As I had stated last time, you can have advantage while doing this. So, Vesper can roll another attack roll to see if she hits. If she doesn't, then Lumen will have to make a DEX save or take half damage from her attack.
Having already performed this trick on Lumen last time he was covered in a mass of creepy crawly things, Vesper stands right in front of him, points her finger directly at the last of the swarm and lets loose another fiery bolt. Her aim and the high level of arcane control she demonstrates easily allows her to burn the remaining spiders from Lumen's chest without so much as even causing a red mark on his skin. It's already covered with hundred of them from the spider bites.
After it's done, Lumen is able to quickly brush and scrape the few remaining stragglers from his arms and legs, and then all is silent in the woods again.
“Seems the worst o‘ it is over for now,“ Chrys observes. She puts a hand on Kracklebear‘s head and gives him a soothing pat. „S‘alright to come outta that form now, kid. We got ya.“
Moving over to Lumen, she offers him a hand up. “Maybe we should get ya some insect-repellin‘ salve ‚fore we get into another forest jaunt. I‘ll help fund that if ya need it. Them red welts ain‘t a good look on ya.“
Once everyone has collected themselves, she‘ll take a closer look at the body of the slain ettercap. “Ya think this one was the ringleader, or do we got even more nastiness up ahead?“. She inspects their surroundings, looking for more web trails.
(What do our surroundings look like in general right now?)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Lumen grunts in pain, trying to soothe some of his welts, astounded at the deep damage they did to his body. He casts healing word on himself for 8 hp, uttering a low hum and an orcish word that sounds like "Bom."
"I don't know why these swarms keep going for me, but I don't like it. What should I do about them? I can't roll around and squish them, I can't stab them, I can't even convince them I'm unappetizing. Need to learn more spells I think. Ugh, I feel awful. I barely got a shot at that big one. I'm not sure if that's the last of them, but I do think we should burn away all of those webs. Nasty spiders, not good for the forest. Kess, Vesper? Want to light it up?"
Lumen helps scout ahead and helps to point out areas of webbing that would respond well to fire bolts. He's hoping that the area's clear, but he's ready to hit anything that moves with vicious mockery
Krackle-bear would nuzzle Chrys and lick his wounds a bit before transforming back into a kobold. "OUCH! I'm glad I was a bear when that they hit me!" He would exclaim before rushing over to Lumen. "Are you hurt? Are any of you hurt?" The kobold would ask with concern as he looks around towards his friends, bounching from one to the next looking them over for any cuts. Krackle would then move towards Lumen again and pat him on the knee. "it's OK! Next time you get covered in bugs, I can turn into a chicken and eat them!"
As Lumen chants his brief healing melody and restores some of his own vitality and Chrys inspects his wounds, she recalls that when she was attacked by the spider swarm next to Phelannie's tree yesterday, it almost seemed as if the larger blunt surface of her hammer did a more effective job against the swarm of tiny arachnids, better at least than trying to stab them.
It's impossible to tell if that was the last one, or if there are any more lurking about, but looking at the mutilated body of the dead ettercap, which reeks of death, you notice that it's definitely larger and more muscular than the other ones that you fought.
Remaining alert, you inspect the area around the massive tangle of spiders webs that stretch between the trees in this particular expanse of the forest. Looking at it with a more careful and close up eye, it appears to be quite large, as if it were some kind of nest. The thick, opaque strands, which are much more like messy cobwebs than the neatly arranged circular patterns that some spiders spin, seem to be centered around and encasing an especially large oak tree, and they're filled with scores of dead birds and the corpses of many other small forest creatures.
You can't see the base of the tree, but looking up, you can tell that many of the upper branches and foliage appears sickly with rot and disease. Moving closer, you sense that the odor of death wasn't just coming from the dead ettercap, it's definitely emanating from the web itself.
"Oi, Lumen... maybe you should get yerself a club o' some kind. Somethin' that ya can clobber the lil' beasties with more effectively than those dags. Maybe Krackle can help ya find a stick thick an' wide enough to double as one, jus' in case we run into more o' them lil' buggers."
As she looks at the mass of rot in the tree, Chry's nose wrinkles. "Well... think we found the source o' the problem,"she says, crossing her arms with a grimace. "Seems ta be some kind o' a nest. I don't know if I can repeat the service I did to Phelannie's tree on that giant oak there... an' in any case, it ain't gonna help much until we get that there spider tumor off o' it.
I'm fresh outta ideas for clearin' this gunk up. Seems like it'd be a job for some magic fire or somethin',"she mutters. Still, being unable to produce any of the sort on her own, Chrys takes out a fresh torch and lights it up again, busying herself with setting a few of the closer webs aflame while the others discuss their next move.
Chrys finds that even with normal, non magical fire, she's easily able to use a torch to set fire to the thick strands and clear out the mess of cobwebs from around the tree. As the rest of you join and and burn away the webs, you can see that this was definitely the ettercap nest. A large depression in the matted, leafy soil lies at the base of the tree, against a crude pile of rotting logs that seems to form a shallow depression big enough for a handful of humanoid sized creatures to fit inside.
The tree itself is quite scarred from many deep scratches and chips in the bark at its base, and a number of the lower branches have been broken off. The entire place is filled with the stench of death and rot, and you see many small piles of littered animal bones lying in the soil in the vicinity, as well as a few mutilated and decaying deer carcasses. A quick inspection of the bones shows that most of them are the remains of relatively small creatures, perhaps fox, badger, rabbit, etc... with a handful of them being larger creatures, perhaps wild boar.
Krackle would scrunch up his face as a flame appears in his hand. "Well.. I guess we should try to burn those webs then hu?" He askes before tossing the ball of flames up towards the webbing. He would continue to produce flame and toss the balls of fire up into the webbing in the tree until either something came out of the majority of the webs burned away.
With the aid of Krackle's druid magic, you are able to burn away all of the remaining cobwebs from around the tree. Fortunately, no other ettercaps, spiders or other creepy crawly creatures show themselves or crawl out from under any of the rocks or branches in the immediate area.

Lumen looks around the nest, where the ettercaps might have hidden things they'd found. "Can someone help me look to see if they'd hidden anything interesting?"
Sifting through the dirt, leaves, twigs, small bones and small stones that are scattered about in and around the next, you don't really find anything of value, it's mostly just waste and discarded bones. However, something slightly out of the ordinary does catch Lumen's eye. Lying on the ground with some other rocks, he sees a pair of small, semi translucent aqua green gemstones, both uncut. Chrys recognizes then as Chrysoprase. She figures they're worth about 50gp each.
Lumen, when he hears the name of this type of gemstone, cocks a friendly half-grin. "Cousins of yours, Chrysoberyl?"
He does a final loop of the tree, checks for any other webbing to point out for the fire brigade, asks Chrys if she wants to heal this tree like she healed Phelannie's tree to perhaps end whatever evil there might be. He then looks through the canopy for the sun to get a sense of how many hours into the morning they are, since the walk and the fight didn't take too long. He suggests heading back to Phelannie's tree, checking on her and confirming she'll be okay, and then potentially heading back to town.
OOC: Here's a quick FYI reminder about what Phelannie told you this morning before you went off to search for the ettercap's lair.
Phelannie also speaks of another sinister and disturbing presense that dwells past the ettercaps's nest. Feeling a bit emboldened, she snuck past the webs and ventured even further to investigate. However, she only got so far before feeling a strong sense of evil present in an area of forest wetland that lies a bit further. She was too frighted to proceed, so she hurried back.
Chrys looks up at the oak tree doubtfully. "This one's a lot bigger 'n Phelannie, an' I ain't got much stamina left in me to channel the gods. I was always more o' the profane type o' spiritual warrior. Ya know... I bring the good news with my hammer, not my words." She touches the trunk of the tree carefully. "I wouldn't wanna leave this forest without tryin' ta heal this here tree before we go... but I think I'm gonna need to sleep on it, an' maybe say a few prayers to the Duin first. Unless we wanna stop here for the night, 'fore pushin' in further towards those wetlands Phelannie told us about -- then I can do my best to aid this thing right now. Otherwise, I think this oak'll be fine for another day or two, but if one of you gets poisoned on the field, I need ta be able to treat ya."
(I'm a put the gems in my inventory for now unless Lumen got them, just so we don't forget we have them)
Looking out past your immediate area, you don't see or hear any other animals. It almost seems as if this part of the forest is devoid of any kind of life, beyond the thick trees, some of which appear to be struggling with their health, much like the damaged tree at the base of the ettercap nest. The air is still and silent, and they ambient light is very dim, with almost no sun breaking through the thick canopy overhead, and this mood persists in the terrain beyond.
"I think it has to feel better already with all the stinky webs off of it!" Krackle would say as he looks over the tree. "We can take a short rest if ya want. I can dig you a nice sleeping hole if you want to take a quick nap."

Investigation: 21
"Sure thing," Chrys says, wiping the sweat from her forehead and extinguishing her torch. (help action)

Definitely forgot about/misread this!! Thank you.
Lumen instead looks past the nest into the rest of the forest. Does he see/hear wildlife?
