Malizath goes invisible as he hops off of Palisade's shoulder into the air, then little devil using his nature skills to looks around a bit as the Warforged moves to follow quickly, thoughts of getting funds from the king for his next excavation going through his head.

Rixtonfollows the guard mutely, clearly lost in thought.
Kravek walks behind the guard in golden armor. Watching the gold shine in the light, beautifull prestine armor. Kravek knows about armor and weapons. He also knows a knight in shining armor is a man who has never had his metal truly tested.
Walking along into the building Kravek is not focussed on the king but still the guard. This guard does not represent Kravek's definition of a warrior, he represents show of power. Nothing more then politics. But wondering what this guard did to acquire such a position makes Kravek not underestimate him.
Kravek knows little about politics so prepares to listen to what the king has to say and position himself between this golden guard and the group. And in case of trouble, stand in his way.

You're not positive there is a spell that would do such a thing. Its like some other magic you've experienced but you have heard of some beings with the ability to link minds through innate powers. That COULD be what is happening here.

Olive:
"Summoned, you say. Interesting. Seems a lot of trouble to go through."
Song:
Kallak says back in Orcish: "Indeed. Weird woman. Weird theory. Weird is fun. You from the north?"
Kallak tries to get a sense of anything being hidden by the guards as they guide and direct them, and any hostile intent (insight: 18) and will also try to get a sense from the king when he starts talking if he is hiding information about the fire snakes or why he is summoning the group of people here (insight: 17)
The king leads you into a dining room. "I didn't know how many of you there would be... I'm worried it might not be enough."
The main table in the room is laid out with a fantastic spread. Bread and meats and fruit fills the table. Three different large pitchers of wine separate the food. "You are my guests. Please help yourselves. I will allow you a moment to grab what you'd like before we sit and discuss." As you all fill your plates and cups with food and drink -- probably for most if not all of you the best food and wine you've ever had -- he leads you into one more room. This has a large half circled table at which he sits at the head.
"First off, I'd like to apologize. I was the one who let loose those monsters in the streets. I knew my men could handle theirs but I was not sure you kind and brave people would step up to the challenge. However, I needed a group of your caliber, of your bravery." He unfurls a large map of Frell.
"As you all know, Great Maw Reef is at war with one another. The chromatics have challenges for the right of the throne. The metalics have not wanted to give up the spot in fear of what the chromatics may do... That being said, since there is no one in the throne at Great Maw, The Mage Kings are forbidden to do work -- to meet -- to do anything as a unit. And it is only as a unit may we strike deals."
He starts circling points on the map, "You know each kingdom relies heavily on trade with each other. And in order to grow and expand we need to be able to strike deals with other land masses. While we are lucky enough to be on such a diverse island we still need to bring in resources to aid our growth... now I'm sure this sounds very boring to you. But to me this is the upmost importance, but to you folk you might be interested in this tid bit instead..."
He leans forward and meets all of your gazes, "I have it on good authority that the reason there is so much backlash from the metalics even entertaining the idea of a chromatic king is because they aim to expand their reach. They aim to take down the other kingdoms. It would likely be a slow process if done politically but I know the chromatics aim to bring in dragons... real dragons... some from legend to expedite the process. I am looking for help stop this. And I have to do it outside of my own. That is why you all are here. There are heroics in your blood. What do you say?"

Rixton chews on his food thoughtfully and takes a sip of wine as he listens. His attention is fully on the king.
He speaks first, clearly speaking for himself. Still, he gestures to the rest to make his point. "Your majesty," he says respectfully, "most of us are not your subjects. I do not think you are pressing us into service, though, so what is it you are proposing?"
"No no no. I wouldn't dream of forcing anyone to do anything. I do ask that you keep this tactic and meeting between those of us in this room, however. I am simply asking you to do what is best for Frell. I'm aware you all are from all over. That is the beauty of it. You all will be able to have contacts where ever you go. However, that wont help you for what I have planned first. I have heard that the chromatics are trying to recruit the people of Marsh Stomp Island. Several Lizardfolk and Yaun-Ti tribes live on the island. The Chromatics are convincing them they need their own king and the chromatics are going to lead the way for them. I do fear that they are simply taking advantage of the citizens there to push their own agenda... which is a powerful artifact in one of the temples on the island. They just want access to it. I ask of you to go there, and retrieve the artifact. Bring it back here."

Song keeps quiet, regretting that she doubted Olive. What kind of King needs to cause a panic like this to find a few helpful hands?
insight: 9
Nope! Song is overwhelmed by being in the palace, in the presence of the king, and in the plan he’s laid out to be able to tell if he’s hiding anything
Kravek takes in as much food as he can not knowing when he would get another chance. Even for a goliath he seems to be eating without end.
As the king admits to sending the fire snakes himself Kravek coughs up some of the ale he's drinking.
He wipes of his the drops from his chin with his forearm.
Kravek thinks about what to say but pauzes, this king is a mage and who knows what kind of creatures he can command beyond mere fire snakes. Seeing Olive asleep he finishes her drink for her before they run out of everything.
He then looks at the king, What do you ask of us, to kill the chromatic leaders?
Rixton shakes his head slightly at the pitiable and silent response of his new retinue. "You will have to forgive them, your majesty. They are a bit star struck. And hungry. And perhaps hungover. I saw them in action and this group is competent. They may need...an incentive...at least one that goes beyond their civic duty; one that will draw their interest to the task at hand."
While Malizath steals the food and shoves some of it into Palisade's pack, the Warforged simply listens but does seem to perk up a bit once he learns if what is being asked of them first. He will pull out his map and look towards the king. "What can you tell is about the nature of this artifact?"
The Golden Guard notices Olive fall asleep, he tilts Olive's chair back lifting the legs of the chair off the ground letting it fall forward jolting her awake.
"No no no, I wouldn't want that even if I thought you could do it. Thorrash Thrunek is... a powerful warlock. It is almost uncanny... even for the Dragonborns of Great Maw. Now the rumor is that he is after a Tome. At least that is one of the items he is after. He will be searching as I'm sure the metalics are as well for things to turn the tide of the war. The other four kingdoms... are to stay out of it. That is why this must be kept secret."
Olive:
At the mention of the name Thorrash Thrunek you feel something warm in the back of your brain. Your mind link is active and you hear a familiar voice. one of them will be tempted by power. see to it they take it. report to me.
"Of course good deeds shall not go unrewarded. Bring the tome to me, and I will see to it that you are handsomely taken care of."
"What can you tell is about the nature of this artifact?"
"It is a Tome. One that will increase the influence he has over his troops. It will increase the power and ability of his magicks. I am to believe this is only the start. I have also heard of a crystal ball he may be looking for as well, but I have not been about to locate it."

Kai does an exceptional job of dissecting and rearranging his food to make it look eaten. He takes in the conversation and watches each person intently. They seem forthright, noble even. This could be they type of opportunity I've been waiting for, out of the 'Bard' routine and into the sell-sword? What is their name...Kai'liana? No, that is a name of seduction. I'll have to craft this identity carefully. For now though...
"Well then lucky I was swept along! Every great adventure needs to be documented and sung across the land. With discretion for now of course..." He gives a regal nod toward the King. "But to have the chance to be a part of something so...Fantastic! When do we start? Soon? Perhaps with some executive means of transport for as long as it is available..." he said referring to the railway.
Kallak makes a face at Song after the half-orc does not reply.
As they are led to the food, she grabs some things that look interesting and tries them. While the king speaks, she thinks about what would have happened if none of them had decided to come to the tavern that day -- if it would have been another group of people sitting here. Maybe none could call down the storm like Kallak could, but everyone has their strengths. Or if not, the tavern would have just burned down, with a lot of people inside it. She ponders this, and also what is different about one dragonborn king wanting the Tome versus this king who likes to play with fire snakes also wanting the Tome. She listens.
When Rixton mentions an incentive, Kallak nods several times with raised eyebrows. When the king says, "handsomely taken care of" she furrows her brow and looks at the sovereign askance, mumbling words that sound like "upfront investment" and "contract."
After some silence, she clears her throat and says,"Arbitrary."After another bit of silence, she shakes her head a bit, realizing she has to say more. "Anyone who happened to be near the tavern could be sitting here now."She shrugs, leaving the question unasked.
Olivestares at Kallak with disbelief clearly shown on her face. She fully expects that if something interesting or important happens then it happens to her, especially if there's mortal danger involved.
"Rob a temple? I'm in. We have licence to kill, right? I mean we'll have to defend ourselves and might just by accident burn everything down.. i mean cleanse the place. That would be OK, right?"
She walks around the room for a bit, "You know what, don't say anything, it's better that way. Forget anything I said."
She goes and grabs a bottle of wine in each hand, then stashes one in her bag and grabs another one with her free hand, then looks around a bit sheepishly.
"I'm ready. How do we get there?" She stuffs the two bottles also in her bag and starts making a sandwich, the bag clinking here and there while she moves around.
