Vesper’s magical flaming missile hits the zombie right in its already charred face. Even more fire erupts, this time from its old, torn shirt, and the horrid creature’s entire head is now a burning mess of vile smelling charring flesh and singed hair. Still, it refuses to die and continues lumbering forward, swiping at her once again with mindless abandon.
Lumen, realizing his insults could never beat the awesome power of Krackle's cowering, takes up his longsword and hits the zombie attacking Vesper very hard.
As Vesper wards off the attack with a magical shield that instantaneously surrounds her, Lumen steps steps forward and swings his sword with a vicious amount of strength. The gash cuts halfway through the zombies heavily damaged and charred upper body and spills forth a disgusting spray of black blood. Its so deep that Lumen has to wrench his sword free with a great deal of force, but to his surprise, the zombie stays on its feet and keeps advancing.
Chrys finally takes down the burned, mutilated zombie with a devastating blow. Its bloated, bloodied and destroyed body crashes to the stone floor, and aside from a couple of brief twitches, it remains a motionless lump and stops moving.
Grunting in frustration (when it is her turn), Kess would use the momentum of the zombies forcing their way in to put some distance between her and the rotten monstrosities to draw a scimitar and attack!
(I'm assuming that this is a bit too sudden for her to have had both weapons drawn, DM)
Leaping backwards and attacking with sharp and deadly precision, Kess cuts deeply into the zombie’s already dead and bloated flesh. Streams of black blood spill out, but it hardly seems faxed, and it keeps staggering forward in its mindless charge.
Having already been struck once and covered in a spray of blood by Lumen's last strike, Vesper backs up a bit while her heavily armed companions continue to batter at the last remaining zombie. Chrys easily lands a bone-crushing blow against the nearly defenseless creature, while Lumen cuts nearly all the way through the creature's skull with his longsword. A huge gush of blood pours out of the creatures and the two find themselves covered in splashes of disgusting reddish black glop.
The combination of blows would certainly be enough to fell any of the creatures you've encountered thus far, but as with the last zombie, this one simply refuses to die, even though its rib cage has been shattered and its head is nearly split in two.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Wrenching his sword free from the zombies's head, Lumen winds up for another swing, but not before the zombie bashes and rakes at his neck with fearful, relentless intensity.
Attack: 13 Damage: 6
Now covered in his own blood from a painful wound, Lumen responds with yet another powerful slice with his sword, this time, ending the fight for good by cutting off the zombie's entire head and watching it fall with a soft onto the stone floor. The head is followed by its now lifeless body, which continues to stagger for a second or two before slumping down the ground and becoming still.
Chrys tamps down on her disgust and crouches down to take a closer look at the corpses to confirm if they are, indeed, Harriet's halfling companions. "Much as I hate zombies, if these are really Harriet's friends, hey deserve a better burial than this," she says.
She also will peer into the room to see what's inside... particularly to note if there's any sign of what caused the corruption of the corpses in the room, or if it was merely the entire atmosphere of the forgotten temple and the fiend within it that was enough to raise the dead into zombies.
Taking a closer look at the fallen zombies, which are indeed finally dead and no longer moving. You cannot tell for sure if they are Harriet’s companions, (I don’t think she described them per se,) but by their attire, they appear to be much more like common travelers than evil temple worshipers, and they’re certainly not goblins. Two humans, an elf and a female half elf, they’re dressed in common merchant/travel garb, with clothing that seems similar to what Harriet is wearing: leather breeches, cotton shirts and woolen vests.
Although their faces are twisted in seemingly permanent expressions of agony, now that they’re really dead, you can spot the little details that do indicate that they were not mere monsters, they were real living people in the not so distant past. Things like the way someone’s hair was cut and styled, certain adornments on their clothing, even though it’s now very much torn, dirty and covered in blood, and even a bit of makeup on the woman’s bloated face tell at least part of the story about who these people were and what they cared about, at least when it came to their appearance.
As you look inside the room, you see The walls of this room are lined with shelves, most of which have been smashed. In one corner lies a charred pile of books and scrolls. The rest of the floor is covered in dust, ashes, and scraps of parchment. You don’t see any kind of ritual equipment or specific instruments of Necromancy that might have been used to turn these poor folk into zombies.
Lumen nods at Chrys and her suggestion, trying to catch his breath. When he does, he asks Vesper for some prestidigitation to clean off the gore.
He then wanders into the room and begins looking at book titles to see what’s in there - and trying to find anything unburied. He also searches for anything else of note inside the room.
Kess starts to nurse the scratch she received from one of the zombies, clutching at the bicep of her left arm where she had taken a hit; it wasn't bleeding majorly, but the zombie had raked her hard and deep enough to make the wound stinging and painful as she hisses and clutches at the scratch.
"Agreed... no living thing deserves this indignity," Kess nodded in agreement with Chrys, picking up and sheathing the lone scimitar she had drawn. "And judging just from what we can see, these people were just living their lives here in this part of the North."
The dangers and savagery of the Northlands were not without reputation, and they had clearly claimed more victims.
(OOC: Sorry about that... i have a project I am working on in all of my free time at work while spending all my free time at home trying to renovate a few rooms)
"I can help bury them.." Krackle would reply as he emerges from his small ball on the ground. As he looks to the dead zombies, he immediately begins searching them for anything of value. "Gotta make sure we don't waste anything! Don't want to bury any coins." The kobold would say from behind his mask as he frisks the corpses... seemingly much less terrified of them now that they are no longer moving.
