((Would Xinq have a chance at guessing where the tunnel entrance might be, given his expertise in tunnels and tunnelling? Guessing it'd be a Wisdom based check, but I'll just do a straight d20 and you can modify it as you see fit: 1
Xinq's keen knowledge of the underbellies of civilization has allowed him to be very perceptive for the things that most would cast away as little more than waste chutes. He did recall seeing small entrances to other chambers throughout the monastery. Any of them could lead possibly to the lower systems or could just lead to storage.
The group decides to start making their way toward the shrine of Merveille after Cailee points out the information about a possible tunnel entrance that way. Just a few doors down from the shrine itself is a rather common looking door that many would walk pass without much notice. Cailee had always thought it was odd as she never knew where it went and never really notice anyone going through it. The door seems to be locked.
Does someone want to try and pick the lock or bust down the door?
Pick the lock: Lockpick DC12 (if proficient with the tool, roll Dex+proficiency):
Valyncia followed close behind Cailee as she led them to the Merveille shrine. She seemed weary and uncertain of this monastery and what might hide below. When they finally reached the doorway Valyncia looked it over briefly. "It'd be easy enough for me to break open this door, I think, but we probably want to be more quiet then that." She looked back towards the others, not wanting to try busting down the doorway unless there was no better option.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Svent pats the crowbar hooked into his pack. "This might help force the door more quietly, but it would be quieter still if someone can unlock it. I do not have the tools or the skill to use them." Svent looks around, head swinging from side to side, trying to see if any monks are nearby or have noticed them stop at the door.
There doesn't seem to be any monks nearby paying much attention to the strange group of outsider within their walls. The monks all seem to be moving rather busily performing their tasks as though they are behind schedule.
Svent notices...
far down the path toward the shrine of Merveille, he sees a figure wearing a black cloak with its hood pull down to cover their features. They stand quietly outside of the shrine like a sentinel. It's a bit odd.
Vallen looks about and at the lock, "I am skilled with lock picking... but sadly I lack the actual tools to pick the lock." He would look about the hallway once more to see all who was there and the comings and going of the monks. "I mean if we can find an opening in the travel of the monks, we could bust the door open quickly and move in." He looked to the other to see what they thought.
Jubal shrugged. "I'm in the same boat; no tools. However, let me try to craft an illusion...."
The bard studied the wall surrounding the door for a moment, then looked around discretely until he was sure no one was watching. As soon as he was, he quickly rolled up his sleeves as he grasped his flute and spoke arcane words in a soft, sing-song lilt. He had practiced duplicating real objects via illusion before; he prayed this was enough.
Jubal will cast Silent Image. He is attempting to create a 15-foot wide illusory wall, 15 feet high, that touches the wall on one side of the door, then curves to touch the wall on the other side of the door. And of course, curving to mesh with the wall at the top.
The illusion is of a slight outcropping of the wall, matching the wall's patterns, and the trim, but with no door. There should be just enough room for us to stand behind the wall, near the door. And since the group knows it's an illusion, I presume they can see through it?
Let me know if I need to make a check of some sort to get the level of detail right.
The half-elf shrugged, then extended a hand to the door, inviting someone stronger to deal with it. "If we do create too much noise, perhaps the barrier will keep eyes looking elsewhere, buying us some time?" It was almost a silly gamble, but they seemed to need a way in right away; he figured it just might work. Maybe.
Xinq, who had seemed distracted, steps forward. “I have...certain skills. However I will have to improvise. “. He takes out a dagger and examines the lock.
Picking the lock is proving difficult as the dagger has a hard time finding the actuators within the assembly. They were going to need to use something if they hoped to get through the lock. The illusion does a good job of concealing the door, but the monks that often travel down this path would find the extra mass odd.
There are several groups of monks making their way down the tunnels but most pay little attention to the group.
Do you attempt to pick the lock again or bust down the door?

Valyncia...

recalls the strange runes at the shrine of Merveille. Could these runes activate a hidden passageway to get to where they needed to go? If they were trying to get somewhere that Merveille followers hid away, the shrine could be a good place to start.
Cailee's...
time in the monastery left her with nearly as many questions as answers. While most of the monks here were training and studying the ways of life and death, it always seemed like there were hidden groups working on different projects. They were the ones that were granted extended leave from the monastery and it was never really clear what they did when they left. Rumors were that they were hunting for ancient artifacts dealing with Lugh and Merveille. Others believed they were spies that were sent out trying to gain political advantage in the modern societies. Among the common monks, these people were called Seekers though their real purpose was never known.
began to wonder if there was one of the sacred groves inside of this monastery. It seemed to be something important to these monks and it would only make sense for there to be one here. This network of holy sites seemed to have some importance in the way that Lugh maintained his power over the forests. Shamara's acolytes seemed to never venture very far into the trees and normally stuck to the main roads when traveling. What sort of deal did these new gods make with the old gods?
Valyncia sighs, still uncomfortable in this situation, however it was starting to get extremely suspicious for them to be here. In an attempt to at least move things along, one way or the other, she reaches out and simply grabs Svent's crowbar where he showed it on his pack. Using the tool in hand, she forces it into the doorway and attempts to pry it open as quickly and quietly as she can manage.
STR Check: 23
( not sure what benefits I get from using the crowbar, let me know if I need to roll anything else ... or not, probably won't need it - I keep getting crits for the weirdest things XD )
Svent's head keeps swinging from side to side, looking for danger. Without focusing on the shrine at the far end of the hallway he whispers, "There is one that watches outside the shrine, far down this path, though I do not know if it watches us." As Valyncia takes his crowbar and sets it to the door, Svent maneuvers his body to block the view of the illicit activity by any monk who might be able to see it, preparing to make a distraction if they notice.
Ordinarily the sound of prying a locked door open would cause quite the stir, but Valyncia handles it with the skill of a trained burglar. The door slides open and the group is able to make their way inside without much notice from anyone in the tunnels. Inside, there is a group of four monks wearing black robes. The expression on their face is a mix of confusion and aggression towards the intruders.

Valyncia was shocked at how easily the door opened and quickly moved inside with the rest, only to find the black robbed monks waiting on the other side. She felt this was likely some form of immediate karma as she prepared for the worst.
