Adray successfully eliminated another crab but two more remained. What is worse, behind the procession, appeared familiar shape of the spined devil, hissing and cursing at the beasts in front of him in Infernal.
That was the point when Lulu joined the battle with her triumphant trumpeting: 28. (Devil save: 11 , crab 5: 8 , crab 6: 4 )
The sound - clean, very loud in this corridors yet somehow not disturbing but encouraging filled the catacombs. The devil simply dropped from the air and turned to dust, one of the crab died on spot, but the last one surprisingly survived and slowly crept on Ordrag, trying to finish the last mission of his life: Attack: 13 Damage: 5
Ordrag felt that pinching and now had a giant crab hanging from his arm (grappled)
Hmmm, I'm not sure how I ended up back where I am, thought I was up where Fran is marked standing now. Doesn't look like Choir has a reach to the crab from here, she will rest on her laurels and see if anyone looks like they need help.

(Oh! end of initiative might be Fran’s cue!)
The artificer would follow up Adray’s attack with some ‘fresh’ pair of daggers. Well, she wiped them off a little. Reserving the 3rd one. Releasing it only if she needed it.
The last crab dropped down with a loud thud and by the contrast silence felt particularly heavy. After a few moments Acolyte Pherria Jynks - the woman with the book, that Choir, Fran and Adray now could see and recognize (none other than Tome of the Creed Resolute - the one that bound their souls, as well a souls of every Elturean, to Zariel) - the Acolyte dared to look from behind the corner. "Are they dead?" It was more of a caution than fear, people here saw it all, really, but were still fighting.
"Can we make a run for it? Not sure where, but once devils found their way here, they will not stop. Probably we can barricade a house or two outside." You saw for yourself on the way here that there is no such thing as "safe" anywhere in Elturel anymore, including the High Halls. People might as well search shelter in some mansions around. Harkina immediately run to check on children, while dwarves, placed Velcora's scorched remains by the "Unknown Woman" - the only pure place in Catacombs and were quietly praying near by.
Agitated Lulu was torn between pride of the victory over at least two enemies and the sadness of the present situation - with dead allies and so many people still in danger.
The druid managed to create a handful of Goodberries (looking surprised at his accomplishments) and now was offering them to the most wounded to at least sustain them for a while.
"If you still want to search for Grand Duke Ravengard, I'll show you the way to the Cemetery", added Acolyte Pherria, "but we need to go."
Choir nods, but points at the book. "All persons bound by oath to defend Elturel are also considered forfeit....Thavius Kreeg, High Observer of Elturel, have sworn to my master, Zariel. Burn," she says worriedly. "Destroy.Feed it to the pigs."

Safety in numbers, thinks Ordrag. Divided, the people have even less chance of survival, so finding the Duke and his warriors seemed like a sensible plan. The cathedral is probably still the most defensible structure in the city, but perhaps somewhere less conspicuous might be safer. And it might be impossible to transport so many people somewhere new without being seen. And what if the Duke returned, how would he know where they had gone? So many questions, and Ordrag was accustomed to following orders, not making decisions. And he needed to rest.
What's up those stairs? he asks Perria, referring to the spiral stairs ascending from the cathedral. Can we get a view of the city and find a better place to hide these folks?

Polly walk up to those making a plan and listen for a while. “We should think of a place where we can rest first. The kids must be terrified, I’m out of magic and some of us are injured.” “Is there anywhere we can set camp?”
"What?!" Pherria clutched the huge tome even tighter and slightly turned to protect from kenku. "This is all that keeps us together, reminds us, who we are. We are the sworn protectors of Elturel and this is what we should do!"
She shook her head as if not even believing they are heaving this conversation. Pherria turned to Ordrag: "Up there is the choir level, not much space with the organ and the benches for singers. But there is a big mansion near by - we can try to barricade there. May be devils will believe they got everyone from here?"
If the locals already have a retreat location in mind, then there is a good chance the duke will know of it too. Better to escort everyone there now, rest and wait for the duke, and then if he doesn't show we can take a search party to find him. It's a plan that ticks all the boxes for Ordrag, and he suggests it to the group.
(If they go out the front door though, he will still want to take the time to grab that plate armour off the dead guard)

Fran will scan the group. Some are looking a little rougher than others, and others exhausted of most of their resources. Reviewing herself, she's pretty much in tip top shape. Though, the artificer would not argue against a rest. She still had some tinkering and tweaking to do. But until they can get somewhere safer to rest, Fran will pipe up as she'd collect her last round of daggers. "Aye. Teh most wounded, or children can git a ride on Brutus teh help speed things up." She'd jerk her jaw in the direction of her attentive defender. He had spent enough time on the front line today and she'd rather keep him back to protect the weak and the children.
"An' who needs a mendin'?" Once her blades were tucked back into her leathers her hands would move to her medkit. It was still pretty fully equipped (9/10), but while thinking about it she'd look up to one of the dwarves, "Any spare supplies worth grabbin' before we go?" The redhead will assess the group as she inquired, trying to keep efficiency at its maximum. Her eyes will also bounce around for anything else worth scavenging out of her before they left. She remembered supplies could get scarce.
(Depending on who and how much they were wounded, Fran can use a mix of her medkit and/or cure wounds to heal anyone, including npcs if it's viable. I have 1 spell slot used.)
There were injured, of course, and the first one - half burned dwarf that got caught in the hellhound fire with Brutus and now dead Velcora. He was quiet (understandably so, considering the death of the friend) but grateful to Fran for the healing. (1 use of the Healing kit) Cuts and bruisers from the attack of the bandits (more serious wounds were too deadly and those who got them, passed away already) were treated by the people in the crowd and everyone was ready and eager to leave the place. As defendable as it seemed, with huge broken windows and constant lightnings, destroying that tallest building in the city, not to mention with defenders gone and devils ready to attack - it did not feel quite safe anymore.
Pherria led the way to one of the abandoned mansion in the rich quarters of the city. The owner was the one who died in the last attack, loudly regretting leaving his house for the false safety of the High Halls. When the huge group of refugees left the Cathedral and was on the way to the mansion, acolyte pointed at the ten-foot-high brass fence that once surrounded Elturel’s cemetery, but now has fallen in numerous places, with it's a wide gate, allowing access to the grounds, being torn from its hinges. "The cemetery," she said, "Duke revengard went there. We expected him back hours ago. I am terrified at the thought what could have happen to him".
"He was not only investigating undead - the Duke was hoping that a holy relic in the cemetery chapel called the Helm of Torm’s Sight might provide some awareness into Elturel’s dire circumstances and possible salvation. But now... I am truly afraid every hope is lost." She hold the Tome even tighter, as if finding strength in it's weight, and resumed her pace.
(Ordrag can consider himself getting full plate - no one will object it now)
Choir is certain that book needs to be destroyed, but it seems unlikely she could sneak it away, with Pherria keeping a deathgrip on it. She will have to spend some time assembling words to try to convince the Elturian that it is NOT some sacred tome that will save them, but the source of their damnation. Checking up on Duke Revengard seems more urgent, though. She looks at the cemetery, and wonders about that possible relic...
She leaves the mace with Adray for now...he is more often on the front lines. She will poke around and see if there are any other weapons she can pick up.
