Elias fallows the group inside and tries to pierce the gloom.

Kharnyl, on becoming aware of the wolves in the cave enquires of the captive goblins: "You didn't mention you had pets. They sound hungry. Tell us, what do you feed them?" His expression turning from a mockery of delighted gregariousness to overt hostility at the question.

Intimidation: 15

"Goblin 3, why don't you tell them beasties to settle down..."  Gotch tells the goblin he knows the name of.  "Otherwise we might need to make sure you are the first ones the wolves get a bite out of..."

(Gives advantage on the previous intimidation check...)

If given the opportunity, Loraviel will try to calm the wolves down. (Animal Handling: 7)

Rhogar reaches into this rations pulling out the jerky and tossing it to the wolves without a second thought. 

The goblin rolls a 15 to calm the wolves.

The wolves are calmed.

"I think we should proceed before these animals start to draw the attention of the goblins." Kharnyl says noting the fissure at the end of the cavern. 

"Lead on..." Gotch says, waiting for someone to be first, then following after.

While the others are exploring the wolves’ cave, Loraviel sits down with crossed legs, and starts to meditate. (Ritual cast Speak with Animals). “Hello there, how many masters do you have here?” Loraviel asks the wolves

"We not know, we saw about a dozen, please free us please please!"

Gotch will keep a wary eye on the wolves.  He figures they might be ok with him, since he is a goblin, but doesn't want to test that idea if he can help it.

Listening to the beasts' pleas. "Ohhh poor thing!!! I shall release you!!" Loraviel says in common, and tries to release the iron rod driven into the base of the stalagmite. (Strength: 13)

"Any nasty little surprises through here? Kharnyl asks both goblin POWs, gesturing  toward the fissure "How about you take the lead? I'll be right behind you?" Holding his hammer with both hands in an ambiguously threatening way, his body language and facial expression make it clear this is a rhetorical question.  Still, unsure that goblins will grasp such subtlety, he feints as if lunge at them in an effort to encourage them to get moving, barking the command, "Go on!" 

"No! We cannot climb up the rocky thingy! Please don't make us do it!"

Loraviel tugs at the chains but they only budge slightly.

With a tear coming down her cheek. “If anyone could help. The wolves wish to be free. To go back to the forest, where they belong.” Loraviel begs her companions for help.

Elias looks warily at the wolf. 

"Are you sure you want to free them ?" 

“They asked me to free them. I believe them!! They would not lie to me.” Loraviel believes the wolves like an adult would believe a child.
