"And salvage to be collected" Jax would mumble quietly as he turns towards the ship. Once everyone was ready to head forward, he would make his way into the dark ship. The interior of the craft seeming all the more dark after having come from the bright desert landscape. The yellow light from the front of the warforged lighting the way just enough to keep from tripping over anything as they make their way inside.
Salqwyn "Squall" d'Lyrandar / Half-elf Sorcerer - (I am assuming we are starting our search at the bottom of the ship. If not I can adjust accordingly.)
"Might I suggest we make our first pass working up quickly. Just checking for anyone that might be hiding and any obvious equipment. Then on the way back down and out we can do a more thorough inspection."
"Sounds reasonable" Jax would reply to Squall as he reaches his hands into his jacket and pulls out a set of small thin metal rods. With his other hand he would quickly pull out his commandeered tinkerers kit and quickly engrave a few runes into the side of the objects as they both begin to glow, much like the lens on his face. "Take these glow sticks. They should help you to see in the darkness" The warforged would say as he extended his metal hand with the two glowing five inches long cylinders towards his companions. One would glow with a green light and the other with a blue light.
Tara nods and takes the blue one, promptly examining the runes curiously. Her own hand begins to glow with a gentle blue light, and she examines the two side by side for a moment before extinguishing the light on her hand and smiling at Jax. "Thank you."
(OOC: In case there is any confusion, I am using my warforged Magical Tinkering ability to create magical light sources for two of you to use.)
At 1st level, you learn how to invest a spark of magic into mundane objects. To use this ability, you must have tinker’s tools or other artisan’s tools in hand. You then touch a Tiny nonmagical object as an action and give it one of the following magical properties of your choice:
The object sheds bright light in a 5-foot radius and dim light for an additional 5 feet.
Whenever tapped by a creature, the object emits a re-corded message that can be heard up to 10 feet away. You utter the message when you bestow this property on the object, and the recording can be no more than 6 seconds long.
The object continuously emits your choice of an odor or a nonverbal sound (wind, waves, chirping, or the like). The chosen phenomenon is perceivable up to 10 feet away.
A static visual effect appears on one of the object’s sur-faces. This effect can be a picture, up to 25 words of text, lines and shapes, or a mixture of these elements, as you like.
The chosen property lasts indefinitely. As an action, you can touch the object and end the property early.
You can bestow magic on multiple objects, touching one object each time you use this feature, though a single object can only bear one property at a time. The maximum number of objects you can affect with this feature at one time is equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of one object). If you try to exceed your maximum, the oldest property immediately ends, and then the new property applies
"It would seem that your ability to create light exceeds my own" The warfoged would add as he looks to Tara. "There is much to learn from you." He would add as he turns and continues into the belly of the ship.
I'm in, of course, says Lucky. Try keeping me away from this mess, he mutters under his breath. Cool light things, but time's a-wastin', as they say. He heads off towards the ship, keen to get started on the search.
Tara gives Jax the ghost of a smile as she follows the group, turning the glowing blue cylinder in the fingers of her right hand. "There is much to learn from everyone," the young woman merely says before continuing into the ship, her emblem held tight in her left hand, and murmurs a soft prayer in Draconic.
Draconic:
"Sovereign of Law and Lore, watch over us. Ourelonastrix, may your wings bear us to safety."

You collectively gather your things and begin to move into the lower decks through a gaping hull in the side of the wood. As you begin to step in Lespin the goblin rushes forward “Oh, you’re going in already? Excellent.... I don’t know what you and William discussed already, but if you’re looking for more of the ships supplies, I have a favor to ask. In the second deck, in my quarters there is a chest. It’s about a foot wide and has some blue inlays. Inside are some momentos from home. Just some polished tusks and knick knacks.... more sentimental than anything valuable. I don’t want to lose them.” He asks.
After responding to Lespin if you choose to you head into the lower deck. The third deck that was mostly used as storage rooms and crew quarters. You walk awkwardly on the angle of the ship below you. Your left foot sideways on the floor, your right on the wall as you carefully choose each step. The wood creaks and slightly gives as each of you put pressure down. The doors line the right side, causing you to drop down into the rooms if you decide to enter.
Lucky moves carefully from door to door, looking down and taking a few seconds to take a proper look inside. As these are crew quarters and storage rooms, he'll look for things that might aid with their survival, or for anything that seems strange or like it doesn't belong - evidence of the doppelganger's activities. Investigation22.
He hums to himself quietly, then looks at the others. So... items of interest that we might find include: useful equipment that will help our survival, a crew manifest, the stashed journal of the sadly murdered Sophie, a dead body indicating that the doppelganger has taken on the deceased's identity, the killer themselves lying in wait for us. Have I missed anything?

"I think you are correct Lucky" Jax would reply before looking to Tara. "I hope there is only one doppleganager" The warforged would say while looking around for supplies. "I believe the explosion however was a result of the destroyed runes". Jax would add as he carefully navigated down the sloped hallway. As they made their way to each doorway, he would carefully open the door and look inside. The warforged would enter each room to ensure that nothing is missed.
You sweep through the first deck you are one. Swiftly navigating through the odd angles, helping each other drop down room by room. You find various things amongst the rubble and knocked over supplies: 2 x 50 feet of rope, A small keg of black powder, various sized clothes, two barrels of water, a back up sail, various screws, nails, and scraps of metal and wood, a couple short swords, a great sword, and several shields. You find a hidden cache under the bed in the crew quarts. Turns out to be correspondence between a man named Toby and a woman Eleanor; love letters they seem to be. You don’t find anything linking any clues to the doppelgänger or his potential associates on the level. You make it to the end of the hall way. Down goes to the fourth level where you found the body and runes to power the ship. Upstairs is the passengers quarters, followed by supplies meant to be transported, kitchen, and officers quarters.
Well, if Toby or Eleanor are here and survived, I'm sure they'll want these, says Lucky as he stuffs the love letters into a pocket. He'll assist the others in dragging or carrying the useful stuff they found to the entrance so they can be hauled out later. Down, I guess? Please, nobody suggest we split up - that would not end well.
"I believe down is the best course of action" Jax would reply as he turns his head through the darkness. .. casting light much like a lighthouse. The warforged would help haul all of the items towards the enterence of the ship as well before heading deeper into the ship.
