@ the party, the party departs from the city and travels all day long towards the castle. First leaving the city, passing by the various farms and other homesteads located outside the city's walls. You all follow the road northward until you reach the spare forest known as the Triboar Trail. Shortly after entering it, Gniff's friend, Quinn the buck, rejoins the party. You all do your best to follow the dirt paths within the trail until none lead towards your destination. After nearly 12 hours of traveling it starts to grow dark and the party decides it would be best to camp. Everyone feels certain that they are less than a day away from the castle based on the given directions. Someone (OOC: feel free to decide who) makes a camp fire. The party has their evening meal. (OOC: mark off a ration, if you do not have a ration give me a survival check to see if you manage to hunt something down to eat.) (OOC 2: For those that will watch during the night give me a perception check.)

Gimble pulls out a fancy looking clockwork device resembling a frog. As he clicks it, a small flame is produced. Someone looking at him would see Gimble holding a fire spitting frog.
“I can take first watch. Anyone up for a friendly game of cards?”

Tessa is happy to take the second watch, passing the time drawing new patterns on her coat with Prestidigitation as her pseudodragon familiar circles the camp.

So he takes extra effort to patrol the camp while everyone else is sleeping. His suspicion is proven correct as he spots someone hiding poorly in the woods. Gimble quietly wakes everyone up. Gniff has been in a truly pleasant mood since they got to the forest, happily walking beside Quinn and patting his neck often. Even though he has not cast Speak with Animals he still spends most of their walk quietly chatting with the buck. As thet bed down he produces some of the foraged food he slowly acquired and eats the small portion, promising to produce more the next day to cover people's rations should they be interested (Outlander background feature.)
As he wakes he all but jumps up, looking how he can assist.
After Gimble quickly and quietly waking everyone up, the figures come into the clearings and present themselves to the party. They are surprised to see the party awake and prepared for them. The figures are more Red Brand Bandits. Either they weren't at the base when you wiped it out, or the Bandit leader managed to recruit more.

text map: the party is in their camp which is in a clearing in the triboar trail. There are two cleared paths to exit the clearing. the red brand bandits are blocking both paths. Both group of bandits are ten or more feet away from the party's camp. Gimble moved closer in to the camp and further away from the bandits. RB2 and RB4 are on the eastern edge of the camp in melee range of Casmir.
(OOC: while I did say they were surprised, mechanically they are not surprised.) Gimble fires his hand crossbow at RB3 (OOC: dealing 4 damage), he then tries to throw his dagger and misses. He then moves out of the way so the rest of the party can pass by.

Surprised by the hit, Casmir momentarily loses his temper and points his left hand to the bandit who hurt him, uttering a curse in Infernal. The 4th bandit is briefly engulfed by green flames that disappear as suddenly as they appeared.
(OOC: Casmir uses his Reaction to cast Hellish Rebuke - "You point your finger, and the creature that damaged you is momentarily surrounded by hellish flames. The creature must make a Dexterity saving throw. It takes 2d10 fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one." Damage 14, DC 13).
Recovering his calm, he prays for Tyr to forgive his lapse and to use him as a vessel to fight evil, and to grant His servant His favor.
(OOC: Casmir uses his Action to Channel Divinity: Sacred Weapon - "As an action you can imbue a weapon with positive energy. For 1 minute, the weapon is considered magical, you add +3 to attack rolls, it emits bright light for 20 ft. and dim light for 20 ft beyond that. You can end the effect as part of any other action, if you are no longer holding the weapon, or if you fall unconscious." and uses his Bonus Action to cast Divine Favor - "Your prayer empowers you with divine radiance. Until the spell ends, your weapon attacks deal an extra 1d4 radiant damage on a hit.")
Feeling the power of his god fill him, Casmir grips his shining warhammer and falls into a fighting stance, ready for the battle.
