Gniff walks along beside Sildar and engages the man, "I am from the wilds of this area yes. A ways away but from the place you all call Emberhorn Kingdom. I had arrived in this actual area maybe a week or two ago, never gathered the courage to go into the city though. It is so big!"
As they walk Gniff takes small steps away from the road and forages a good amount of edible nuts and berries and shares with any who are interested.
Outlander
Feature: Wanderer
You have an excellent memory for maps and geography, and you can always recall the general layout of terrain, settlements, and other features around you. In addition, you can find food and fresh water for yourself and up to five other people each day, provided that the land offers berries, small game, water, and so forth.
As the group stops for lunch he continues to engage Sildar while he chews on his gathered meal.
"S-should we take a r-rest for lunch?" Gerrack asks the others. He looks at Sildar in particular. "Do you f-feel winded? You were t-t-trapped in that c-cave for s-some time, it s-seemed."
Hearing Sildar question everyone's origins, Gerrack becomes quiet and withdrawn. "I hail from the G-G-Grey Lands," he mumbles, eyes downcast. "Though I c-call E-Emberhorn my h-home, now."
(( If everyone does stop for a lunch break, Gerrack will take the opportunity to try to hunt for something to eat: Survival: 24 ))
Sildar: (to Gerrack) "The Grey Lands? A rough and savage place for the unprepared. No wonder you are an adventurer. Things probably seem peaceful and easy here by comparison. Glad you decided to move here. The Emberhorn Kingdom could always use more people."
Tandon takes his turn telling his story, brief as it may be. “I’m from the mountains in the far west. Tough landscape.... tough people.”
Sildar: (to Tandon) "Wow, you are far from home. We got plenty of mountains here." Sildar points to the Unresting Crags in the distance. "Hopefully it makes you feel right at home."
Gerrack willingly accepts Edmond's help, given that there is any duck left to prepare...
18 (wait... Edmond wants to help PREPARE the ducks, not COOK the ducks... OUR STOMACHS LOVE YOU EDMOND)
Second survial roll representing advantage: 16
Cooking roll: 9
@ Gerrack and Edmond, Gerrack starts to skin and defeather the duck. Unfortunately Gerrack never has done such a thing before was about to do it in a way where he would loose crucial meat. Edmond walks over and shows him how to do it properly. (OOC: the duck is near perfectly prepared. [DM's comment were you skinning and cooking both ducks? only one duck would be needed for a single meal.]) Gerrack tried his hand at cooking the duck... it wasn't terrible for a first time trying to cook but the taste is definitely below the standard. (OOC: if you keep cooking i will let you know when you gain proficiency and if i feel like special cooking abilities. you gained an unseen cook point.)
(OOC: @ everyone, i did mean to wait to see if everyone wanted to stop for lunch, i guess since i started the scene the party is. so sorry to anyone who wanted to keep traveling for deciding to stop before letting everyone at least say what they wanted to do. So feel free to rp your lunch time. when everyone is ready i will continue the story with the rest of the days journey.)

Thankful for Edmond's help with the preparation of the duck, Gerrack splits the meal with the paladin. He's not sure if his cooking skill is appreciated, given that it's his first time eating something he's hunted in a state other than raw, but since Edmond doesn't seem to be turning blue in the face and falling over, he guesses that it was at least partially successful.
Eying the second duck, Gerrack asks everyone "W-would anyone e-else like to try some w-w-wild d-duck?"
"No duck for me thank you, I also have plenty of nuts and berries to share if anyone wants some," he says showing his small hoard of the stuff. "I am really just so happy to have met all of you. I cannot wait to see where we go from here. I also cannot wait until I can introduce you to Quinn. He will feel so much better being around a herd again."
Finnian is all too happy to discuss the arcane with Misty, especially since he finally has someone to bounce ideas off of. He takes the opportunity to share the many spells he'd accrued from the old tower with her, including several that he was still yet to make heads or tails of. He eats a ration as they continue sharing what they've learned with each other.
Gimble would always be keeping his eyes open as they travel.
Perception 17
But when breaking for meals he would pull the statue of the frog out and begin to tinker to make a clockwork device that looked exactly like it.
(OOC: go ahead and give me a d20 plus your proficiency bonus. [DM's comment, you will need a tinker's tool set, and materials to build things in the future, in this case i will let it slide and just say you found some materials in the loot in the cave for this attempt.])

"You are w-welcome," Gerrack says, sharing the rest of the wild duck with Tandon. He listens closely to everyone's stories, eyes taking in what the others are doing and saying as he scribbles down his thoughts and notes in his journal, and when Gniff passes by with some nuts and berries, he gratefully partakes in some.
"Q-Quinn?" he asks, when Gniff speaks. "W-what sort of a c-creature is this Quinn?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
To Sildar...
"I am from Serenia..." Misty says with a shrug. She then turns back to Finnian and continues their discussion of magic, but a little less-energeticly now. "I suppose we won't be able to get too much done until we rest tonight huh?" She says, deciding it might be more prudent to help keep an eye out for more of those bandits from earlier.
Gniff turns to Gerrack, "Oh Quinn is a deer that I met while staying outside the city. I found him injured and sad, his family had been over hunted. It's a real shame that some people just don't understand the value of nature and the delicate balance it requires to function correctly. Hunting is a fact of life and no one can be faulted for it, except when taken too far. In either case, I helped him back to a good place and he has been a great companion ever since, he is quite the chatter box really. He had gone off foraging the other morning as he usually does otherwise he would have loved to help all of you." The halfling always seems to be upbeat but looks really proud of his friendship with the deer. Those few moments he mentioned over hunting his face clouds over but it is short lived.
"P-perhaps it is for the b-best he was f-f-foraging... I can't i-imagine that the w-wolf would have gotten along with Q-Q-Quinn peacefully," Gerrack replies with a touch of doubt. "All aarakocra are n-natural h-hunters, or at least we were, in the p-past. I am n-not as s-skilled as some of my b-brethren, but t-there are many an aarakocran who would t-think nothing of s-snatching a deer, or even a c-c-cow from a f-farmer. The i-idea of o-ownership, let alone f-f-friendship with a c-creature one c-could eat is f-f-foreign to most of us." Seeing Gniff's look of increasing wariness, he raises his hands in peace. "B-but that does not m-mean I f-feel the same w-way... I am still l-learning much, and look f-forward to m-meeting him... as your f-friend, and not a potential m-meal."
"Oh, I don't discourage anyone from hunting. Like I said, hunting is integral for many to survive. If the wolf or wolves happened to have taken Quinn then I would be sad but they are just doing what they were born for. Same for your race Gerrack, they do what they do. It is when people hunt beyond what they need, when they kill for sport or wipe out a large amount of woodland for no reason that is what I disagree with." He pats Gerrack lightly on the wing with a friendly smile.
