How does a red dragon blow out the candles on its birthday cake?
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Polly's plan worked to some degree - madcaps do not need much to be provoked, and any kind of thinking was obviously too much to ask from them, so, the moment one decided little wizards words are worth to consider, he punched the closest Redcap with "Did you call me smart?!" and got the expected answer "wha?! You think you are smarter than me?!". The group battle was ensured and begun right away to much enjoiment of Pins and Needles, that were even hopping on place with excitement.
Wazzik, on the other hand, was lost completely and saw only one target - Ordrag.
The idea of changing tactic did not cross his mind (yet) and he swung his wicked sickle again:
Attack: 13 Damage: 10
Attack: 14 Damage: 8
Attack: 8 Damage: 10
when Adray intercepted ( MC dex save 7 ) and dropped little pest to the ground. Wazzik was swearing a squirming but still alive. In the yard the phrase "all hell broke loose" was never so true. Barnabas said something impossible to hear with all that noise and floated toward the main building.
The artificer would accompany Polly's comment with a shrug of her own. She'd wait for the mage to move to a safer distance before she'd shift into a battle stance.
Initiative: 11
Fran still wasn't 100% sure who all were foes here. She was a bit at a loss as to how best to follow Adray's orders and support Ordrag.
Situational ready actions to present to the DM:
1. Should she count three threats including the Wazzik, she'd decide to reach for a component. Testing the weight of the fatty substance in her hand, the redhead would lob it onto the battlefield, causing it to explode and spatter on the ground on impact.
Casting: Grease in the most efficient space that could catch their foe(s) and not hinder or threaten any of her friends movement/space. Dex DC 14 or be knocked prone.
2. Should it just be Wazzik, Fran would fan out three daggers between her fingers, one of them being Lucy. She'd release them on Madcap just before she whistles for Brutus to take up position next to the boys in meelee.
(Correct me if that's incorrect!) (Question: Lucy has the returning feature, does that include another attack upon return? I briefly remember that being mentioned in a thread when I was investigating Battle Smiths a long time ago. But I don't know if that's actually true, as I don't get the impression from the description. Just that the dagger returns. And if it did attack, would that use up BA? Thus basically just sparing a dagger each attack if so? I just imagine 4 dagger attacks could be too much? Sorry for being a pest.)
Should situation #1 be the case, Brutus would attack: Attack: 16 Damage: 9
Situation #2: BA not available for his attack, so he will simply be present.
For attacks against Ordrag: Deflect Attack. The defender imposes disadvantage on the attack roll of one creature it can see that is within 5 feet of it, provided the attack roll is against a creature other than the defender.
Polly will hold her action (Can she do that?) for as long as possible, still hoping that the pitiful deception could turn the tide... But if/when that is apparent it is not working she casts Fire Bolt at Wazzik as he seems to be the main antagonist...
Plan working or not, Polly will Fire Bolt Wazzink once she sees the party ganging up on him...
The immediate danger is Wazzik, the rest is a mad brawl that can affect anyone around but targetless, only due to proximity (all-bar fight). So, situation 2?
In that case (no, returning feature is just that - returning) all three daggers surprisingly hit the small moving target before Adray even had a chance to deliver his series of blow. When Adray's final powerful stroke hit Wazzik, the angry menacing blob of hatred, burst into flames, instantly burning himself, his black soaked hat, and his pants to ashes, with only his ugly weapon and smoldering iron boots left behind. (If Polly wanted to add something to the pile - that would be well masked by the natural combustion now)
Both ravens made an exciting sounds and flew a bit higher, probably to have a better view of the battleground. Wazzik's disappearance did not stop the mad fighting - Redcaps and Madcaps were jumping and swinging weapons as if they truly decided to exterminate one another.
That was the moment when Barnabas returned with Mad Maggie herself. The old hag watched for a few seconds the insane chaos, threatening to swallow even her, and suddenly clapped her hands. High-pitched more sensed than heard noise rolled over the yard and the brawl stopped. "Enough!" scary looking grandmother now looked just scary. Apparently, even to "caps" as they obediently lowered their weapons and slowly walked away (after a few steps, though, taking pace and beginning to swear and clap each other as usual).
"Grandmother" tilted her head looking at the remaining picture - beaten up Ordrag, remains of a Madcap, clear signs of the battle - and then smiled (both ravens already returned to her shoulders as if nothing happened). "I see you are making yourself at home. All preparations are done, dears, are you ready to begin?"
"Home?" Polly asks softly. "No. This is not home. Home is green and growing and smell of fresh flowers and birdsong and life and joy and happiness. Maybe they are all so angry all the time because they don't know that?"
Relieved not to have had to thunderize the Madcaps, Choir glares at the ravens. "Troublesome, draggle-feathered, useless bird brain," she mutters in their direction. She had never expected Brother Jervis's words to be useful to her.
She nods at Polly's words. Not that she totally shared the same thought--home was the freedom of the sky...or would be, some day when she could fly.

Fran would suck air in though her teeth with a hint of a nervous look. She had not expected to react so quickly or for the madcap to burst into flames so easily for some reason. The artificer even considered apologizing, but only for a moment. It was hell after all. And what's done is done. If she could retrieve her non returnable daggers, she would.
When Maggie would present them with their choice, she'd look up to sweet Lulu. "Are yeh ready?" She'd ask softly and with some hesitation. The artificer would follow when the Hollyphant was ready.
Ordrag was glad the fight was over - typically, the brawl had escalated quickly, and could have gotten very ugly. Ordrag's adrenaline was still high (second wind: 12) but his breathing started to slow as he followed the group and prepared for the ritual.

"Well done, Ordrag... You totally kicked butt!" Polly says with a quick smile, then casting Prestidigitation to create a little crown of fireworks around his head and the sound of a large crowd cheering. A moment later she hurries away.
"Yes! Yes I am ready!" Lulu was not shivering anymore and was more herself - determined golden ball of hope and positivity. She needed to remember! Miniature elephant seriously nodded to Fran and followed Maggie inside the Fort.
The difference between inside and outside was not that striking - piles of scraps (may be those inside were more important), dirt floor, but at least there was a roof above all that. The old hag did not plan a tour for the guests, but led everyone to a particularly big compartment with a fiendish circle drown right on the ground, with several comfortably looking black cushions at the center. ("Troublesome, draggle-feathered, useless bird brains," did not follow and flew somewhere deeper into the Fort. No one from Magies crew dared to enter.)
"Come, come dears, sit. We shall put you, sweety, at the center" (she pointed to Lulu the central cushion) "Do not worry, I will be right beside you." (Lulu paused for a moment, but then followed the instructions and slowly lowered on the cushion). "You all sit around." (Cushions seemed to be as comfortable as they looked) "Now, it should not take too long, but we are going to the realm of dreams - if something hurts you there, it will hurt you here as well. You would not die," Maggie giggled a bit, "but if you get hurt too much, we might have to stop. Do be careful."
When everyone took their places, she joined the circle, placing two skulls from her belt on a devilishly looking symbols. "Close your eyes, and remember - you can not leave the circle, or all of this will be for nothing. Try to relax. Who knows, you might even see your "green home"."
As the ritual begun, everyone felt a sensation of presence of the others in their minds, a telepathic bond forming between you, the hag, and Lulu. With eyes still closed, you suddenly "saw" a brilliant flash of light, and then - darkness. A tingling sensation sweeps over your bodies as the vision of vibrant rainbows appears within your connected minds and as those rainbows slowly dissolve, warm sunlight fills the area. Within that space, you see Lulu flying lazily in a lush meadow at the shoulder of a beautiful, blindfolded angel. As the pair strolls through the tall green grass, the voice of the hag fills your mind, “Push through this vision, all of you. This is only what you want to see and be true, Lulu dear. We need to see more.”
Everyone - make a DC 10 Intelligence saving throw.
Adray wiped his boot on the ground after the fight was over. He gave a solid nod to Ordrag and a clap on the shoulder and looked over at the other caps to see if they were going to rush over. Expecting the worse, he heard the voice of Maggie, which might have been the worse he was expecting. Then Lulu chimed in with her excitement, he was leery but the crew was solid and we could get through this. Now in the circle with the others he says to Lulu before the start start, "Lulu, we got your back no matter what comes."

"Good" said hag's voice and the sunny meadow faded to black. Instead a flame-encircled battlefield appears on a barren hellscape - much like the one you travel across already. At the center of the circle, Lulu and the angel lie unconscious and prone, horribly injured. You see yourselves standing in defense of Lulu and the angel, facing outward as six small, spine-covered devils creep closer (you recognise so familiar by now six spined devils ). In the distance, a formation of battered and retreating human warriors disappears through a portal.
“The devils!” hisses the hag’s disembodied voice. “You must defeat those devils!”
