Yvan was ready to take that devastating hit. When he noticed the creature quickly make itself towards them, he was going to push Alys out of the way to avoid her getting any collateral damage, or even if the thing wanted to change targets last minute. But even with haste in effect, she was quicker than he was.
He hadn't anticipated Alys' sudden movements into him, using her body to prevent the strike that was meant for him from meeting his flesh. Green hues widen in shock and fear as he sees the spike jab right into the wizards shield, so certain that it would simply shatter and continue into her back, but thankfully it didn't.
The creature's attacks wouldn't end there, however, and as soon as he saw the enemy rear up for another strike, Yvan uses his free arm to wrap and tighten around Alys' waist, using momentum to turn them both and have his body, this time, act as a shield. A pained hiss escapes him when the creatures spiked appendage jabs right into his shoulder blade, blood immediately soaking through his cloak once the spike had been retracted.
When it looked to be the end of the enemies attacks, he leans back and looks down at the wizard to check to see if she was okay. His eyes were still wide, the move having taken him completely and utterly by surprise. There were so many things he wanted to say to her in that moment, but he opts to shut up and press a hard kiss against her lips, pouring as much passion as he could into it before pulling away and breathlessly saying, "Thank you."
Needing to get into the fight, he releases his grip on Alys and quietly tells her to be careful prior to unsheathing his flamed blade and raging.

"No! No hugs for you! Back you beast!" Courage growled and punctuated his points with several shoves of his shield to knock his would be grappler away from him. "Hope you brought your rubber suits, ya bloody beast! 'cause its time to Ride the Lightning!"He adds, repositioning a little and pulling some hidden lever or switch in his shield. Almost immediately, the center plates slide apart, and the head of what looks like some sort of jagged rod pokes its way out.
Sparks dance across its surface and quickly grow in number until they collect into a ball at the tip. Flipping another lever releases the collected energy as blue bolt of just barely contained energy into the many nightmares gathered about the room.

Alys knew from her vision that she couldn’t deflect all the damage from Yvan, but at least she was able to for the worst of it. Feeling his arm wrap protectively around her, she’d cling on to him for the turn. Blue hues would peek up to him with concern when she’d hear him hiss in pain. She was about to begin inspecting the wound that soaked his cloak in blood when his expression locked her into his gaze.
It was not what Alys expected, but she whole heartedly welcomed and returned it when Yvan leant in for a kiss. She’d coo against his lips, feeling herself immediately melt into his display of affections. He poured unsaid words through his actions, sweeping her up in a another moment special to them.
“Be swift... be safe...” The words whispered from her lips in response when he’d unsheathe his blade to head into the fray.
Alys stood breathless, bringing her hand to her lips, still feeling the warmth left behind from Yvan’s passionate kiss. A barely audible mew would leave her as she’d try to catch her breath, heart pounding against her chest, bursting in a range of intense emotions of appreciative adoration.
Caught in her reverie, the elf had been watching her protector take off into battle when one of their foes would take the opportunity to strike against her. Two perfectly placed attacks, one particularly critical strike, found a vulnerable opening in her armour. An eruption of fire would spark as the enemy sunk his blades deep into her side. The cleric let out a sickening cry of pain in her surprise, doubling over.

Even with Courage taking care of the culprit who hurt Alys as badly as it did, all the goliath sees is red, lashing out at the enemy who managed to damage the tiefling through his armor with a mighty roar.

Alys had brought the potion to her lips and downed it. Blinking away the stars, blue hues would scan the battlefield, assessing everyone's wounds. Taking some steps to Stella, the elf would reach out and place a gentle hand against one of her arm. She'd sing a gentle hymn beneath her breath to call upon her magic to mend some of the rogue's wounds.
Courage keeps the targe prominently between himself and the nightmare with eyes wide and attention sharp from the surge of pain. He winces though after a few moments, and lowered the shield. But the moment creature thinks it to be the time to strike, the tiefling suddenly rushes forth, capitalizing on whatever guard been opened on the beasts part to strike hard and fast with his guantlets.
Hopefully off-balancing the creature, if not slaying it outright in the end, Courage takes the moment to deploy from his shield a discus that hovers above Alys, producing a faint hum as it flits about the air.

There’s only one embrace Alys would welcome with such force, and it wouldn’t be from a savage Lost. Although it came with a strong grip, the elf slipped through once again!
Blue hues would scan the battlefield to calculate her decision. Lifting a hand, she’d fire off a fiery pot shot towards Lost 3 prior to whispering words of thanks to Courage for his tactics shared in her defence.
