Entering the room right behind Chrys, Kessdara sees the strange goblin masked goblin and quickly nocks an arrow to her bow. Taking almost no time to aim, she releases the string and watches as the arrow flies forward and drives itself into the creature's shoulder, right at the break of its chain shirt. The goblin lets out a desperate cry of pain and reaches for a pair of scimitars its belt as it continues to rally with a screaming goblin war cry.
Following on her heels, Lumen also sprints into the room and takes in the chaotic melee of fire, screaming and the clanging of weapons between Chrys and the hobgoblin. Taking advantage of the fact that it's partially distracted by both the flaming pile at his feet and a determined, heavily armed dwarf, Lumen looks for an opening and flicks the dagger right at the hobgoblin. His aim is good enough to deal a killing strike right in the throat, and you watch the hobgoblin drop his sword, as he gasps and gurgles for air and drops to the stone floor dead.
(I'll wait for Krackle to roll initiative and state his actions.)

Krackle initiative! 17
krackle would move to the door and poke his head around the edge to look inside the room. Seeing the hobgoblin fall to the ground, he would turn and look towards the worg. "Those dogs are bad.." He would whisper as he loads another small rock into his sling and flicks it towards the hairy creature.
Despite the distractions of fire, smoke and battle, Krackle’s sling stone flies forward with aim good enough to hit the worg right in the nose. The creature howls and its eyes burn with rage as it glares at the small, bite-sized kobold from across the room.
Watching his hobgoblin general go down, who is now lying lifeless in the burning pile of flaming poo as the fire lick at his face and hair, the small, squat goblin boss glares at Chrys. “You will regret it, dwarf... you shoulda stayed away!” the creature says with a hiss. Now seeing multiple opponents in the room, the boss remains next its worg and hurls a javelin with deadly aim right at Chrystobery’s chest.
So Chrys had 4 temp hp added the turn before she ran in, and another 4 this turn when we all took our actions inside, and she will get another 4 every turn until Lumen loses concentration or it’s been 60 seconds after the spell was cast. I trust you all to handle keeping track :)
Correct. So, Chrys just lost her 4 temporary HP with that attack, but she’ll gain 4 more at the start of her next turn. And, on any turn in the next minute where she takes damage, at the start of her next turn, she’ll regain enough HP to bring her back to the original 4 temporary HP. Heroism is a pretty awesome spell, especially at low levels!
Oh so it’s not cumulative? I thought the temp hp additions each turn combined, such that if there’s no damage over the ten rounds, the recipient could have 40 temp hp, which would then disappear. But we are saying that it’s just a 4hp pool that regenerates every turn? Haven’t read much deeper than the description though.

The snarky little boss is still reveling and cackling in his vicious excitement of having stuck the dwarf with his javelin, when suddenly, a trio of arcane bolts slam into his chest in a burst of purple, white energy. The goblin’s entire torso explodes in a magnificent crackle of sparks as it falls dead in mid laugh.
Go Vesper! Now roll a d20, please.
The worg howls with fury as it’s hit by some of the sparks that shower forth the blast. With bared fangs and bristled, partially singed fur on the back of its neck, the monstrous beast leaps forward and charges towards the dwarf in a vicious attack, it’s teeth sinking deeply into Chrys’s hammer arm.
Attack: 18 Damage: 13
Chrys, I need a Strength save of DC 13 or you will be knocked prone.
Yes Lumen, it’s basically a regenerating pool of hp that refreshes on each turn when they take damage. Accumulating up to 40 hp would make it way overpowered for a first level spell. 😂 Still, having it refresh each time is pretty powerful.
As the worg pushes against the dwarf, trying to force its injured prey to the ground, and into the fire, Chrys plants her feet and stands firm against the monstrous canine. Her efforts might even be aided by the arrow that whizzes over head from Kess’s bow and sticks into the worg’s neck. The ensuing howl of pain pierces Chrys’s ears as she continues fights to get her hammer into position for her next attack.

Lumen growls and leaps to the rear flank of the worg, longsword and dagger flashing in the light of Vesper’s fire bolts. He tries to get some easy hits while it is focused on the ferocious paladin. “We got this, Pie... Pals!” his voice projects well into the room with a harmonic resonance that tries to drown out the shrieks of the worg. He manages roll his eyes audibly when trying to complete the group’s unfortunate name.
Flanked Attack: 16 Damage: 6
Bonus action offhand dagger Attack: 14 Damage: 1
(I do think he is out of inspirations for the day, hence the all-out attack.)
Jumping into the fray, Lumen rushes into battle, striding over the fallen corpse of the hobgoblin and stepping through the mess of partially charred, but still burning poo that litters the floor around the battle. The worg is fully intent on trying to make a meal of the dwarf, and whether it sees the half orc coming around, or just chooses to ignore it, the mistake proves to be a painful one, as Lumen lands a deep and bloody sword slash across the creature's back. It twists and bucks in agony, but remains on its feet, angry as ever, as it lets go of Chrys's arm and whips its head back and forth between its two combatants.
"I..." Chrys, struggling with the worg, grunts as she manages to free her arm, "...like..." She brings the hammer up. "... that..." And takes a swing - "...name!"
Attack, which is now officially a flank thanks to Lumen flanking, haha: 22 Damage: 6
Taking advantage of the double team, Chrys yanks her arm free, winds up and slams the hammer with full force across he worg's cheekbone. Bone and cartilage easily yield to Due Process as the weapon shatters the entire left side of the creature's snout into a jagged, messy red pulp. With not even a sound, the worg collapses to the floor, and you watch as bits of its thick gray coat begin to smolder and catch fire.
Lumen definitely uses prestidigitation to douse the flames and then again to change the smell. He high fives Chrys. He looks around the room to make sure there aren’t any other threats, and then walks to the masked goblin and uses the side of his dagger to take the mask off.

Chrys, panting, lowers her hammer slowly and looks around. "Are the rest 'o ya all right? Nobody got hurt real bad?" She coughs a little and considers her own wounds, which she's starting to feel now that Lumen's magic is fading. Still, they're not the worst she's ever had, and most importantly, everyone seems to be still standing and healthy. Slapping Lumen's proffered hand back enthusiastically, she stows her hammer and looks around the room. "What in the Duin's name gave this fool his delusions 'o power?"
With Lumen's cantrip, the flames disappear and the general odor of the room immediately improves to a much sweeter smell, like that of fresh flowers or the aroma of a morning sea breeze. Of course, that doesn't change the fact that two of you now have poop on your boots, but casting Presdigitation again would certainly clean that up.
Looking around, you see that this room is much cleaner and more richly appointed than any other part of the temple that you've explored. There are oak-paneled walls, vibrant tapestries, a four poster bed and a large, carved fireplace, that's currently burning with a warm glow of smoldering logs. You also see a large strongbox in the corner of the room.
Moving over to the goblin boss, Lumen cuts one of the side ties free and the mask falls off of the dead creature's head. However, instead of a male goblin, you see a squat, pudgy face with features that don't actually look very goblin-like at all. In fact, when you look closely and see past the bits of burned flesh on its chin from Vesper's spell attack, you see that it is not a goblin, but a human woman with short cropped gray hair, yellow teeth and a grizzled face.
You quickly recognize her as crabby Constable Frida from Melton.
