Kasha and Obsidian returned home that evening. She was giggling and Obsidian was close behind her, wearing a purple bow. He didn't look very happy. "I don't know why you're so grumpy, you licking yourself, sometimes, isn't good enough to get clean. Look at how handsome you look! I should take you to get groomed more often."Obsidian gave her a look. "Yes, I know I hate water, and you're not too fond of it either."She looked at him for a moment. "Gosh, you have such a personality. Come on, let's go eat. It's been over twenty minutes."
She looked around the kitchen. "Gosh, i'm hungry. Don't we have, like, a waiter around here, or something?"Obsidian leapt on the counter, looking around. Once they got some food, Kasha went over to the bookcase and looked around. "Where's all the coloring books? I'm not ready for these harder words. Let's see."she looked. "No. Nerp. Nein. Nay. Oh hail naw. Oh! This one. Perfect."she looked at the book, smiled. "Come on."They both went to her room.
She plopped on the bed. Obsidian curled up next to her. She opened the book. She puffed out some air, as if the task of reading was difficult. Which it was. "Hop..on pop. Stop. We do NOT..hop. On pop."she showed Obsidian the pages. He looked. "See?"Kasha said. "Don't hop on pop, dude. That's good advice, actually."
She kept reading aloud, and eventually both her and Obsidian fell asleep.
"Not a waiter, but certainly plenty of other servants for sure."Courage said as he perched upon a sturdy stool, and eyes practically glued upon the cooking flames of a cauldron. "Dinner should be ready in a few hours. But, if you're looking for a snack, I did make a few baked treats earlier." He said, gesturing to a plate on the table with snickerdoodles and other various types of cookies laden upon it. "And there should be plenty in cold storage for sandwhich."He adds.
Unless engaged further Courage eventually starts mumbling to himself a little about the pros and cons of certain temperatures and whether it was a good idea to add that extra pinch of salt to whatever broth he had going at the moment.

Alys would beam, hooking her arm with Vastra’s in excitement when she’d lead the way to the nearest spa.
Once they arrived, Alys would dig out a light blue strapless band hipster bikini from the furthest reaches of her bag of holding. She’d change into it. Instead of using a provided housecoat, the elf would cover herself with the comfort of her cloak, snuggling into the softness of the fur. She’d be diligent, making sure to whisk herself dry with her magic before putting it back on any time she got wet.
Alys would rock up and down on the balls of her feet, hands held in front of her. When Vastra was ready, she’d grab her hand and tug her off. “Bath, sauna, pool, snack, drink, relax in the sun, full salt body scrub and wrap. Massage, aromatherapy ice sauna show, another dip and a snack by the fire!” The young elf would excitedly rhyme off her thoughts for their itinerary as she tugged her mentor along.
Yvan tilts his head when Courage speaks at first, then turns his gaze on the baked goods the tiefling pointed to with interest. With him being so absorbed with the cauldron, the goliath decides to not bother him any further, and takes a few cookies on his way out. He didn't exactly have a sweet tooth like some of the others, but the cookies were pretty damn good.
He returns to where Stella is and lifts his hand up with two cookies for her. "Want some?"

Vastra changes into a blue one-piece and heads to the baths with Alys. The water is quite warm and there is a tray of cheeses and meats near the pool. "Hmm, I don't think that I've ever seen you in a bikini before, Alys. Have you always had that?"

Alys tests the water with her toes first before dropping her cloak. When Vastra would speak up about her bikini, the elf would look down at herself. She realized this was the most skin she’s exposed to anyone on the team since the ball. The elf’s skin was pale, but smooth. Her chest was modest, her stomach flat, waist cinched with curvier hips and a round bum that carried a little extra squish from her extra snacks. Her face would flush a bit as her blue hues would find Vastra. Alys admired her in her one piece as she’d lower herself into the bath. She’d give a shy smile. “I keep one for just in case... I bought this one when Stella took us shopping in case we ever went to the beach or something together... I thought that maybe Y-“ Alys would pause herself, feeling the heat in her cheeks grow. “I thought it was cute...” She’d hastily grab a snack from the tray to put in her mouth.
"Don't worry," Yvan wiggles the broom and dustpan combo for her to see. "I'll sweep the crumbs up. Enjoy them." He urges, finishing up one last cookie before getting to sweeping the area of flour and of cookie crumbs, had she indulged herself.

Alys’ smile would beam towards Vastra as she’d start her sentence, then when she’d finish it, filling in what the young elf left out, she’d clap her hands onto her cheeks, blushing fully.
"I know..." Alys would shimmy herself closer to Vastra, lightly cuddling against her. "I'm not embarrassed about him..." A shy smile would tug at her lips. She found Yvan's nervousness really sweet actually. The elf would reach for another helping of a snack to nibble on. She just found every time she thought about him, shed get flush. Any time she talked about him, she got butterflies. "I just think about him... a lot more..." She'd confess with bright pink cheeks, going back to her bite.
Alys would tuck her legs in and look up at Vastra. "Do you think about any one Vastra?"
Kasha was woken up in the middle of the night by a loud magical jingle. It was more in her head than outside it, and it sounded like a summons. She groaned and turned over in bed, nearly squishing Obsidian, who also woke up at the sound. She recognized it.
"Oh great."Kasha grumbled. "It's mother."
Obsidian looked at her lazily and went back to sleep.
"Come on."she moaned, unwillingly, but getting up. "I gotta go. Wanna come?"
Obsidian sighed, but slowly got up and followed her out of her room. She kneeled down, allowing him to climb up on her, and she turned in a fairly large eagle. Obsidian held on, and they both flew off into the night.
In some distant corner on the edge of civilization, at the village Kasha grew up, she transformed back into a half elf and let Obsidian drop down beside her. She took a moment to look at the burnt ruins of her village where she stood there silently with a somber expression on her face. She took a moment to return to her home and, in her own way, quietly, mourned for her father. She said nothing, and Obsidian waited patiently until Kasha opened her eyes and moved again, away from the destroyed home. She looked towards the forest. "Ok. Let's get this over with. Mother gets upset if we keep her waiting."
With a wave of her hand, a green portal opened deep in the forest, and on the other side was a strange dimension of nature. Magical, immense, eternal, and untouched by mortals, it was a land of the fae, older than Kasha could understand. Her and Obsidian stepped through. Like each and every time she did, being in the Fae realm transformed Kasha into her true form, a sort of elven creature that definitely resembled her, but taller, with branch like horns, magical long dark wavy hair and the same green eyes. She turned to make sure Obsidian made it through, but when she saw him, she gasped loudly in pure surprise, and startled.
For a split second, Obsidian was no longer a cat.
Where the cat once was, a man stumbled to the ground clumsily - as if the act of walking on two legs was something he wasn't used to. In the briefest amount of time, she caught his appearance. He was dark haired with some white, blue eyes wide in shock, and with elven ears. He was ragged, thin, wearing ruined black professional clothing, and had a long beard, as if he was some sort of prisoner to..something. Or someone.
Just as soon as it had happened, it was over, and Obsidian was a cat again. Kasha stared at the cat for a long while, trying to process what she had just seen. A magical trick? Obsidian shook his head as if trying to recover from a dizzy spell. He looked at her with a look that at the same time was so intent and filled with words he couldn't express, it made her heart pound with worry, curiosity, and...affection...?
"What just happened to you..?"Kasha breathed, her mind unable to process what was happening. "Are you..?"
Her mother answered.
He is more than what he is. The entity he was originally bound to is dying. Kasha waited, listening. "..And?? Mother??" This realm, somehow, breaks the tether. You shall see. But, again, it is inconsequential. You are destined for greater things. Love is trivial. A mortal inconvenience. Do not allow yourself to be distracted. "Love is inconsequential?! You may think so, Mother!"she cried out. "I am not a god! Nor will I live forever. You can thank Father for that. YOU mated with him, and had me! Did you love him? Did you not consider that I might have a different opinion on those emotions? That I might not WANT to be part of you PLAN!? What is he?!"she demanded. "A punished soul. Once a mortal, now a magical familiar."
"Not really. I'm only 175, so the thought of settling down with anyone hasn't particularly occurred to me quite yet. Although I do find Stella rather attractive." She adds in. "Have you ever thought about telling him how you feel?"

Alys would tilt her head a little when she'd mention settling down with someone. She hadn't particularly expected the thought on the long term. The elf would smile warmly at Vastra when she'd mention Stella was attractive. "And strong. And compassionate." She'd nod in agreement. "She's been so good with uplifting everyone, especially Yvan and I when we weren't our most confident." There was admiration and appreciation behind her eyes for Stella as she'd look up at Vastra.
Of course Alys' cheeks would immediately flush back a deep crimson when she'd add the last part. "We've talked a little..." She'd nod softly, a hand finding her stomach when she'd feel the butterflies kick up. "Learning to navigate those feelings together a little at a time..." The elf's head would dip a little shyly, though her lips would tug tighter causing her dimple to dig into her cheek.
"Have you thought about it?" Alys would return the question.
"Not particularly, since I'd have to emphasize that the arrangement would be for the long haul. And I'm not sure if she's interested in such an arrangement."

Alys would giggle. "That's kinda thinking about it." She'd smile warmly before nodding. "That's very amirable Vastra." Inspired by her mentors words, the young elf would sit back and actually allow herself to indulge the thoughts. The young elf would fall silent for a bit. Her eyes would hover over her cloak, tracing over the details of the clasp. "I think I'd enjoy spending a lifetime with Yvan..." Hearing herself say the words out loud her arms would wrap around herself as if trying to contain nervous butterflies.
When Kasha returned back home, she was sour with the conversation she had with her mother. She did her best to forget it. Stupid godlike plans. She just didn't get it. Kasha wanted no part of it. The only one she wanted to do, and was, in fact, doing, was watching over the new Acheronian child. That one she promised to do. But the other cosmic tasks? No. She didn't want to be a part of any of that anymore. She enjoyed the life she had, and wanted to keep doing THAT, not what her mother wanted. No ma, and would. No matter how hard her mother tried to get Kasha to understand, Kasha would not. Especially after the cold revelation that the only reason they had her was not for love, no. It was not for love, but for some other divine purpose. She was a cog in a plan. A playing piece in a game.
So you're telling me, you didn't love my dad? No. Do you love me? Child. You are a fae. Your destiny lies with us. We are beyond such trivial emotions.
And there it was.
So when Kasha returned home, she went in through the window because she didn't want to talk to anyone, or have anyone see her upset. First your father is dead, and now your mother finally admits she had you for no other reason than to be used. Obsidian padded up next to her, a concerned look on his face.
"And YOU."she said at the cat. "What's YOUR story!? Back there?? What was THAT all about?!"she was nearly at tears. Frustrated. Confused. Unloved. "Was that some sort of trick? Is your friendship, your companionship..is that fake, too?"
Obsidian looked up at her. She could tell he wanted to say something, but couldn't. He was a cat. So he didn't. "Well?!"she yelled, hurt. Obsidian was trying to figure out what was going on back in the forest as well, so when Kasha was angry, or frustrated, he didn't take it personal. It looked like he wanted to answer, but again. He was a cat.
"Get out!"she shouted, pointing to the door. He lowered his head and slowly padded outside the room. He took one last look behind him, but Kasha was already on the bed, crying softly to herself.
