Not only does the ranger find signs of Carp, he finds Carp...standing beyond the end of the southern tunnel about 30 feet past the last ghoul, Rigel sees the boy! He playfully pokes a stick at what appears to be a stirge circling around Carp's head, seemingly oblivious to the danger surrounding him!
(OOC: the is still one active ghoul remaining, currently attacking Ronk.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ronk yelps a a bit as the ghoul strikes at him, then frowns and counters with the classic combination of spear stab, spear stab, kick at the knee, and a headbutt aimed square at ghoulish face.

Ronk tears the ghoul limb from limb and the cavern falls silent once again, save for the screeching of the stirge flitting around the small halfling child in the chamber to the south
As much as Marcon put up a brave and stubborn front when confronted by the two big guys of the party, even he couldn't help but cringe seeing Ronk literally tear a ghoul limb from limb. But a moment later he's started from staring up and over at the goblinoid at Rigel's yelling. "Carp? Ya found'em?!"Marcon inquired as he took off after Rigel after unlatching his lantern and holding it higher to better see the path.

The boy stopped playing with the stirge for a moment and turned to face towards the ranger. His face went from smiling and giggling to long and sad at Rigel's scolding. The strige on the other hand, kept flitting about the boy's head for several circles, before finally going in for the kill. Those watching looked on in half-horror, half-amazement as the stirge dove for the boy's face, only to see Carp reach up at the last moment, and with one hand, caught the little blood-sucker like a fastball - all without ever taking his eyes off of Rigel.
There was an audible 'smack' as the stirge impacted the boy's hand...followed by an audible 'crunch' as Carp's hand closed slowly around it, snapping tiny bones and bursting open the tiny skull. A grin returned to the boy's face as the strige let out a dying screech, before he dropped it's lifeless body to the ground.
"I came down here to find my daddy," says Carp, to no in particular, "and then me and him are gonna go on a great adventure!" The child then let out a gleeful giggle and skipped away, out of sight into the darkness of the chamber beyond, leaving the party to ponder what they had just witnessed.
Marcon stumbled to a stop seeing the brutality in Carp's action, and could do not be stare in wide-eyed surprise, confusion, and worry at what soon followed it. When eventually he shook his head and got his wits back again, he'd warily look to the others and say, "I... I could be going crazy again in a different direction, but... I don't think was Carp. I think that if the elf Lady ain't, uh... messing with us, there's a bit more goin' on here."He comments on dumbly, prior to then looking to the others.
"But I take it we aughta follow-em all the same, huh? Or ya'll think'n we might've missed something back in that spooks room?"

"It definitely has all the signs of an Isolde trick. We should probably try to catch "him", we can always come back for the room later. Rigel holds his flaming sword up for light and tries to pick up any tracks.
Rigel looks around fairly thoroughly, but can't find another tracks belonging to the boy. The ones he found were those that stopped at the door to the internal structure where they encountered Mormesk...then Rigel suddenly remembered that there was a chest inside that room, one that the wraith seemed rather zealous to protect.
Marcon nodded, but still hadn't seemed all too thrilled about the concept of pursuing the maybe not Carp. Nevertheless, he hooked the lantern back to his belt, and called back to Sildar and the rockseeker brothers, if the trio hadn't been keeping pace/following the party after 'Carp'. "Rockseekers! Sildar! We think, uh... well we found 'a' Carp, 'n 'bout to see if we can get after him in a bit!" He said while Rigel was busy looking for tracks.

Ronk scratches his chin. "Yeah... That boy doesn't seem right. Took me a long time to learn how to catch a bug like that and even still I have issues with it."
Rigel looks over the area where Carp was "playing" with the styrge. "Well that's odd." he mutters. "No tracks." The ranger even gets down on his hands and knees, lowers his ear near the ground and tries to find even the slightest shadow that might hint at a track. Still not finding anything he goes back to the door to the wizards room. Kneeling down he takes a closer look at those tracks. Hold on everyone, I can't seem to find any new tracks. Marcon might be right. Go ahead and check the room Marcon. I'll keep looking out here for more sign."
"Well I hate to be the one to say this outloud," Van says hesitantly, "but if there's a ghost boy running around Carp might already... nope," he shakes his head. "No I'm not thinking about that right now."
Knowing there were at least four ghouls still roaming the complex, and that were about to no longer be under the compulsions of Garet's turning, Nundro and Sildar kept watch at the northern end of the chamber by the stone stairwell.
Gundren paired up with Rigel as he searched the area, but stopped the man from going all the way inside the cavern to the south. "Y'smell that?" He says, putting his nose to the air. "Fungi in the room to the south....poisonous. It's sensitive to movement in the area, if that boy were a boy, he would've set it off..."
Marcon turned back to give Rigel a curt nod and a grateful grin. Though he'd soon be trading that grin in for a scowl at Vanzaren, Gundren's commentary about the state of the next cavern made the ex-farmboy looking shocked for a second, then looking away with brows furrowed in consternation. "... We'll we won't know fer sure 'till we find his body, or... what's left of him at least. And I aim to keep searching for it starting with that spook's room."He asserts, prior to then marching his way back into the ghost room for another look around by torch light.
Though, he isn't looking about for long as the chest almost immediately grabs his attention, and prompts Marcon to head on over to try and open it, heedless of any prospect of triggering traps or some other shenanigan in his fading hope of finding Carp or some genuine clue on his whereabouts.

The scorched lid on the chest creaked and popped as it opened and with each sound, everyone (other than Marcon) agonized over whether it was the sound of a trap being triggered or simply "old chest lid", as it was often to referred to by retired adventurers that hung around in taverns, pitching their stories to anyone who would listen.
It would seem it was the latter as Marcon pried the box lid open to full extension. Inside he finds 1,100 cp, 160 sp, 50 ep, three diamonds (100 gp each), and a wooden pipe adorned with platinum filigree (150 gp). A handful of exceptionally preserved tomes are resting along some small shelves along the inner walls at either end of the chest.
Marcon clicks his tongue, and tightened his grip on the chest lid as if preparing to slam it back closed again. Yet instead after a tense moment of glaring at the contents, he breathes a sigh of defeat, before bracing a shoulder(if needed) against the open lid while reaching inside to grab the tomes. "No Carp and No body, but did find some Tomes. Not sure if any of it has clues on the poor little fella, but some of ya more learned folk might wanna have a go at'em."He said or called out as needed, and readily offered what tomes he'd grab for others to take off his hands.

As Ronk is unleashing his vengeance on the final ghoul, Rigel sprints towards Carp ready to slay the stirge.
"Carp! Leave that be and get over here son! It's time to go home." Rigel calls out.
