Kess digs into her memory and tries to recall what kind of creature might leave such an enormous area of slime that covers nearly everything in sight. Unfortunately, nothing springs to mind. She's as flummoxed as the rest of you.
As you press on through the forested bog, you can feel the ambient air temperature drop a few degrees on your exposed skin, and a heavy fog begins to roll in all around you. Within minutes, the entire area is blanketed by a thick, gloomy haze, with visibility down to less than 100 feet.
"Okay, what's the plan here? Wander till either we see what's causing this, or until it finds us and surprises us?"Lumen whispers, drawing the group close. "Do we want to give this a shot right now, or head back to Phelannie's tree and regroup? Maybe come back and circuit the swampy area to see what we're dealing with, how big this is? And if we're pressing on, can we plan anything?"
"... We've come so far, I ain't sure what goin' back to Phelannie's tree is gonna accomplish,"Chrys whispers back. "We should try ta keep quiet, though, I think."
She takes a good long look over at the group. "If we go back an' try this tomorrow, we'll be refreshed an' rested. But that ain't ta say more of them spiders and their herders will come back an' see what's up with the tree we freed. If ya want ta get a good night's sleep 'fore we face whatever's awaitin', then we gotta turn around now, 'cause it ain't safe to camp in this slime. Otherwise, we go on and deal with this 'fore nightfall. I ain't got no strength left to call on the gods fer help, but my arm can still swing this hammer o' mine."
Chrys looks ready to press on, though she does look weary. She waits to see what in particular the spellcasters of the group seem to think.
"It's pretty spooky.." Krackle would say as he moves to clutch on to the leg closest to him. "I'm gunna be brave though. I think we need to keep going."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
With your resolve to keep pressing on through the swamp, you trudge through the heavily fogged landscape, stepping over, around and sometimes through the increasingly large and brackish puddles and ponds that become even more prevalent in this boggy forest.
At one point you step tromp quickly through one of the larger pools, and as you do so, your eyes catch a quick motion at the surface, as three large snakes, about five feet long and as big around as a man's leg, with glistening, wet scales black as night, suddenly emerge from beneath the fetid waters. You almost don't see them before they strike, and in fact, two of them lash out at Chrys and Lumen, their fangs dripping with venom.
Chrys: Attack: 19 Damage: 8
Lumen: Attack: 14 Damage: 6
Fortunately, Chrys is able to bash the snake's head away from her leg before it can sink its teeth into her flesh. Lumen, however, is not so lucky, and he feels the stinging pain on his lower legs the snake's fangs puncture his skin. (Need CON save from Lumen.)
The other emerges right next to Kess, but she spots the large, slithering reptile before it has a chance to attack.
There’s a brief respite in the impending battle with the three snakes, and something catches your eyes... You eack look down and see a small vial lying on the spongy ground at your feet, half submerged in the muck.
You can use a free action to pick it up, and each of you can add a healing potion to your inventory.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays, everyone! 😀🌲❄️⭐️⛄️ Be well, take care and we’ll continue the game soon!
Welcome back, Kess!!!!! 👍
Roll a nature check, and we'll see what she knows.
Kess recalls if there is anything so vile and slimy that it corrupts the land around it (Nature): 6

Lumen looks to the rest of the party and says, "I've got a little bit left in me, and I could rouse myself for more. What about the rest of you?"
(( Lumen and Chrys are willing to continue into the swamp. Let us know if you have any objections! ))

Need Initiative from everyone.
