Virnen takes a second before answering, almost like he was shaken out of his own head. "I...I don't know where I'm going after this. Going to see where the wind takes me I suppose. I just know I can't go back." He looks solemnly down to his feet and says "Good people died so that we could survive. If we can't find those responsible for their deaths and make them pay, then at least we could carry their memory forward." Virnen makes eye contact with Lucky. "That is what I intend to do."
Lucky grins, and claps Virnen on the back. That sounds like the beginnings of a partnership to me. What do you think about the others? Tara and Jax. You think they're up for it? What about the minotaur and the gnome? Can't say I've really talked to them much. He shakes his head. I can't believe we got out of that place alive...
Virnen smiles at the touch. "I would be honored to continue traveling with all of you, and I would hope they feel the same. Moxley and Saralyssa came just in time, and I doubt we'd have survived if it wasn't for them." Virnen bumps Lucky's shoulder with his own. "Or without you, for that matter. You did well down there."
"Ok then..." Saralyssa says, feeling a bit weird standing there with all f ehr gear. "I figured we were walking out of here, but this is much better..." She returns to put her gear back away.
Jax would move towards Virnen and lucky. "Yes, you all fought well. " The warforged would say with a nod. "I would like to continue accompanying you all if you would have me. I feel our relationship could be beneficial to us both." He would add before reaching down a d giving the metallic wolf a pat on the head.
"You have nothing to fear from A-J, I have instructed him not to harm anyone I consider an ally. If you attempt to harm me in any way however, He is well equipped to defend me. You may give him a good pet... and perhaps some skritches... as they say." The warforged would reply motioning to the wolf.
Tara notices the metal wolf and rushes over with a delighted cry. "Extraordinary! Did you make him on your own, Jax? What are his internal workings? What percentage is pure mechanics and what percentage is magic? Can he plan and adapt on his own, or only follow commands? Does he have tactile senses?" A rush of excited questions pour out of Tara's mouth.
The green light behind the warforged's eyes would twinkle a bit as Jax replies quickly to the questions. His fairly monotone voice sounding a little more excited when describing his work. "The [Tooltip Not Found] can feel in much the same way I can. He was designed to be able to make limited decisions on his own... such as avoiding enemies and protecting myself and my allies. A-J will also follow large number of commands." Jax would add looking down to A-J. The mechanical wolf would sit on the floor with its metal tail moving back and forth across the wooden planks... scraping and scratching the surface as it moves. "If you look closely, in-between the protective metal plating, you will see a number of clockwork gears and cogs and pistons all inscribed with tiny runes connected with tiny copper lines etched into the surfaces of the materials within the creature... It makes links them to create a system that allows the components to work together" The warforged would say before looking to Saralyssa. "A-J could even be used to help carry equipment or personnel if needed... Provided it doesn't weigh too much." He would finish as the wolf flops on its side.. offering its metal plated stomach to those around it.
While the group is enjoying the breeze and the conversation. Having time to unwind and chat after all the events that have transpired. The day comes to and end and night begins to fall. Everything seems to be smooth sailing for now. Much of the passengers have moved on and some even start laughing as they trade their stories. Plenty of work still for Moxely at the makeshift kitchen and bar.
The crew can be seen getting into a rhythm as well. Working more efficiently as the day goes on as they learn the new system of making sure the ship stays upright. Everyone seems to be more relaxed and relieved.... except Buddy. The half Orc first mate. He has been on fire all day, yelling commands, grunting along. His attitude, fierce and uncompromising. The workers all grumble as he walks by, but no one speaks a word against him. He can be found several times making laps and checking the horizons with his telescopic spy glass.
Lucky offers to help Moxely at the bar, partly to get to know him better, and partly to hear the stories of the travellers and to get their take on what happened. And some useful quotes for his next article. He'll ask questions about their plans, and what they think of the experience of crashing, and how they think the matter was handled...
Moxely will thank Lucky for the help and then offer him some food and drink, "So I never got around to asking you lot, what brought you on the ship in the first place?"
Well, we're not together, Lucky replies. I didn't meet any of them until the ship had already got underway. For me, I'm just out to see the world, and maybe write a bit about what I see. I work for the Elldeen Enquirer. Well, sort of. Freelance, I guess you'd call it. But watch this space,he adds hurriedly, I'm gonna be famous one day real soon. Maybe with this story - if we can get to the bottom of it.
What about you? You sticking with ol' Captain William for the long haul?
Tara gives AJ a belly scratch before trotting idly over to where Saralyssa, Lucky, and Moxley are talking, pulling out her spellshard to update her notes with information about AJ.
As the group continues to talk and take notes, Buddy comes around to make an announcement. “Captain gonna have to shit down the ship. He can power it up again in the morning, prepare for us to stop soon for the night.” He then nods and makes his way to other passengers to tell them the news.
(anything planned for the night? RP, or tell me you’re ready to move on in the OOC thread)
For the briefest of moments Lucky can see sorrow and utter rage reflect in his eyes, before he quietly speaks, "I was a respected member of my town, had my own tavern and everything, then as I was off in forest gathering supplies I came back to my town completely engulfed in flames as a dragon was ransacking it. Eventually the Dragon left and when I got back to the town there was nothing left. I vowed then I would find that dragon and kill it, been searching ever since. Ran across the brothers and we became friends, and then they offered me a position on the ship as the cook. Easiest way I could think of to travel the land in search of the dragon. So far, no luck but I still have hope."
[OOC: I am good for ether more RP or skipping to morning...or the next monster to mistakenly attack us. :) ]
That's bad. Really bad. I'm sorry, mate. Look, I've no love for dragons and the crap they give us, so if I do hear tell of a dragon doing that kind of thing, I'll let you know. Hells, I'll help out if I can. Not sure what I can actually do against a dragon, mind you. Lucky thinks of his own family back home, and hopes that they're safe.
In an attempt to change the subject, he looks over at Saralyssa and says loudly: So, you done communing with that bloody crystal? Learn anything interesting?
Tara frowns at the bad mouthing of dragons. "Rogues give all dragons a bad reputation," she mutters before adding louder "Most dragons are not like that. That one was likely a rogue, who fled Argonnessen because of some crime and then was not hunted down." The woman's face twists in disgust. "Such rogues are blights on all dragonkind."

That your dog? Lucky asks, eyeing the wolf warily. You couldn't get a nice cat instead? Is this thing gonna be chasing me all day?
