"Are we going to be able to carry all those supplies in one trip?", Humblodt voices dubiously, whilst also thinking of all the traps the goblins had laid in the woods.
Twiglets Is eager to leave this cave. Once outside, the late afternoon sun is like a balm to him. The fresh scents an elixir compared to the stench of death inside.
Ro finds the party congregating outside, along with the now-soaked goblin prisoner. She draws a dagger and approaches until she spots Twiglet off to one side, eyes closed and enjoying the sunshine.
Humblodt hefts his oaken staff and nods meaningfully to Ro, before manhandling ((dwarfhandling?)) the hogtied goblin back out of sight. There is a dull thwack then, a short while later, Humblodt reappears carrying a heavy sack which he dumps alongside the supplies.
Ro knows she should say something to Twiglet, but she has no idea what that something is. She's pretty sure the rescued captive won't appreciate her presence either.
Out of ideas, she finds Tallanvor and tugs on the edge of his cloak. She raises her arms above her head and looks up with a hopeful expression, giving a little hop to emphasize the point.
After some time loading up the wagon with the supplies and loading the captive who is still asleep, you set off for Phandalin.
The track emerges from a wooded hillside, and you catch your first glimpse of Phandalin. The town consists of forty or fifty simple log buildings, some built on old stone foundations. More old ruins — crumbling stone walls covered in ivy — surround the newer houses and shops, showing how this must have been a much larger town in the past. Most of the newer buildings are set on the sides of the cart track, which widens into a muddy main street of sorts as it climbs toward a ruined manor house on a hillside at the east side of town.
As you approach, you see children playing on the town green and townsfolk tending to chores or running errands at shops. Many people look up as you approach, but all return to their business as you go by.
Twiglet is glad to see the town, even one as humble as Phandalin.
His first adventure has been traumatic but exciting, and he had talked to many of his new friends on the ride from the cave, trying to understand this new life. He certainly hadn't understood all of the answers. They seemed to have as many different reasons, goals and guidance as there were people. Ro's short, signed thoughts on why goblins like that must die were certainly to the point. Humblobt seems to think this was just what you got on with...like cleaning the house. XiaoLong insisted on a long monologue about balance in the universe, which made Twiglet feel very small and insignificant. The elves had their own, inscrutable reasons, their sing-song voices seeming to intertwine with each other as they expanded on the nature (and ugliness) of evil. Tallanvor was the most talkative, speaking almost non-stop for several miles about the glory of combat and tales of heroic deeds from his far-off homeland.
However, the adventure was over. They would find Gundred, get some money (on top of what they had found in the cave) and Twiglet would be richer than he had aver been before. He supposed it would be farewellto these strange, but kind, companions. Twiglet was sad to say goodbye (though he kept a cheerful face on, to be a better companion) but he felt far stronger in himself and more able to take what life might throw at him next in this new town
Sorry to put so many words in all your mouths...if you don't like how I characterised the conversations, let me know on discord and I will change. Twiglet, naive as ever, thinks that is the end of the journey
Humblodt sighed to himself. Cleaning the house? Is that the best analogy he could come up with to explain the localised genocide they had inflicted upon the goblin hideout? He was not naturally gifted with the silver tongue of a bard, he admitted. But, in truth, the death of a few goblins bothered him little. They would have done the same to him without qualm. Hunter and hunted. Except, in this case, the hunters - the goblins - had selected the wrong quarry.
What did worry him was the fate of his fellow dwarves. Not that he had much time for the Rockseekers, but they were dwarves nonetheless and he felt it in his bones that they were not yet out of danger.
As they rumble into town, Twiglet keeps a sharp lookout for signs of coordinated thieves...etched marks on doorposts or marks added to the edges of merchants' signs are more common territory markings. He doesn't know much about this town, but if they have one or more gangs, there's a vague chance that it could be trouble for him.

I humbly put advantage on it, as I am looking for the signs that I am familiar with...if they operate very differently here, this might not be valid
Twiglet does not see any signs that he recognises of organised thieves as you enter the town. You pass a larger building on your left as you enter with a sign saying "Barthen's Provisions", the building itself has several of the windows boarded up, while across the street you see a smithy which looks like it has been damaged in a fire. You see Gundren's wagon parked to the side of Barthen's with two clerks unloading it. Further down the street you see a sign for the town inn which sits on the town square, Sildar states "I have heard no complaints about the local Stonehill Inn from those who have come through here. Shall we try to get rooms there for the night after we find Gundren?"
You pull your wagon up next to Gundren's and the clerks point you to the inside of the store. There you find a thin, bald man who greets you warmly "Ahh, you must be the other half of Gundren's company. I was worried when he arrived covered in wounds by himself with half what he was supposed to. I had the lads put him to bed at mine a few hours ago." He motions to a house at the back of the store. "But I have been distracted. I believe you were promised wages for your work. Here." and he reacjlhes under the counter and hands each of you several large coins, worth about 20 Gold Pieces for each of you.
"Thank you. It was a pleasure. We've encountered some nasty Goblins on the way, but they won't be a problem any more, if you see what I'm saying. If you had more jobs like this, I'm sure our group would be interested. I look forward to seeing Gundren once he's recovered and thank him myself. In the mean time, I'll go round Phandalin. Are there any place you'd recommend ?"
"The Stonehill Inn is as good place as any to stay. Toblin and his family look after guests well." One of the assistants comes in and says "They got Lionshield stuff on their wagon Boss and a guy wearing their kit. What should we do with it?" Barthen asks you "Did you rescue that from those goblins? Linene who runs the local Lionshield branch has been complaining about something attacking her supply caravans recently. I imagine she would be pretty grateful if they were returned." He turns to his assistant, "Leave them on the wagon and bring it to Linene. Tell her that those who found it might visit soon."
"I have no jobs, but I imagine if you ask around town there will be someone needs help. Just keep an eye out of anyone wearing a dirty red cloak. They are a group of wannabe thugs calling themselves the Redbrands who have been shaking down the townsfolk. They set fire to Casuriarainn's forge last week when he stood up to them. They usually are around the Sleeping Giant Tavern. Harbin, our townmaster calls them our "protectors", he was always a fool, but now he is just a coward. He might have some work for you, if you can even get into the townmaster's hall."
XiaoLongs nods at Ro as she agrees.
"Let's get going !"
XiaoLong gestures her arm over her shoulder and points in the direction of Phandalin.
"Night will soon be upon us !"
Unless it is early morning ;-)
Would you like to do anything about the captive and/or the supplies you discovered?
Tallanvor voices his opinions on what we should do :
There is enough daylight. It is late afternoon/early evening.
"Are we going to be able to carry all those supplies in one trip?", Humblodt voices dubiously, whilst also thinking of all the traps the goblins had laid in the woods.
