Lumen did want to check out the dead end for items or unexpected things.
Assuming none, he is ready to toss the poo inside, standing just behind and out of sight of the door as it opens, fire in the hole style. Then he will slam the door shut again. While it’s open, he will cast vicious mockery on the hobgoblin or someone with a mask if he should seen them. If he has time without suffering negative consequences, he would cast prestidigitation to cause a puff of wind to bring the smell inside the room. (Has no idea this game would get so silly.)
All great ideas! 😂 You guy are so awesome. However, when Vesper opens the door, you’ll have time to do one quick action, like fling the bag in or cast a spell before you close it again. Trying to do more than one thing will mean the other side gets a turn as well. Of course, they may get a turn anyway, depending on what lies on the other side of the door and how ready they are. After all, they very likely know that you are coming.
With Lumen standing right in front of the door, holding the canvas bag full of horrendously fetid, nasty, foul smelling goblin excrement that sat festering in the latrine room for who knows how long, everyone else stands a few feet back, to make sure and give him a wide berth for his throw. A good ten feet back, next to Chrys and Kess, with Krackle just behind, Vesper calls forth her magic and sends a bolt of flame right at the bag. It immediately catches fire, between the oily flammable canvas and the methane gas that’s emanating from the poo, and after giving it a few seconds to really light up, Vesper conjures her spectral mage hand and opens the door a few inches, just as the flames and are getting even bigger and hotter.
Immediately, Lumen tosses the flaming bag of reeking shit into the room and then slams the door. It all happens very quickly, and he can’t be sure what he saw, or even if he was able to discern any figure in his limited field of view. However, as you all stand there, you definitely hear a sudden burst of yelling and panicked commotion from behind the door, and you even think you hear the sound of wolf-like barking as well, similar to what you heard back at the worg room.
Chrys blinks, then turns to the others and gives them a big thumbs-up. She then readies her hammer and nods at the others. "I'm goin' in an' taking advantage o' that chaos,"she then says. She waits a beat, listening to the sounds from behind the door (and giving Lumen a chance to back away if he wants to, or anyone else to approach with her), before flinging the door open once again.
(If she can rush in to attack something without stepping into an obvious trap, she will. I'll wait until I see what's in the room to make some rolls so I know what the heck Chrys should be targeting :-) )
Is there a keyhole Lumen can look through? If so he will try to se any unlit torch or candle or campfire and use prestidigitation to light them. He asks Krackle if he will have any more reserves to heal, and if so, he will cast heroism on Chrys before she rushes in. If not he will ready a vicious mockery for the first person he sees.
"I can help heal people.. two more times!" Krackle would reply while holding up three fingers. The small kobold would then slide another rock into his sling and try to remain calm as he prepares to attack anyone that approaches.
After hearing Krackle's confirmation that he still has some energy left to bestow divine healing, should that be needed, Chrys lunges in front of Lumen, yanks the door back open and charges across the threshold. As she enters the room, she's immediately enveloped by the cacophony of three frenzied figures responding to the flaming poop bag that's burning in the center of this medium sized chamber, that's roughly the same size as the last one where you just were.
Through the heat, smoke and hectic, high-pitched screams and barking, she sees the injured hobgoblin that she just bashed with her hammer a few minutes ago, frantically stopping at the fire with his boot, while behind him, a squat, but stout goblin wearing a grotesque black mask is screaming and shouting at him the back of the room. Next to the goblin, who is standing by a fancy carved fireplace, is a large, monstrous, wolf-like creature with gray fur, that's barking relentlessly at the fire. Chrys easily recognizes it as a worg.
As the hobgoblin stamps and stomps at the flames with determined effort, you can see that he's making a terrible mess, with splats of burning goblin excrement spattering out from under his, now filth-covered boot. He's about 15 feet directly in front of Chrys, while the goblin and worg are about 15 feet directly beyond him agains the back wall, about 30 feet away from Chrys.
When they see the dwarf rush into the room, the enraged intensity of all three creatures reaches a peak, and they stare at Chrys with menacing, desperate fury. Over the worg's loud barking, she can hear the black-masked goblin shout in the common tongue with clear enunciation,
"You fool!! I warned you to stay away... Now you must die!!!
It then screams an order in goblin.
It's on... Roll initiative please, and Chrys, you can go ahead and describe the rest of your action/attack as you enter the room.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Chrys, knowing better than to let an enemy monologue opportunity slip by, continues her charge even as the goblin begins to yell. The hobgoblin, still stomping at the flaming poop, looks up with menace in his eyes, only to be greeted with a reflection of that stare in the descending swing of Due Process.
Attack: 9 Damage: 5
"I didn't want ta go back on my promise o' makin' ya regret it,"she says grimly to the hobgoblin as she swings.
Feeling emboldened by Lumen's magic, Chrys quickly closes in on the hobgoblin, who is suddenly faced with two immediate threats: the fiery bag of poo, or a charging dwarf. His choice is obvious, as he raises his shield and braces against her attack. With desperate, but battle hardened rage in his eyes, he successfully parries her blow with a resounding clang, but it's obvious that he's been caught off guard as he fumbles for his sword while continuing to stamp out the flames.
Lumen darts in and to the side of the door opening, looking around the room. Assuming he just sees what has been described before, he throws a dagger at the hobgoblin, hoping to focus on one threat at a time.
Attack: 17 Damage: 2
He has either one or two inspirations left, so he inspires Vesper (assuming she does not still have an inspiration) with his bonus action. He draws his longsword and his second dagger, readying then for next round.
That roll should be +5 to hit and +3 damage, not sure why the modifiers got stripped on mobile again.

((Pie Pals deserve Superior Poo Tactics! Like producing flame on flying poo to ignite the methane for example, hehehe ))
Excellent idea! If Vesper is up for it...
Maybe, if it'll actually help.

So, with that in mind, what do you do...?
Vesper will wait for the all clear before opening the door with Mage Hand.

Maybe:
Step 1: Light bag on fire before opening door.
Step 2: Assuming door opens out into hall, Lumen opens door about 4 inches and Vesper mage hand throws it inside, and Lumen slams door.
Step 3: profit
Ok, here goes...

Lumen, there is no keyhole in the door. So...

Lumen, you can go ahead and do your action. Your initiative is higher than any of the three opponents.
