebb and flow with pulses of energy. Blue torches are evenly spaced on the walls. The room is wet very cold. You instantly see your breath visibly hang in the air. (Tennanaz) now sees one of the rogues of the other party bunkered down, waiting for you to follow. He yells back “They’re here!” Looking further you see three other figures standing some 60-75 feet away readying themselves for battle. Further beyond that up several stairs you see the kobold/half Orc duo. The half Orc standing guard as the kobold on his shoulders is reading from a book. Behind the Kobold is a large fluid filled cylinder, a frozen fomorian is inside with its mutilated face and horrid appearance stuck in time. Five large runic circles line the wall. One at the base on the left and right, one on top, and one in between (like a star around the cylinder) the top glyph circle is glowing red.

"Stop what you're doing, Kobold, if you value your life! I don't know what Kolyyt promised you, but is it really worth dying for? Put down your weapons and that book and you are free to walk away."

"If any of you have a spell to make it so the kobold there cannot read the book any longer, I would use it now." Brocc says as he sends his mount into a charge. "Fog cloud, darkness, sleep, even minor illusion might be useful here." He calls back over his shoulder. He aims his lance at those blocking the path to the kobold and has Pounce move directly to those blocking the stairs. He will hit one of them this round, due to a double move by his mount taking him up to 80 feet...
