"I was just about to ask that myself. Ireena, what does Strahd want with you, do you know? Does he want you to be his bride? Because if so, Ismark, that would make you...the brother... The Executioner."
(OOC: I think I thought the was a clue in the 'not having fed' bit, but then realised later that I'd specifically asked what he'd been feeding on, and it was an answer to my direct question! lol My bad)
Ireena, "I don't know what he wants. I've seen him, twice I think...but..both times the memories are foggy...all I can remember are his eyes....dark...hungry...."
Ismark, "I will be his executioner, that is for certain."
Donavich looks to the group, "The lesser? Indeed....people here call Ismark, Ismark the Lesser."
Ismark frowns, "I do not like that name."
Donavich, "Regardless, it is what town folk call you. You have lived in the shadow of your father your whole life. Until now it would seem."

Kane rejoins his companions. “We should not tarry here. The longer we wait the greater the chance Strahd will learn of our intentions and ambush us on the road. That is, if there is nothing we can do for your son before we depart.” He addresses this last sentence to Donavich.
Olin looks to Ismark, "It seems it wasn't mere chance that brought us together. When Madame Eva read our fortunes she said you would help us, if you are 'the lesser' as Donovich says. Do you have a sister? She says also that the one to help us is the 'brother of the devil's bride.'"
Nodding to Kane, "I agree that we should not spend time here unnecessarily, but we brought Ireena's father here to bury, which must be done at dawn. We may hurry many things but the dawn is not among them."
Glancing at Donovich, "I understand love and devotion to family, but if your son has died and been brought into undeath by the devil, there is no help for him. In all the magic I have seen as a cleric of nature the only way I know to bring him back would be to dispatch this form and use strong magic to resurrect him truly. Magic out of reach to all but the strongest clerics and druids. Leaving him in this in-between state is unnatural... and cruel."Olin shakes his head sadly. "We can put an end to his suffering, if you have not the heart to do it yourself."
Ismark nods, "Well, Kolyan was my father. Until tonight, Ireena was my sister. Sorry I was coy with you at the tavern. She still is my sister, even if adopted." He gives her arm a squeeze. "As for her being a bride...over my dead body....but I'm afraid Strahd does seem to have some evil intent for her. I must say that saying he wishes to make her his bride...is creepy and strange, but also...feels somehow right."
Ireena shivers, looking worried and confused.
Aga watches the conversation unfold silently, observing all.
Donovich looks aghast and slightly crazy, "No....no...the Morninglord will find a way, he will find a way for me, this is not your concern, my son will recover..he will!"

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Mordekai casts Guidance on himself, and says, "If what Olin says is true, and I have found him to be knowledgeable and wise, then your son will not simply... recover. If the only way to aid him is to destroy this curse in his body, and resurrect him using strong magic, that magic will be powerful enough to bring him back after some time. Why put him through this torment while you find someone powerful enough to help? What if you never find someone who can help? Would you have him suffer this darkness forever? Why not put him to rest and out of his torment for now, and we can help you find someone who might be able to help."
Meepo stomps his foot. Clearly the bigs are not paying attention to him. "Know ravens? Tree? Ancients resting?" Meepo says, trying again to ask his question, but a bit more hard to understand from his upset at his first attempt being ignored.
Donovich ignores Meepo, just staring aghast at Mordekai. He seems....convinced, but...there's a bit of a unhinged glint in his eyes, and he quickly shuts his eyes and shakes his head, "Maybe for most, but the Morninglord has brought him to me for a purpose, and he will show me a way...you will not kill him!"

"Well, it's your decision. Perhaps the Morninglord brought him to you because you'd have the inner strength to ensure that he wouldn't be roaming wild biting and killing other people? But if you'd rather have Strahd's evil consuming the reanimated corpse of your son, living an undeath locked in the basement of your church and keeping your congregation away, that's up to you.
Let's change the subject. Do you know of any places where ravens live? Or the location of a possibly evil tree, growing among some ancient graves?" Mordekai gives Meepo an apologetic shrug.
Donovich relaxes physically, given the escape from the conversation about his son, and sits down on a recently repaired pew...looking...exhausted. He shakes his head, running his hand through what remains of his balding hair, "no...no...that makes no sense to me..."

Meepo, seemingly ignored walks over to one of the doors and pushes it open. Time and neglect have punched holes in the ceiling of this moldy room, which contains a few broken roof shingles amid puddles of water. In one corner, set into the floor, is a heavy wooden trapdoor held shut with a chain and a padlock. A young man's screams of anguish can be heard through the door. Donavich yells from the main chapel, seemingly finally paying attention to Meepo, "HEY! NO! Don't go in there!!"

Donovich loses interest when Meepo moves away from that room, and goes into the next room. He pushes open the next room and walks inside. No ones seems to pay Meepo much attention as he wanders around, and you're alone in the room. An old desk and chair stand against the south wall, a wooden holy symbol mounted above them-a sunburst. A ten-foot-long iron rod attached to the north wall stands bare, suggesting a tapestry once hung there. Against the far wall stands a wooden cabinet with four tall doors. On the chair sits a box with a slit in the top, that appears to be able to be hung up. It's top is flipped open and it's empty inside. He absently pulls drawers open and cabinets open. He spots a few sheets of blank parchment, a couple quill pens, a small sealed jar of ink. Inside the cabinet he spots a tinderbox, a couple boxes of candles, two books that are in common, Hymns to the dawn and The Blade of Truth: The uses of Logic in the war against Diabolist Heresies. Nothing else of interest is in the room.

Meepo is disappointed to find what is probably father Donovich's bedroom, which is as sparse and boring as they come. There is nothing of interest in the last room except the lamp by the bedside and the holy symbol above the bed shaped like a sun. Is the group waiting through the night to bury the Burgomaster in the morning, or heading off immediately?
Mordekai finds a recently mended pew and settles himself as comfortably as possible on what he's sure is designed to be deliberately uncomfortable to prevent a congregating from falling asleep!
"As Olin says, it seems we're waiting on the dawn. Whatever the night may bring. Best make the most of the downtime now."
Kane does not argue further. He can see that the burial at dawn holds either practical or religious significance, and he is not one to break ancient customs. He settles down with his capotain pulled down low, over his eyes. “Father Donovich does not appear to be an immediate threat, but all the same I suggest we set up a watch.” He whispers to the others.
It is somewhat surprising how little it takes to make someone feel insane. A lack of sleep, a constant recurring adrenalin spiking noise, a stressful uncomfortable environment. The more analytic of the group have determined that Doru, the cursed creature under the church, screams once every 35 seconds, with a random variant of 10 seconds in either direction. You can't conceive of thinking that a family member was making the noise. And you can't conceive of having lived with that noise for weeks on end. You are now all deeply impressed with how sane Donavich seems. It's 1am and the only people sleeping are Aga and Donavich. Donavich seems to wake regularly and his sleep is not fitful. Aga is out cold, snoring lightly throughout the screams somehow.
The rest of you lay awake in the darkness, unable to drown out the screams that always seem to surprise you when the erupt with their unpredictable pattern. You can tell that each other are awake by the sounds of breathing, the frequent moving and repositioning and the sighs that issue regularly after screams. It should be dawn in a few short hours, and you don't predict that much sleep will be had.
Ireena and Ismark are part of the restless group, with Ireena having covered her head in a blanket and Ismark laying, flat as a board on his back, his eyes staring up at the rafters above.
"AAAAAAAHHHHH---CCKKLLLL".
